SR #19: Dark Energy Draws Near

Dark Energy - Abiotic Factor’s next major update - is as close as it has ever been and creeping ever closer as you read this sneak peek of things to come on February 4th.

Let’s focus our Dark Lens, shall we?

[h3]Welcome to Beautiful Power Services[/h3]
The plants have been well-cared for in Power Services. You could stay here as long as you’d like. You might even feel compelled to. But what of the chaos in the center?


[h3]Anteverse II C[/h3]
The settlement here is almost as extraordinary as the nearby singularity.


[h3]The Reactors[/h3]
Further below lies a sprawling sector, each region connected via its own internal tram line. Unfortunately, several systems have been rendered inoperable due to the current security breach, and scientists may find themselves running for cover in this radioactive warzone.



Scattered among the myriad halls of the Cascade Atomic Division, more volatile foes - and perhaps even friends - will attempt to halt your descent. They aren’t called Gatekeepers for nothing.



[h3]Where The Old Ones Lie[/h3]
Little can be said of this destination. It’s entirely classified, and even if it weren’t, you would surely go mad thinking about it over the next couple of weeks.



[h3]Care to Trade?[/h3]
Along with the new advent of an old friend - that is, a traveling trader- older existing traders, like Warren or the Blacksmith will now be directly interactable for trade. No more dropping items into machines nearby! At least not those machines. Nearby those traders…


[h3]Corn[/h3]
Speaking of dropping things into machines, you’ll find a new pathway to cleansing Infected Corn of its contamination.


[h3]Rocketman[/h3]
Some things require no introduction.



[h3]New ‘Nades[/h3]
Along with dazzling new explosives, scientists will be able to craft a plethora of new, throwable “grenades” to fling at unsuspecting foes. They will not expect this one, we assure you.



[h3]More Ammo Types[/h3]
There will be a few new ammo types for some of the weapons that have fallen out of style. And for some weapons which are not yet introduced.


[h3]Main Menu Backgrounds[/h3]
We’re doing a lot more than what’s laid out here - wouldn’t want to spoil it all, would we? - but we do want to show off a little feature we’ve been tinkering with, which is the ability to unlock and set your own preferred background scene in the Main Menu. These will largely be tied to Sector Progression achievements for the time being, but we’re planning to add a whole lot more in the future.

We can't get down there, but every instrument here just peaked for about 30 seconds. Like something HUGE just came through.

I can't read the data too clearly, but it maps to signatures from 299? Whatever it was, it was bigger than anything I've ever seen. There's rumbling, like something's moving down there, but we can't get close.
