Update on Ranked Season Length

Based on feedback, we've decided that we will not be changing the season length from 1 to 3 months in this update. We are first working on new ranked rewards, which we expect to roll out from the end of the March season. We’ve been working on changes to the queue dodging system, and these will be rolling out over the course of this month.

See you in-game!

Christmas 2019 In-Game Event

Christmas Event: Festive Extravaganza

With the festive season in full swing, we're happy to announce the release of our Christmas Event along with several quality of life changes. During the event you’ll be able to earn a wide variety of unique cosmetic seasonal rewards whilst deceiving in our festively decorated maps!

How to gain the new rewards:
Want to go after all the exclusive Christmas rewards? All you need to do is play Deceit as you normally would, and the XP you gain turns into Christmas Event points; earn enough and you’ll unlock some sweet rewards. Fret not, all XP boosts will also increase the amount of points you earn!

Lastly, there will be a special loot booth token available during the holiday. Each loot booth reward comes with a number of Christmas event points based on its tier, meaning that even common unlocks can help you chase down those legendary Christmas rewards.

What are the new rewards?
This year’s event rewards are visible on the event screen which is available in the top left of the main menu. You can also use this to track your progress towards the next reward and your overall progress throughout the event.

The rewards and their costs are as follows: ‘Christmas Tree’ Emblem - 750 points
Wreath Wristband - 3,750 points
‘Poorly’ Hans - 9,500 points
‘Be Quiet’ Rachel Victory Pose - 17,250 points

Christmas Tokens
Christmas Tokens will replace normal tokens for the duration of the event in both level up rewards and through token purchases (they will not replace the tokens awarded from the Werewolf and Vampire Packs).

Previous Christmas Rewards – In the loot booth for a limited time!

Planned Ranked Changes

Hey Everyone,

In the last game update we made some changes to the requirements for playing ranked. Firstly, you can now only queue for ranked games as a solo player; improving the integrity of our ranking system, mitigating opportunities for players to team up and unfairly modify the balance of the game.

Secondly, we changed the level requirement from 10 to 12, which doesn't sound like a lot but due to the XP curve it now takes around 50% more time to get to the level requirement for ranked, giving the player time to learn more about game mechanics and prepare themselves better before playing a competitive mode. Thirdly, as a free-to-play game we’ve seen a number of banned players creating new accounts to continue rule-breaking; you now need 3 terrors unlocked to play ranked, which creates a small pay-wall and helps us enforce the rules. Although this isn’t a replacement for our other player moderation systems, we’re happy with the results we’ve seen based on the changes we have made.

So what's next for ranked? After discussion with community, we're now considering the following changes:
Reward Improvements - we'd like to change the rewards system so that it doesn’t roll ones which you’ve already unlocked, as well as introduce more meaningful benefits that you can use for the season ahead
Seasons Length - we'll be changing season length from 1 month to 3 months to give players time to climb and show off when they reach the top (this includes the perk tree)
XP Rates - increase in XP gained in ranked by an additional 10% to reward the effort put in by players, as well as reworking our leaderboards
ELO Formula - we’ll be reworking the ELO formula to be resolving issues such as making it less punishing to players who get teammates of a different skill level to them
Season Start & End - new interfaces to show clearly the start and end of seasons, and having the season reset at a fixed time
Leaving Early - players that quit games before being eliminated will face a wait time before they can requeue

We'll be rolling out these changes over the coming months but in the meantime we'd love to hear your thoughts on them. It’s also worth mentioning that these updates are not set in stone and are subject to change based on testing and feedback. Please leave comments on this post or join the Deceit Discord to discuss with us.

See you in-game!
