TITANS 0.5.1: They came from the deep

Hello Tribesmen,

In today’s patch we update several game features hunting errors and squashing bugs. Our goal with this sprint was to fix some of the oldest ones that infested crafting, duplication and server-client negotiation.

Meanwhile, as a foundation for later work, we genetically spliced the Gazelle to finally obtain the perfect organism. Unclouded by conscience, remorse or the inability to return home. Our certified mad developers put a tiny bit of Lassie in them, while at the same time removing the Killer Whale sequences. It seemed such a good idea at the time, how could we have known they’ll develop a liking for oceanic trenches?

This, and our improved AI, will bring us a step forward in implementing other animals, including aggressive Lions and Baboons’ families. We expect that update to go live in september, since most of our programmers possess the strange notion of “vacation” and have insisted in actually going out in the sun instead of laying for most of august scripting fake ones.

Until then,
good hunting and godspeed.

NEW FEATURES
  • Gazelles will now properly return to their spawn point if left alone.
  • Gazelles’ herds will no longer deplete permanently under extensive hunting.

UPDATED FEATURES
  • Updated the damage system to be more reliable.
  • Suppressed the Bloody Gazelles attitude to occupy deep oceanic trenches. Hopefully they are back to their earthborne, herbivore ecological niche.
  • Optimized the animal AI to reduce CPU load in large numbers.
  • Trees no longer drop food when you hit them with an axe, since they refused to do so even when they should’ve.
  • Changed pickup mechanics. Now you’ll leave an item on the ground if the inventory is full instead of warping it out of existence.
  • Crafting subtracts the raw materials after the craft is complete, not before.
  • Crafting is aborted if the inventory is full at the time of creation.
  • Forges and warehouses can now be opened only by one player at a time to avoid duplication bugs and database conflicts.

BUGFIXES
  • Fixed a bug that prevented the player from interacting with workbenches.
  • Fixed a bug that let you pick up more items that you can hold.
  • Fixed a bug that let you craft items even if you could not.
  • Fixed a but that let you commit suicide by outrunning your own arrow.
  • Fixed a bug that let you commit suicide by running into a building with arrows struck in it. Seriously guys, the ingenuity!
  • Fixed a bug that let some gazelle ignore a few buildings despite the fact that they were expressly told not to.
  • Fixed a severe bug that disablet the personal respawn of Nomad Shelters.
  • Fixed a bug that let the Warden haunt you in your dreams after its death, screaming and rumbling.
  • Fixed a bug that let Giuda kill you silently with any weapon no matter the distance. Now you’ll hear the sound of your crushed bones, rejoice!

Patch Notes 0.5.0: The Age of Fire

Hello Tribesmen,

the update you long waited for is here. We trust your patience had been rewarded: now the game officially held all the features it packed before the rework... and several more like forging, fishing, crafting and cooking.

The time has come for the first Titan’s release. This massive deity can squash unprepared Tribesmen like flies, as the unready will be culled by Fire itself. So gather your friends, equip your best armours and bows! Craft hundreds of arrows, pack the occasional healing meal and get ready for this long fight. Be warned: to succeed you must coordinate and plan ahead, using the Titan’s own strength against its defences.

We hope you had time to train with the Wardens, as to unlock the titan you’ll have to defeat them, and then proceed to the Big T itself, all before time runs out. Rest for too long, wander off or run away and you’ll have to start anew.

And once you’ve succeeded? You and your friends will have to share his single Soul and keep it safe.. for our next releases. From there on Titans: DoT will differentiate from others survival games in that Land Ownership can only come from great deeds. Anyone can build a nomadic tribe but only the strongest can claim the land and start building their own, lasting Nation.

Good hunting and godspeed.

NEW FEATURES
  • The Fire Titan had been implemented with his unique arena.
  • The Fire Soul item is a new drop that’ll allow a future special tier of buildings.
  • Added the warehouses in the game. You can now store items in the Crude Vessels, a new building, and in the Granary of old.
  • Added crosshairs for Crafting, Forging, Gathering and storing items in warehouses.
  • Several buildings can now be snapped together to form contiguous walls or structures.
  • Added sound effects for bows and arrows.
  • Added additional sound effects for the Wardens.

UPDATED FEATURES
  • Changed the Gem lode to be more unique and recognizable.
  • The whole game Lighting has been overhauled. Again. We’re almost there. Or maybe not.
  • You can now use equipped consumables with Left Mouse button.
  • Changed the Fire Shard mesh to increase visibility.
  • Changed the names and description of a bunch of buildings.
  • Furnaces storage doubled, quality of life increased.
  • I yield. You won. Go ahead, have your arrows crafted every second (was five seconds).
  • Changed the player’s SFX, this is the second iteration for footsteps and mining/farming.

BUGFIXES
  • Fixed resources’ Shader Rimlight, whatever that means.
  • Fixed and optimized the Environment’s Shaders.
  • Fixed the Fog’s visualization errors.
  • Fixed a revenant crosshair bug when selecting an object from the hotbar.
  • Gazelles now understand the concept of privacy and won’t enter your home unannounced. Meet you there for lunch, RSVP.
  • Fixed a bug that let furnaces keep going when full, resulting in wasted production.
  • Fixed a bug that let you harvest meat from live Gazelles. That was gross.

TITANS 0.4.8 - Where's My Gazelle?

Hello everyone,

This week we uploaded sounds back into the game and developed a first, proper ingame soundtrack. This is the second iteration to the sound system, and our sound designers worked hard to give you back that marvelous GRONK GRONK that ye olde ninja gazelles made, except now it’s more like a MO OO OO and properly associated with mundane herbivores. Did you know that gazelles do really sound like that? I didn’t.

Along with that we implemented all other marvelous sounds that you will produce while farming, smithing, running and fighting. Now all we need is a farm and a bunch of kids singing E I E I O while we keep fixing the occasional bug.

Join us on Discord, to provideus feedback and further improve our newly acquired sound.

Good hunting and godspeed.

NEW FEATURES
  • The music is ON, baby.
  • The Gazelle now properly goes Moooo. It’s still scary.
  • The environment now has a wide range of appropriate sounds.
  • Player sound enabled. You will now hear Giuda as he approaches for a nice backstab.
  • Added a basic music and FX settings menu.
  • Added an HitMarker to the bow to improve its use in boss fights.
  • Added Building synchronization between players. You can now see and access other players resources in unguarded furnaces.

UPDATED FEATURES
  • Removed physical interaction between pickups and the player to avoid the Titans Football Team to kick them in the most remote areas of the map.
  • A few pickups now have a generic mesh instead a dedicated one, to avoid strange physical behaviours.
  • Fixed the Floating Fruits Bug. Again. I want to believe.
  • Optimized animal AI to improve CPU load.
  • Optimized building placement to improve CPU load.

BUGFIXES
  • Fixed a rare bug that prevented players to build anything after an untimely death.
  • Fixed a common crossair bug that spawned the crossair for all players.

TITANS 0.4.7 - Ye Olde Canyon

Hello everyone,

This week we have improved the Wardens' fight, based on our testers and player’s feedback. Previously the Wardens had a shorter spawn time and attacked everyone in sight. Now a peaceful, unaware player can avoid their wrath as long as nobody is attacking them and he didn’t do anything rash. We did so to avoid unintentional deaths for new players. Part of those changes are due to our internal Titan’s testing as seem to allow better coordination between players.

As a pet project, we opened up another small section of the map. We’re looking to iterate smaller, rapid additions to the map instead of the previous monolithic work of redoing kilometers at a time. Our goal is to have higher map quality, evocative scenery and more identifiable locations. Please give us feedback on that canyon so that we can tune this new workflow with your help!

Good hunting and godspeed.

NEW FEATURES
  • You can now use Left mouse Button to activate a selected quick slot consumable.
  • Added a new map section with dedicated resources.

UPDATED FEATURES
  • Increased the respawn time of Wardens to 15 minutes.
  • Wardens will no longer attack players unless they attack first. Once awaken, they stay hostile to any player.
  • Changed the Wardens Fireball VFX.
  • Weapons and quick slots now have a small delay before switching. Previously we got a rare bug on slow connections that allowed players to equip all the possible weapons at the same time. And then kill you.
  • Changed the bow firing position to slightly improve aim and precision.

BUGFIXES
  • Fixed a bug that prevent workbenches to be opened at all.
  • Fixed a cross-air problem on the Spears.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented the Wardens’ respawn.
  • Fixed a bug that kept spawning Fireballs on the Wardens even after their death.

TITANS 0.4.6 - For a fistfull of arrows.

Hello everyone,

This week we continue to improve the game and add selected features. We’re focussing on animations, sinchronicity and a new combat system for our Bows. Each bow now has a drag time that’ll add power and distance to the shot. We improved your freedom in aiming and gave the bow a new crossair to improve your aiming. Ideally, this will allow you to fight the titan on better terms and reward good aim and skill.

About the Fire Titan itself: we’re finally testing it internally and preparing to release it. Last time our testers happily managed to destroy everything we assembled, including my hopes and dreams. So we can’t give you a date for sure, but it’ll be in the near future, once we’re confident about the titan’s stability and replayability.

Good hunting and godspeed.

NEW FEATURES
  • New Bow and dedicated combat system, with draw strength and crossair.
  • New aiming animation. You can now recognize when someone’s going to shoot you.
  • New player animation when aiming from up close, you can now aim a little bit higher.

UPDATED FEATURES
  • All skins are now sinced between clients. You’ll be finally envied for having a Duck tattoo.
  • Melee attacks are now sinced up between players and can be foretold. This won’t prevent Giuda from backstabbing you at the least opportune moment.
  • Armour is now sinced up between players. Now Giuda will be able to properly assess if you’re too heavily armoured for a quick and inappropriate backstab.
  • Bow now prioritize using arrows in hotbar.
  • Wardens now attack the player only after someone attacked them.
  • Wardens now will be restored to full life if all players leave them alone for more than five minutes.

BUGFIXES
  • Fixed Arrows collisions, because we hated to see players using them to climb mountains only to jump out of the map.
  • Fixed a rare bug in which a player could hug a tree so bad dryads went envious of his merging abilities.
  • Fixed a bug in which the mining crossair did not turn red to inform you that the target was mineable.
  • Fixed a rare bug on the loading screen that prevented you to do anything short of killing your pc and burn down the house.
  • Severely nerfed the Gazelle Trade Union, as it prevented players to exploit them for resources.
  • Severely enhanced Gazelle respawn as it prevented them to show up and be killed.
  • Fixed a bug on Tools attack animation that crippled your player with a funny backache.
