Update 0.70: Happy Holidays and Merry Giftsmash! 🎄

[p]Hello, Tavern Keepers 🍻 [/p][p]The holidays are here and we are celebrating in Tavern Keeper with you in our very first in-game event. 🎄 [/p][p][/p][h3]HAPPY GIFTSMASH[/h3][p]From December 24th now till January 6th, a festive event called Giftsmash is happening in Tavern Keeper. During this event, you can build a special item called the “Giftsmash Tree”. Patrons will leave little presents under it, filled with incredible decorations and custom designs submitted by other players.[/p][p]
[/p][p]The community unleashed its creativity with Design Mode and cooked up some amazing holiday-inspired designs for the presents! You still can submit a decoration of your own - know more here.[/p][p]
And that’s not all! There are seasonal collectible cards, some festive touches here and there, and in-world letters and gazettes that shine a light on why it’s called the Giftsmash season - spoiler alert, it has to do with gifts... and a bit of chaos. Yayyy, Cuthbert was gifted an eye! He lost his original one during the Cinematic… our poor boy.[/p][p] If you wish, you can opt out of this event in the Settings (under Extras).[/p][h3]
HEADING INTO 2026[/h3][p]The last couple of months have been a wild ride for us at Greenheart Games. Since releasing Tavern Keeper into Early Access, the response from the community has been incredibly encouraging. We’ve been putting your feedback to work, delivering over 50 smaller patches and a larger Quality-of-Life update.[/p][p][/p][p]Next year will be a busy year for Tavern Keeper. We’re working on new tools like a Color Picker for Design Mode, new regions and taverns to explore, more stories, deeper progression for your tavern and staff, and a few surprises we’re saving for later. Schedule presets, changes to temperature, dirt, and more - Update 0.69

[p]Hello, Tavern Keepers! 🍻[/p][p]Over the past weeks, we’ve been combing through all the suggestions shared, which inspired this first set of improvements. Update 0.69 focuses on some quality-of-life changes and addresses common frustrations, from better onboarding for firefighting and smarter janitors, to improved storage reservations and schedule presets.
[/p][p]Thanks to all who have played the game so far and shared feedback with us, you’ve made this happen. Hope you all enjoy this update. [/p][p]Here is the full changelog:[/p][p][/p][h3]GAMEPLAY[/h3]
  • [p]You can now save and apply schedule presets for staff, rooms, and objects.[/p][p][/p]
  • [p]More effective janitors, less dirt spawning around the tavern, and unzoned areas stay clean for longer.[/p]
  • [p]You can now reserve an entire storage unit for product categories rather than just individual products.[/p][p][/p]
  • [p]The soup pot now shows a status icon when it's awaiting staff to finish cooking. [/p]
  • [p]Custom decorations set to block pathfinding are now much easier to walk around, blocking less space.[/p]
  • [p]Meal Designer is more intuitive and shows which ingredient type needs to be selected next.[/p]
  • [p]Temperature ratings now consider the weather. If it is cold outside, patrons will be less likely to complain about the heat inside (and vice versa).[/p]
  • [p]Temperature now also shows how much each rating contributed to the overall satisfaction of a patron. [/p]
  • [p]Patron-accessible rooms now have an open/ closed trait to make it clearer when taprooms are accessible to patrons.[/p][p][/p]
  • [p]Improved onboarding for firefighting and polishing floor mechanics, with directions in the tooltips to guide you.[/p][p][/p]
  • [p]New Walkability overlay, showing how much space objects block around them, and which tavern areas are staff-only. We’ve also added a Handbook entry for this new overlay.[/p][p][/p]
  • [p]The staff bed assignment button now shows the number of staff assigned, and the tooltip shows their names.[/p][p][/p]
  • [p]Staff are now less likely to get the dislike skill trait on a skill they are good at. [/p][p][/p]
[h3]STORY AND TEXT[/h3]
  • [p]Added the ability to deceive Dorothy in the Innocent Until Proven Guild-y story and changed the joke endings to go to the credits screen instead of closing the game.[/p]
  • [p]Better onboarding and explanation of Vera's Experiments in the Gugamush story.[/p]
  • [p]Clarified random event effects and story choices by adding more tavern log entries. [/p]
  • [p]Renamed Nomad's Nectar because... It's actually a brew. 😅[/p]
  • [p]Handbook information improvements.[/p]
  • [p]Renamed "Not Assigned" to "Not Started" in task lists to better reflect its progress.[/p]
  • [p]Food being cooked now shows "Cooking in progress" instead of appearing unavailable.
