V0.0795 - Building an Empire, One Island at a Time

[p]The campaign map is finally starting to feel like a proper strategic layer for empire building. This update focuses on making your multi-island empire actually feel connected and meaningful, with a major new progression system and tons of quality-of-life improvements.[/p][p]Island Tiers: Your Settlement's Growth Matters[/p][p]The biggest addition is the island tier system. Your settlement level now determines what you can build on each island. Want to construct those high-tier buildings? You'll need to develop your settlement first. This creates a natural progression curve across the campaign—early islands become foundations for your empire while later islands demand you've mastered the fundamentals.[/p][p]This ties directly into the upcoming inter-island trade system. Soon, you'll be able to connect your islands, upgrade them further, and create resource flows between territories (once you've cleared the corruption, of course). The tier system is the foundation for turning your scattered settlements into an interconnected empire.

[/p][p]Campaign Map Overhaul[/p][p]The campaign minimap received substantial work to make it actually useful. It's now much more legible, scales properly for future expansion, and you can navigate by clicking directly on islands. Each island displays its status and name clearly, with updated markers that sit above the map instead of getting lost in it.[/p][p]The island info screen now shows you exactly which foci are present, along with remaining resources and corruption extent. No more g[/p][p]uessing what's waiting for you when you arrive—you can plan your approach before you commit.[/p][p][/p][p]Smoother Sailing[/p][p]Boat navigation has been completely reworked. No more drift-turns or inconsistent movement. There's now a clear effect marker showing your destination, and the whole system feels significantly more responsive. Travel speed in campaign mode has been slowed down to give you time to appreciate the journey and make deliberate navigation choices.[/p][p]The campaign map also now has a proper day/night cycle, integrated sound manager, and the storyteller display is fully functional—meaning we can finally tell the complete campaign narrative as you explore.[/p][p]Better Island Starts[/p][p]The island mode embark screen received attention too. Choosing your starting resources is clearer and less fiddly, plus there's now a suggested loadout that gives new players a solid foundation without being prescriptive. Learn the systems first, then experiment with custom starts.[/p][p]What's Next?[/p][p]Inter-island trade and upgrades are coming next. The goal is to let you build trade routes between cleared islands, share resources across your empire, and upgrade settlements beyond their initial limits. The corruption wants to keep your islands isolated—you'll need to push it back to truly connect your civilization.[/p][p]The campaign is starting to feel like a proper strategic journey rather than isolated scenarios. Excited to see where this goes.[/p]
