The Fallout tabletop RPG emerges from the vaults

The officially licensed Fallout tabletop roleplaying game is now out, bringing post-nuclear roleplaying to your tabletop from publisher Modiphius Entertainment. With the digital edition now available, Fallout: The Roleplaying Game becomes the latest property to get the tabletop RPG treatment, with a big colorful rulebook that'll probably be bought by just as many people who want to read a fat book of Fallout lore as want to actually play a TTRPG...

Fallout: London modders tease Covent Garden for the huge Fallout 4 mod

Last month, we got a good look at an enormous and ambitious mod coming up for Fallout 4. Called Fallout: London, it's a project that promises a "DLC-sized" addition to Bethesda's RPG game with a post-apocalyptic take on the UK's capital. There's been little word since, but today the modders have posted a tease about a new location that'll feature in the mod.

In the original Fallout: London reveal trailer (below), we got a good peep at various recognisable, real-life locations given the Fallout treatment. There were shots of Tower Bridge, St. Paul's Cathedral, Buckingham Palace, and a handful of other famous spots, too - but now it's been confirmed that the iconic piazza Covent Garden will appear in the mod. We haven't got a massively clear look at the location, but the modders have posted a wee teaser snapshot on Instagram, which you can check out below.

We can see one of the entryways to the indoor shopping and entertainment hub set against a hazy sky, and covered in graffiti. From the teaser, it's easy to see it's Covent Garden (you can check out this picture for reference if you're unfamiliar), but it is only a hint about what's to come.

Fallout 4 modders and fans are paying tribute to Dogmeat's inspiration, River

If you're a Fallout 4 fan, you might have heard the very sad news that the real-life inspiration behind virtual pupper Dogmeat recently passed away. Called River, she was a big, gorgeous German Shepherd who not only helped bring Dogmeat's likeness, animation, and personality to life, but an important part of the dev team behind the post-apocalyptic RPG game. Now, fans and modders are showing their love for River with in-game tributes.

Modder Mangaclub has created a lovely memorial to River in the form of a statue that you can craft at a workbench and place where you'd like in your game. It's a weathered stone statue, with a German Shepherd - presumably based on Dogmeat's mesh - sat resting on top of a plinth, as a mourning figure in robes sits beside it. It's a really touching tribute to the real-world doggo, and you can find it at Nexus Mods here.

Elsewhere on the site, creator Sirucus has uploaded a simple name swap mod that lets you rename Dogmeat to River in case you'd like to honour her in another way. It is an excellent name, after all.

Fallout: London modders reveal a load of new content for the huge Fallout 4 mod

Earlier this month, we got our first really good look at a huge - and hugely impressive - "DLC-sized" Fallout 4 mod on the way from a group of talented creators called Fallout: London. Featuring a map roughly the same size as the base game's own Commonwealth, the mod is a post-apocalyptic, Fallout-style take on the UK capital - and now we've got a good look at even more content coming its way.

In a new Fallout: London 'Second Quarter 2021 Progress' video clip, the modding team gives us a whistle-stop tour of what it's been cooking up for the upcoming creation recently, and it looks like there's a whole lot. First up, we can expect some gruesome new beasties to haunt London's streets - including one inspired by monsters that would have appeared in a non-released iteration of Fallout 3 - codenamed Van Buren - called the Gahenna, which the Fallout: London crew says have been adapted to fit Fallout: London.

Found near "the fracking disaster area of Croydon, they're slightly larger than humans and appear to be made of black tar and shiny oil," the video explains, with a penchant for melee attacks and toxic gas. Oh, and there's a "screaming victim's skull" lodged in a bulb where their heads should be. Shudder. Additionally, there are the "Thamesfolk" - people turned almost reptilian by the noxious Thames water over time - and their 'pets', which are some long-tailed and clawed creatures called the "Thames Hounds", and more.
