That experience continues today in Deceit 2, where the legacy of the original lives on - rebuilt for the next generation of deception.[/p][p]Whether you’re a returning veteran or a new test subject, here’s how to keep playing Deceit - and what’s next for the community.[/p][p][/p][h3]How to Access Deceit 1 (CryEngine Version)[/h3][p]For players who still want to revisit the original Deceit 1 - although the game is being removed from the Steam store, we’re leaving the servers online with matchmaking disabled - allowing private matches to continue for anyone with the game in their Steam library. However, Deceit 2 and its Legacy Mode represent the future of the series, with ongoing updates, technical support, and live ranked play.[/p][p][/p][h3]How to Access Legacy Mode[/h3][p]Now powered by a modern engine with active support & development - the best way to play Deceit’s iconic social deception gameplay in the future will be through Legacy Mode in Deceit 2.[/p][p]This mode brings back the intensity, tension, and pacing that made the original unforgettable. We’ve rebuilt Legacy Mode from the ground up to preserve the spirit of Deceit 1 while expanding what’s possible for years to come. Jumping into the classic Deceit experience has never been easier.[/p][p]From the main menu of Deceit 2, simply navigate to the “Legacy” tab, and click play.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][h3]The Manor Returns – November 20th[/h3][p]We’re thrilled to announce that Manor will return to Legacy Mode in Deceit 2 on November 20th! This reimagined map captures everything that made the original so iconic, now rebuilt for smoother movement, improved lighting, and even more tension around every corner. This update includes some improvements to the player controller and visuals in line with community feedback.[/p][p]You voted for the Arctic map to be next - and we're also working on it. [p]To our Deceit players,[/p][p][/p][p]Today, we’re announcing that we are beginning the process of winding down Deceit 1. We have disabled the ability to buy tokens within the game, and the DLCs will be removed from sale imminently and a full shutdown of the game on the 6th of November. [/p][p][/p][p]Deceit 1 was our first title on Steam and introduced millions of players to a unique social deception experience that helped launch our studio. As time has gone on, the underlying infrastructure and engine that Deceit 1 is built on have become increasingly outdated, making the game significantly harder to maintain and secure. In addition, many aspects of the original game mode are now available in Deceit 2, via Legacy Mode, a feature we continue to refine and expand with your feedback and support.[/p][p][/p][p]Over the past few years, the time and effort required to keep Deceit 1 running has continued to grow; due in part to aging technology, vulnerability to DDOS attacks, and rising instances of cheating that are all much more difficult to address on this older platform. In parallel, compliance with new regulations and legislation around the world, but particularly in the United Kingdom, have all placed additional strain on a system that wasn’t built with today’s standards in mind.[/p][p][/p][p]It’s become clear that continuing to support Deceit 1 takes vital resources away from where we believe the future lies. And that future is bright.[/p][p][/p][p]We’ve heard your feedback, and we know that many of you cherish the original Deceit experience, particularly its intensity and pace of gameplay. That’s why we’ve rebuilt a Legacy Mode from the ground up in Deceit 2, bringing the most iconic elements into a new era of gameplay, visuals, and systems. Legacy Mode in Deceit 2 is our way of honoring what made the original so special, while refining it for the next generation of players.[/p][p][/p][p]Deceit 2 represents our vision for the future. I bought one of the DLCs only recently - can I get a refund? [/p][p]All refund requests are handled via Steam. Please contact them directly to see if you are eligible under their refund policy.[/p][p][/p][p]Q. What happens with all my skins, can I have them in Deceit 2? [/p][p]We will not be able to transfer any skins over to Deceit 2, these are separate games built on different tech. As such, the skins will not be compatible with Deceit 2 characters.[/p][p][/p][p]We do however have some cosmetics from Deceit 1 in Deceit 2:[/p]

• [p]The 6 Character Masquerade skins owned in Deceit 1 were remade and given out in Deceit 2[/p]
• [p]A voted-on cosmetic for each of the 6 characters have been reimagined from Deceit 1 and given out in Deceit 2 based on performance criteria - players can no longer achieve this criteria but can claim their earned rewards[/p]

[p]Q. What about emblems? [/p][p]We have transferred all eligible over from accounts on Deceit 1 to Deceit 2. This was done on the 2nd of May. 
[/p][p]Q. My account is banned in Deceit 1, can I play Deceit 2? [/p][p]For the vast majority of players, yes, offences in Deceit 1 are separate from Deceit 2.[/p][p]

[h2]Legacy Mode Has Arrived in Deceit 2[/h2][p][/p][p][/p][p]Launching today in beta, Legacy Mode brings back the classic 6-player deception you remember from Deceit in 2018. It is our tribute to the players who made Deceit what it is today.[/p][p][/p][p]As we continue our development on Deceit 2, the original game’s infrastructure is getting older, and the game engine it uses has not been updated in 3 years. Rather than let it fade, we’re bringing its most iconic experience into the modern era - rebuilt, and now part of the future. Based on your feedback, our primary influence has been the “legacy” version of the mode from 2018.[/p][p][/p][p]Legacy Mode rewards sharp instincts and fast thinking. Innocents must collaborate, gather light items, protect Antidote carriers, and track suspects. Infected players must stay coordinated, avoid getting caught drinking, and strike decisively.[/p][p][/p][p]To launch Legacy Mode, open Deceit 2 and press the Legacy button on the Play tab:
[/p][p][/p][p]This is a public beta and will have some quirks. We will continue to iterate and develop Legacy with feedback from the community, and look forward to taking the original game mode further with you.[/p][p]

As the Truth Seekers Anonymous step into the foreboding halls of Millhaven Asylum, they're not adorned in attire fit for a dark sacrifice – no gothic garb or pentagram pendants here. Instead, their Arrival Outfits whisper tales of the once ordinary lives they led. So lean in close, for we have a chilling tale to share as night falls…

Charming and meticulous, Alex possesses a knack for making those around him feel at ease. Whether he's coaxing information from club bouncers about the whereabouts of GQ's Man of the Year or playfully engaging with a budding influencer eager to spill secrets about her TikTok competitors, Alex is the master of the game. His 'Scruffy Smart' attire strikes the perfect balance for mingling and gathering intel, though it might not be the best choice for darker deeds of deception and betrayal.

[h3]Chang[/h3]
Chang doesn't rely on lavish attire to command respect. A mere twitch of his lip or the subtle clenching of his fist sends shivers down spines. Cloaked in an all-black ensemble, his ever-present sunglasses — a signature even at night — epitomise the essence of Urban Life. But as he steps into the labyrinthine corridors of Millhaven Asylum, one wonders: can this streetwise enigma navigate the shadows and secrets of such a haunting place?

Lisa has little patience for the foolish. Her tenure in the Metropolitan police force has shown her the underbelly of society, where deception often goes unchecked. It's this disdain for injustice that drives her to the Truth Seekers Anonymous forum. Her chosen attire for the rendezvous speaks volumes: pragmatic cargo pants paired with rugged boots/trainers, painting the portrait of the unyielding force of justice she embodies.

[h3]Rachel[/h3]
As a Senior Account Executive, Rachel's attire mirrors her professional stature. Her days are a whirlwind of client meetings, but as night falls, she delves into the shadowy mysteries discussed in the forum. Keen on keeping her everyday life a secret from fellow Truth Seekers, Rachel's choice of Activewear – sleek leggings paired with a snug sweater – is both discrete and deliberate.

Enigmatic and reserved, Hans is a man shrouded in mystery. Few can claim to truly know him, as he guards his past with a quiet intensity. Yet, when he steps into the Millhaven Asylum gathering alongside fellow Truth Seekers, his attire speaks volumes. The Flight Suit he dons is not just practical and snug; it subtly suggests a life experienced at altitudes others can only dream of.

Hailing from Japan, Nina's vibrant hues and playful cat ears are a testament to her origins. She's an open book, wearing her emotions openly, a trait that initially drew her to the sanctuary of the Truth Seekers Anonymous forum. Yet, amidst the haunting backdrop of Millhaven Asylum, her endearing Kawaii-inspired ensemble stands in stark, jarring contrast to the surrounding dread.

After an exhausting day at work, Priya arrived at Millhaven Asylum still in her professional attire. Meeting this eclectic group of strangers, she stands out in her polished trousers and elegant scarf. This ensemble, perfect for instilling confidence in her pharmacy patients, assures them of her expertise. It's the attire of someone who meticulously ensures their well-being, safeguarding them from the financial burdens of life-saving medications.

[h3]Jak[/h3]
Jak, with his sharp wit and captivating smile, has always been a force to be reckoned with. His undeniable charm has won over many, not just the ladies, and he's never been one to shy away from using that to his advantage. His attire? A perfect reflection of his penchant for luxury and allure. As he strides into the Truth Seekers' gathering, his 'Sleekly Debonair' ensemble radiates an unmatched confidence. But even such bravado might waver in the face of the chilling depths of Millhaven Asylum.

[h3]Beck[/h3]
Beck is a master of their craft, ensuring art "restorations" are nothing short of perfection. Immersed in the world of galleries and high-end auctions, they've cultivated an image that mirrors the elite circles they navigate. Donning designer suits and opulent watches, Beck's Formalwear ensemble is a masterpiece of its own. Yet, within the haunting confines of Millhaven Asylum, they'll need to channel a different kind of creativity to navigate the shadows and emerge unscathed.


[h2]Legacy Skins[/h2]
A nod to our dedicated "Deceit 1" players, we're honouring your commitment with exclusive rewards. Six distinct groups have been crafted, each with its own criteria. Players only need to meet one of the requirements of the group to qualify. The number of groups you complete will determine how many Legacy Skins you can claim in "Deceit 2". And here's the cherry on top: these skins were handpicked based on community votes!

[h2]Masquerade Skins [/h2]
Remember those iconic outfits from our grand "Deceit 1" event in the summer of 2022? For those who earned these legendary skins, they'll seamlessly transition into "Deceit 2". A little piece of history to carry forward.

[h2]Plinths[/h2]
Introducing a fresh feature to elevate your game! In the lobbies, characters will now proudly stand on customisable plinths. And for our "Deceit 1" veterans, we haven't forgotten our promise. All those emblems you cherished? They're being transformed into unique plinths in "Deceit 2".
