SCUM - Development update & Playsafe Q&A
Hello everyone, happy Monday! Return of the Dev update is here, and a little announcement, so check it out!
Kicking off 2026 with the programmers. They continue their work on the official mod support framework. Before it spreads this means you can expect it soon; it is all still early and in the works. Even we do not have any ETA yet, other than the internal goal of 2026. We are just letting you know what is going on. Other than that, we have even more work on the constant anti-cheat battle. Details of which, for obvious reasons, cannot be shared here. And we have a lot of bugfixing, which you could tell by the number of hotfixes released. That is all for now on them as other details are not ready to be released until we have shareable plans for the roadmap.

As for level design. Their work continues on new terrain, buildings, and so much more.

The art team has been busy as well. Hard surface and soft surface working on stuff which cannot be mentioned yet, for the same reason as in the programmers section.
Animators, however, we can talk about, as they are working on all the animations needed for the trench gun and the SKS rifle that you already saw before.

Sound has been going in after the winter break. They are working on all sounds for the Trench gun and the SKS. They are also working on new sounds for one of the features you asked to be revamped as well.

The design team is doing a lot of prep work for 2026. As mentioned in last year's devblog, 2026 is a focus on fixing the game and finishing the features that are incomplete and missing. It all starts from the research and design documents that the design team is working on right now. Once we have more to share, as in we are set in stone for it, we will reveal it.
Playsafe ID Q&A
Now for something that requires your participation. Andrew Wailes, CEO of Playsafe ID, approached us and wanted to answer any of your questions and/or concerns you may have. So it is time for you, the SCUMmunity, to fire away. Ask all of your questions in the comments below, and in the near future, they will release the answers they have for them!
