v4.5.0 - Challenge System
Hey all,
We're extremely excited to announce that with patch v4.5.0 comes one of the biggest updates to Deceit that has happened in a long time, and the first of many to come this year. Without further ado, let's get into it...
Overview
Challenges are composed from a set of tasks that, when completed, allow players to earn a variety of rewards including XP & rare Emblem unlocks. Starting with this update we'll be rolling out daily challenges, with further expansions planned for the near future. Challenges can be viewed, and activated, from the main menu. Once in-game, players can check what challenges they have active by using the 'Q' menu.
Challenge Slots
Starting from the moment you first play Deceit, players will unlock slots to place their challenges in. There are a total of 6 slots that one can unlock through levelling up, with the last slot being made available at level 50. In order to progress a challenge you must first activate it, putting it into an empty slot. Players can also opt to deactivate a challenge to free up that slot back up again. Deactivating a challenge will clear any progress made on it and will return it to the set of available challenges.
Challenge Types
There are two types of challenges, single and double. Single challenges are the most basic version, simply complete the set of tasks within the challenge to earn the reward. With double challenges there's a little more to it, tasks are split into "Innocent" and "Infected" sections. Tasks in these sections can only be progressed when you're playing as the associated team. Once you've completed the tasks under one team you're able to hand in the challenge to earn that team's rewards. Happen to prefer the other team's rewards? No problem. Completing both sides of the challenge enables you to choose which set of rewards you'd prefer.
Daily Challenges
Refreshing every day at midnight UTC, players will receive a collection of 8 challenges ranging from easy difficulty to very hard. These challenges are randomly generated from a set of tasks, combined to reach the required difficulty.
Provided you meet the required level, dailies can be activated from the main menu. This allows you to progress it and ensures it won't expire. Dailies that aren't activated will automatically expire at midnight, removing them from your list of available challenges. If you deactivate a challenge and it has passed its expiry time it will also be automatically removed.
Each daily has a randomly generated set of rewards with harder challenges offering better rewards. These currently include:
Along with the above there is also a unique emblem available to be unlocked per each challenge difficulty. The rarity of these emblems are as follows:
Challenge Chips
Challenge chips allow you to perform a set of actions on your daily challenges. You'll earn one of these per day, at the same time as your daily challenge regeneration, capping at 5. These can also be earned from challenges, earning them this way allows you to temporarily break the cap. Once you've got a challenge chip you can use it from within the main menu's challenge interface in order to:
Soon the Easter Bunny will be passing through to do their yearly collection of Easter eggs. Whilst they're here players will be able to acquire an array of new Easter-themed rewards through earning Easter points from finding eggs in-game, challenge rewards & the loot booth.
On top of the above we'll be using the new challenge system to bring those that opt into purchasing an Event Pass a brand new Easter storyline to be played through. As players progress along the story they will earn new, limited time, Easter-themed rewards, as well as extra Easter points to spend.
Those participating can expect to be able to acquire a hopping mad Yeti, Nina after a chocolate eating contest, Chang on the Easter Bunny's shoulders, and so much more. We'll also be putting the previous year's Easter cosmetics into the loot booth for players to obtain again.
Make sure you get online during the 2 week long event to grab what you can!
