PLEASE REVIEW THE GAME!

Heya!

So I've been told that a game needs to get at least 10-ish reviews from people that buy the game at launch to not be considered 'shovelware' and get drowned into oblivion.

So if you have bought the game then PLEASE leave a review! That would help me a LOT. Things are not looking good for the game at the moment and I think it would be sad if steam decides to categorize it as shovelware. I'll do my best to improve the store presence because I know it's not good and that I've put more work into the game itself than into marketing and presenting it.

Thank you!

Steam Deck Support

Heya,

I just wanted to share my plans regarding Steam Deck compatibility and verification.
I've done my best to make Temple Of Rust playable on Steam Deck and TV. As far as I can tell it meets all criteria to get verified but I have no way to request a slot in the review queue and will have to wait until Steam decides to add it.

I would love to hear from anyone who can test it on Steam Deck since I don't own one myself. Let me know if the text is readable and if there are any other issues I will do my best to resolve them because I think this game is ideal for the device.

Best regards,
James

FULL RELEASE v1.0

I've spent the last Months polishing and finalizing the game. I'm pretty exhausted so I can't say much. I hope it plays smooth for everyone and that you enjoy this game as much as I do. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

If you notice any issues PLEASE let me know in the steam discussions!

I need a bit of rest and with the low sun I'm not getting much solar power at the moment but I'll be around to check if anyone is having problems and do my best to sort things out.

Best regards and have fun!
-James

ENTERING STEAM BASH BASH!

So, after 2 months of 'crunch time' I'm happy to give you a fresh update! With better graphics and a lot of new features!

Also this update comes to celebrate the upcoming steam BashBash event and I am super happy to be invited to participate!

However the last days/weeks have been ultra stressful and I'm not 100% happy with the current state of the game so I'll continue to update this game during the event. (It's cool, I just wanted more...)

I hope you all enjoy it anyway and I'll post more news about the event soon!
Now I have to update the trailer and screenshots.

Here a short list of changes:
  • Upscaled ALL graphics to HD ... this was a big one!
  • Added the start of the story mode (And I finally have the rest of the story sorted).
  • Added BashBash mode, inspired by the steam event I think I'll make this part of the final game too!
  • Reworked the combat mechanics and AI.
  • No more stick! The Sling does all the combat now, close up and ranged!
  • New melee combos, you can charge the melee by holding it or hit with the right timing.
  • Added some music and working on more.
  • Added a few more sound effects, more to come!
  • Made the main menu nice and cozy... I like campfires.
  • Tons of other stuff, I've kinda reworked the whole game

As always, please let me know what you think!

And please ADD THIS GAME TO YOUR WISHLIST to get notified when it releases!

Best regards,
James

Hello Again!

Heya Folks!

It's been a while again since I've had the time and focus for working on this game or doing digital work in general. BUT I'M BACK! And I want to roll out this game!

I don't want to overpromise and I guess it's best to keep expectations realistic and low since I'm the only person working on this. That means I do all the planning/task organising, graphics, coding, sound, music and public relations ( like this announcement ) and more. Setting up all the Steam related images/texts/acchievements and so on is also pretty time consuming btw. and it's super hard to explain to anybody just how much work it is to make and distribute a niche game -alone-.

That aside, here's what I've been up to:

-I've doubled the resolution of the game to HD (720p) and re-rendered all game sprites so you can now enjoy better details of the characters an environment. (TONS OF WORK!)
-Stepping away from the procedural levels to a more mixed solution. I just didn't like the results and having more handmade parts just makes the game feel and look better. I'll still be using some procedural elements and choices but not quite sure how much and where.
-Beefed up the melee combat to squeeze more juice out of it and make it even more fun to smack things up with the bat. Also added some different melee upgrades to the bat.
-Still working out the leveling system for the Items. For now, some will drop or be found and others might be handed to the player or upgraded somehow.

What I'm doing now:

-Trying to make a solid outline for the complete game A-Z. So I'm making a starting point and an endgame type scenario and then going to connect the two.
-Contnue to re-render the old content into the higher resolution.
-Making a few new enemy types and reworking the AI.
-Adding interesting skills and weapon types.
-Working out some music (play guitar with the game vibe in mind).
-Working on how to communicate the games story and how to tighten the atmosphere.
-Sort out my relationship with Steam. (Yeah, I wouldn't mind to compensate my efforts with a bit of cash)
-Prepare new screenshots, assets and a trailer/teaser for the Steam Store.
-lot's more...

What you can do:

-Just say "HI!" in the comments to let me know that you are there. Or let me know what you like about the game.
-Write to your favorite publishers/online magazine/youtubers that you would like them to take a closer look at this project.
-Start discussions with me in the Community Hub
-Whatever else you want.
-Be yourself.

Thanks for the read!

Best regards,
James
