The State Machine Update

[p]Yo yo yo! This week I've been working on revamping the menu system for the game and even made a Dev Vlog.[/p][p][/p]
The Updates
[p]You'll notice this update as soon as you launch the game, there's a new intro (gotta shout out Godot), new main menu, settings, path select and in-game menu. [/p][p][/p][p]It's pretty simplistic but very clean, which I really enjoy. Of course, it's not the final form but like everything else it's a new iteration.[/p][p][/p]
Did Someone Say State Machines?
[p]Yea, so the new menu system operates on a custom State Machine. The actual foundation of the design was found somewhere on YouTube and unfortunately I can't remember exactly who but it's not that complicated...[/p][p][/p]
Is The Future Still Bright?
[p]In terms of the future of the game, we're still on track heading straight for the Demo. I decided that I'm going to take my time and not try and rush it. I want to make a great first impression and I think it'll help me with being more patient lol. [/p][p][/p][p]I pretty much hit all the targets set out in the original post for the Roadmap so the next phase is to generate another one with an actual date tied to it. [/p][p][/p][p]I'm not sure if I'll keep pushing the rest of the new updates into the Playtest, I would like for some of it to still be a surprise to those who have been playing, but that's undecided at the moment. The Polish Protocol Update

[p]Yo! This week’s been pretty busy on the personal front, so this update doesn’t include any major new features. That said, it does bring some important quality-of-life improvements in preparation for the Demo. Pretty much some small tweaks that may not wow you immediately, but will make the experience smoother overall.

[p]I plan on taking the next week to determine a release plan for the Demo. This should include a date, content inclusion/exclusion and any final touches to be included.

The DataTune Update

[p]Hey everyone! I hope you’re all doing great! First off, huge thanks to everyone who signed up for the Playtest and hit that Wishlist button, we smashed past my first milestone of 50 Wishlists and are now sitting at 72! On top of that, we’ve got 300+ Playtest participants, which is incredible. Thank you all for the support![/p][p][/p]
Did you say new content?
[p]This week I’ve been working on a brand-new update I’m calling The DataTune Update! It comes in two parts: [/p][p][/p][h3]The Data[/h3]
  • [p]The summary page at the end of each mining session has been completely overhauled! You’ll now see data analytics from your gameplay, presented in fancy new charts. It also tracks and shows your personal high scores across multiple stats.[/p]

[p]"These new analytic tools should help you gauge areas of improvement as a miner so you can mine more efficiently" ~ EMN [/p][p][/p][h3]The Tunes[/h3][p]Four new upgrades are here! My favorite is the AetherNet Radio Station, which brings hilarious new content during your mining sessions (I won’t spoil it). The other three upgrades are:[/p]

Bug Fixes!
  • [p]Casino odds lowered (they were way too high before).[/p]

[p]We’ve put together a roadmap of what’s left until the Demo, including this week’s updates. It’s subject to change based on your feedback, but it gives a good idea of what’s ahead. What to Expect
[p]For this first round of Playtesting, 3025 v0.10 will be available. It will be open to the public, and the main point here is to gather as much feedback as possible about the initial phase of the game. I've included links to Google Forms and a Discord that will help gather any suggestions, critiques, and bugs you may have during your experience. [/p][p][/p]
Current State of the Game?
[p]Currently, the Playtest is focused on the first opening to the game. Here's a quick list of what's included:[/p]

  • [p]Part 1 of the story (i.e., there is a story-driven end to the playtest)[/p]
  • [p]The first available job in the world of Alterra[/p]
  • [p]The first available leisure spot, Lyra's Shining Star (AKA a casino)[/p]
  • [p]Hunger and thirst system[/p]

The Future of 3025
[p]Well, that's up to you! I do have an overall vision of what the game is meant to be on release, but I would like the community to be heavily involved in terms of what takes priority. There are currently two mindsets I have. The first is to completely polish the first phase of the game (i.e., what is currently available). The second is to work towards new features (e.g., new jobs, leisure locations, and life sim aspects like a banking system and investment opportunities). I will use the reception of this Playtest to guide where we go from here. The overall goal of the complete game would be to have multiple jobs for players to earn money and discover the story behind the world, multiple ways to spend the money earned for fun (e.g., casino, arcade, luxuries), and lastly, more ways for the player to grow wealth within the world (e.g., stock market, housing market, etc.). [/p][p][/p][p]In a less serious tone, I would like to build a glorified Purble Place.[/p][p][/p]
