Update 1.23 - Oculus Cross-Play and Touch support

Hi, Elven Assassins!
We have just released the new update that consists of the following:

Cross-Play

We have just enabled the cross-play functionality between Oculus and Steam! So sorry it took so long, but it was a quite complicated technical task with many issues to be fixed down the road to make this possible.

Thanks to this feature you can play with your friend who uses the Oculus version!

We don't guarantee we will support this forever, but hopefully, there will be no issues that would make us stop to support this great feature.

Oculus Touch Support

From now on we added official support for Oculus Touch.

There is one known issue when the laser pointer might be pointing a little be to upwards than it is reasonable. This happens only for the limited time and will be resolved in the next update!

Other bugfixes:
For those who have some issues with some words being changed from English to Korean the issue is now resolved.

Stay tuned for the tournaments which are coming next!

Update 1.22 - Ice Spells

Hello again, Assassins.
We’ve got some exciting news for you! We’ve just added a new set of spells to the game, themed after the Ice element. Two of those spells are utility spells which open up some more strategic options when you play with a group of people. Here’s a list of all of them and what they do:

Freezing arrow instantly freezes the target hit, immobilizing or killing it if it’s weak enough. Anything that comes into contact with the frozen enemy will instantly shatter them.

An utility spell which blocks axes from going through it, while allowing arrows to pass freely. Beware: the dragons fire or the giant trolls fist is too strong to be blocked by this spell!

An upgrade to the Freezing Arrow, this spell can freeze enemies in an area around its impact point.

Bring back allies from the dead with this utility spell. An arrow so cold it pulls the dead from the limbo, has to hit your fallen comrades head or torso to have an effect.

A devastating weather effect summoned where the arrow carrying it landed will freeze and kill anything that dared an attempt to pass through it.

We hope you’ll have fun using them. Let us know what you think!

Fire Arrow (Updated)

The fire arrow was changed to behave more realistically.
Instead of dealing all damage instantly, it reduces enemy health over time while the orc's body is being burned in flames.

Arcade Version Update - Language support

Elven Assassin Arcade version now supports Korean and Chinese languages.

Then players are divided into groups and play PvP deathmatch game. The best players are qualified to the next rounds until the winners are found.

Bug Fixes:

Fixed Fire Arrow
Improved Troll death - added sounds and particles

Update 1.20 - Torso, Lobby Sorting, Leaderboards for Arcades

Greetings Assassins!

Today we bring you another update. Let’s dive right in:

New looks

To improve immersion, we’ve added hands that hold the virtual controllers you see when browsing through menus. Additionally, to be consistent with Deathmatch, players in Co-op games also have torsos now. Be careful, as axe wounds to the gut are as fatal as those to the head!

Improved cleaning the battlefield

Before the dead orc bodies just blinked which was kind of immersion breaking. Now, the bodies of fallen enemies have a cool fadeout effect, check it out:

Lobby sorting

As per request, rooms available in the lobby are now sorted, both by player count and privacy setting. You’ll now see open rooms before ones that have password protection, and rooms that are full will show up at the end of the list.

Arcade leaderboards

Here’s something for owners of VR parks as well. Arcade leaderboards now display the scores local to your VR location. The one requirement is you need to set up a LocalServer (do not confuse it with private rooms). You can find instructions here: https://elven-assassin.com/commercial-license.html

You can also display the leaderboards on a separate screen in your location.

Bugfixes

(VR Park version) Ensured that different game versions of Arcade clients can’t play together when they use the same park code

Update 1.19 - Private rooms

Greetings Assassins!

This update brings you the long requested feature which allows you to create private rooms. With this, you will no longer have to worry about random people joining your game, allowing your elite squad to shoot orcs in peace.

Whenever you do want to meet new friends just leave the game public as a sign of invitation!

Here’s a quick rundown on how it works:

Personal Version

While creating a room, you get an option to set it private.

If you do, clicking Create will take you to a window which allows you to set a passcode for it. Make one up and share it with your friends.

Other players will see that this room is private, and will be prompted to type in the passcode upon clicking Join. If the passcode is correct, they’ll be allowed to enter. Otherwise, the game doesn’t let them in. Simple as that.

Arcade Version

VR Park owners, on the other hand, can set up a whole private server.
In Arcade Settings, found in the Settings window, you can opt in to use a local server. This option persist between launches, so you only have to configure it once.

  1. Clicking “Setup->Create” generates a code which identifies your server.
  2. To enable your other machines to join this server, select the “Local” option on them as well, and use “Setup->Join” to join the server.
  3. You’ll be prompted to input the server code, which was generated on your first machine.

Here is the diagram which graphically shows how to set this up.

You can even set up multiple servers for your Park, say you have 8 machines with Elven Assassin running and you want to group them into two groups of 4 so that players from one group don’t join players from the other by accident - simply generate two server codes and assign one to first 4 machines, and the other code to the remaining 4.

With that we figured the VR Park version doesn’t need the private room option so that your players can play the game without doing an additional step, but if you think you need private rooms after all, do tell us.

Also, we introduced an option to choose "default region" which shortens multiplayer game creation process in your Arcade, as it does not show the screen with region selection.

Bug Fixes

We have also pushed some bugfixes, most notably:

  1. Fixed rare cases where other players arrows would behave strangely when the other player draws their arrow
  2. Deathmatch: Fixed players sometimes getting teleported back to the platform they just died on shortly after respawning
  3. Fixed Player Titles not distinguishing between players with the same Steam name
  4. When teleporting, players using Rift in the Steam version of the game will now be rotated towards the center of action instead of the general direction they were looking at before teleporting
  5. Fixed camera blinking when changing scenes that players using Rift experienced
