Dev Log #1 | Design Talk | Amanda

[p]Hey folks, Nolyn here.[/p][p]So, let's talk about Service With A Shotgun and the pixel art glow-up that happened somewhere between "haha look at this gremlin" and "oh no I accidentally developed an aesthetic." Today's subject: Amanda.[/p]
šŸ’€ The Original Art (aka: I tried)
[p]I’m not an artist. Let’s get that out of the way. Amanda was straight up practice. When I worked on her, I never did any pixel art, or at least very little when I started working on her. Her aesthetic in the original one was just the best I could do if I'm being honest.
[/p][p]But fast forward a few months and now the game has actual tone and themes and, like... feelings. So I had to put my Big Dev Pantsā„¢ on and figure out how to make Amanda still feel like Amanda - chaotic punk soul and all - but in a way that doesn't look like I drew her in MS Paint while eating hot chips.
[/p]
And with the amazing touch of Sorahn, SHE LIVES.
[p]What Sorahn made was the vision from the get-go aside from the iconic pink hair, that part was his own touch. the idea for Amanda was that one customer you'd never hang out with out of work but always when you're on the clock. I think I got it pretty solid with the writing but Sorahn really made it come to life in ways I never could've. Massive shout out here! If you wanna see more, you can find it on Sorahn's X account!

Super excited to see all the love for her from your comments :D Stay tuned for more design insights from yours truly. You won't believe what Dr. Scott looked like.

1500 Wishlists!

[p]Hey folks, Nolyn here!

I was about to make a post for 1000 Wishlists, but I woke up today to over 1500!!!!

(╯°▔°)╯︵ ┻━┻

Seriously though, thank you for the love, it means a lot šŸ’œ There’s AWESOME stuff coming soon and I’m cooking up some sneak peeks, so you can meet the SWAS's character crew in more detail. Perhaps in more detail than the would like to (cough old art cough).

Thank you again, this is mind-blowing.[/p][p]Here’s a little totally harmless teaser to hold you over (don't ask...)[/p][p] [dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p]

We're in Debut Festival!
šŸ›’šŸ’„WELCOME TO RETAIL HELL (BUT MAKE IT FESTIVE)šŸ’„šŸ›’
[p]
Service With A Shotgun has officially entered the Debut Festival like a coupon-crazed customer five minutes before closing.[/p][p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p][/p][p]Yes, we’re that game where you provide excellent customer service during the actual apocalypse. Think Black Friday meets Mad Max... but with more retail and way less sanity. And now, we're doing all of that while basking in the glorious spotlight of Debut Festival!
[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]So if you've ever dreamed of:[/p]
 • [p]Shooting hoards of zombies during your shift[/p]
 • [p]Serving unhinged customers who might or might not try to kill you[/p]
 • [p]Setting up blockades, barbed wires and glue traps to catch the undead (or the customers)[/p]
[p]You're in the right place.
[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Play the demo now, survive your first shift.
[p][/p]
And Wishlist like your life depends on it.

[dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]
Dev Log: Demo Patch #1
Hey everyone!
[p][/p][p]Just pushed an update to the Service With A Shotgun demo, and wanted to share some of the changes, fixes, and behind-the-scenes thoughts with you. This one’s all about intensity, screens behaving properly, and a bit of clean-up across the board.[/p][p][/p]
New: Zombie Intensity (Formerly "Read Speed")
[p]Swapped out the old ā€œRead Speedā€ setting and turned it into something more action-oriented: Zombie Intensity.[/p][p]This now adjusts zombie speed and spawn rate, instead of just affecting the scroll speed on characters.[/p][p]It should make each playthrough feel a bit more personal - whether you're into slow-burn or chaos from the first second.[/p][p][/p]
Headshots (Boom!)
[p]We’ve added headshots to zombies![/p][p]Still takes 3 hits to drop one, BUT… if the last shot is a headshot, you’ll get a 10 money as a reward (instead of 5!)[/p][p]It’s subtle, but it adds that extra layer of ā€œDid I aim that last one right?ā€[/p][p]Makes the gun feel way more satisfying. Pew pew.[/p][p][/p]
Bug Fixes & Tweaks
[p]Fullscreen bug on boot: Game no longer automatically boots into full screen.[/p][p]Settings not saving: Fixed! Your preferences should now stick between sessions & new games.[/p][p]Wide screen issues: On anything outside a 16:9 ratio, menus would break and players couldn’t leave settings - that’s fixed.[/p][p]New game resetting settings: Not anymore. Your settings are safe.[/p][p]Could pause / use radio during credits: You rebels. You can't anymore.[/p][p]Scroll history now works with Control key too: More ways to dig through the noise.[/p][p]Killmonger not appearing at Rus's on Day 6: Should be there now. Let us know if you still don’t see him.[/p][p]Killmonger ammo reward broke ammo cap: Fixed.

Thanks so much for playing and sharing your thoughts!
Keep it coming :D

Service With A Shotgun | Demo OUT NOW!
Hey there!
[p]Just dropped the demo forĀ Service With a Shotgun, a game where you’re stuck manning a beat-up shop in the middle of the zombie apocalypse. It’s part visual novel, part wave FPS, and all chaos.

[/p][p]You have to deal with bizarre customers, slap together last-minute defences, and try not to die.[/p][p]
[/p][p]I used to work retail, so this is basically therapy.
[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]It’s weird, chaotic, and unhinged. Proud of it! Hope you enjoy![/p][p]
