New Year's Night and Our Festive Collection

Read on to learn about a new temporary event and the "Christmas and New Year in the Navy" collection.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

New Year's Night
The New Year's Night temporary event awaits you in festive Update 0.10.11. Magic stars brought three snow giants to life, and those snow giants now have the responsibility to prepare the festive celebrations. Each star entrusted its snow giant with an errand in preparation for the celebrations. Help them contribute to the celebration!
Starts: Thu. 23 Dec. 06:00 CET (UTC+1) Ends: Thu. 20 Jan. 06:00 CET (UTC+1)

New Year's Night is similar to the Battle of the Beasts and Aircraft Bureaus Rivalry events that took place in Updates 0.10.4 and 0.10.8, respectively. We have made minor changes to the interface only: The tooltips on the team selection screen and above the mission cards have been updated.
[expand] [/expand]

Rules
The event will run until the release of Update 0.11.0 and is divided into four stages. Each stage lasts 1 week. Before starting each stage, you can choose one of three teams named after the magic stars:
  • Team Modus: The snow giant brought to life by the Modus star has been entrusted with creating a festive mood.
  • Team Sertum: The snow giant brought to life by the Sertum star has been entrusted with decorating the Holiday Tree with fairy lights and toys.
  • Team Munera: The snow giant brought to life by the Munera star has been entrusted with giving New Year gifts.

During the day, event participants will receive special missions that can be completed in Random, Co-op, and Ranked Battles. Completing the missions will advance you through the personal and team progress bars and unlock rewards. Your personal and team progress is reset to zero at the beginning of each new stage.

All players who have reached Access Level 8 can participate in the event.

Missions
Three mission types, with a limited allotted time for each mission, will be available to you each day.

Missions are assigned sequentially once every 40 minutes. You will receive a total of 25 missions during the day. Each mission should be completed within 120 minutes.

After a mission expires, the next mission of the same type becomes available. Battles that end after a mission expires are counted toward the next mission. The only exceptions are the last missions of the day. The time for counting the results of these missions is extended by 20 minutes.
The missions are only available during a certain time period each day. More details are available in the game client.

Personal and team progress
Completing the missions will earn you Points for both personal and team progress. When you reach specific personal and team milestones, you will receive rewards:
  • The reward for reaching each stage of personal progress is credited immediately.
  • The reward for team progress is credited if your personal progress is equal to or higher than the team progress.

During each stage, you can obtain up to 10 rewards—five for personal progress and five for team progress. To obtain all 10 rewards during the week, you need to earn 1,500 Personal Progress Points and 150,000 Team Progress Points.

Earning Points
Each mission has four completion marks. Reaching each mark will earn you 20 Points. In total, you can earn 80 Points in one mission. If you complete missions more efficiently than other players, then after completing the mission, you’ll receive from 10 to 25 additional Points, as well as see your position in the overall player standings.

The results are summed up when each mission expires, and the teams take their places in the overall team standings. A team is awarded 700; 900; or 1,200 Points per mission, based on its position in the team standings. The position in the overall standings, in turn, depends on the activity of the members of each team.

Rewards
Advancing through the personal and team progress bars can earn you themed Commanders; V Omaha, V Conte di Cavour, and V Jaguar, each with the Snow and Stars permanent camouflage; a new temporary resource— Star Tokens, containers with elements of the Christmas and New Year in the Navy collection, as well as the New Year Sky expendable camouflages.

If you choose a new team every week, you can obtain all the unique rewards: ships that come with the Snow and Stars permanent camouflage and Commanders—the snow giants—with specializations for these ships. The ships come with all of their modules researched. The first time you earn a unique reward from any team, you will also receive the New Year's Night achievement.

The unique reward from each team can be obtained several times if you select this team again at the beginning of a new stage and reach a certain mark in terms of personal progress. You can have more than one identical snow giant Commander in your roster simultaneously. As for ships—if you already have V Omaha, V Jaguar, or V Conte di Cavour in your Port, then upon reaching a certain mark on the personal progress bar, you will receive compensation in Credits equal to the cost of the ship with all of her modules researched. Compensation for the Snow and Stars camouflage is 3,000,000 Credits.
Star Tokens
During the event, you can earn a total of up to 600 Tokens: 200 Tokens for team progress and 400 Tokens for personal progress.

You will also be able to purchase special bundles in the Armory. Each of them includes 1x New Year Sky expendable camouflage and 15 Star Tokens. The bundles will be available in exchange for Credits and Doubloons. You can purchase no more than 20 bundles for Credits.

Star Tokens can be exchanged in the Armory for a variety of festive rewards, including New Year Commanders, Credits, and containers of the "Christmas and New Year in the Navy" collection.
The New Year Commanders come with specializations for Tier I ships of their nations.
The bundles with Star Tokens and New Year Sky camouflages, as well as the available rewards for Star Tokens, will be available in the Armory until the end of Update 0.11.0.
The "Christmas and New Year in the Navy" Collection
This festive collection is dedicated to New Year and Christmas traditions in the navies of various countries. It consists of four pages, with six elements on each.
The reward for completing each page is 1 day of Warships Premium Account. The reward for completing the entire collection is a Santa’s Big Gift container.
Collection elements drop only from "Christmas and New Year in the Navy" containers. The exchange rate for duplicates is 4:1.

These containers can be obtained by participating in the New Year's Night event and in exchange for Star Tokens in the Armory. You can receive a total of:
  • Up to 28 containers in the New Year's Night event for reaching team progress marks
  • Up to 40 containers for Star Tokens received in the New Year's Night event
  • Up to 20 containers for Star Tokens obtained from bundles available for Credits in the Armory

In a future update, the "Christmas and New Year in the Navy" containers will be added to the Armory and be available in exchange for Coal. This way, you will be able to complete the entire collection if you do not have enough time to do so during the New Year's Night event and during Update 0.11.0.

Developer Bulletin for Update 0.11.0
IMPORTANT! Because the update is still being tested, the information in this bulletin is tentative and reflects the state of game development at the time of its publication. Some changes and new features may be removed entirely or implemented differently by the time the update goes live. Screenshots, specific values of certain characteristics, and details of in-game mechanics will not necessarily be relevant after the update is released.
Please note: The rewards for activities on the Public Test Server may differ from those on the Live Server.

Pan-Asian Cruisers: Part 1
Update 0.11.0 brings Pan-Asian Tier V–X cruisers to Early Access. The ships of the new branch are notable for their small-caliber guns, high rates of fire, and powerful deepwater torpedoes, but they also have rather low survivability.

All researchable Pan-Asian cruisers are equipped with a variant of the Smoke Generator consumable with a reduced cooldown time, and starting from Tier VI, they have Defensive AA Fire. The new Tier VII–X ships are equipped with the Torpedo Reload Booster consumable; and starting from Tier IX—with the Repair Party consumable.

[expand] [/expand]
Early Access
Complete the event's combat missions to gain Early Access to V Chungking and VII Chumphon, as well as a new temporary resource—Pan-Asian Tokens.

You can exchange Pan-Asian Tokens for various items in the Armory, including sequentially available bundles with VI Rahmat and VIII Harbin, as well as the Silk Dawn permanent camouflages for researchable Pan-Asian Tier VII–X cruisers, plus other rewards.

The number of Tokens you can earn by completing combat missions is enough to obtain VI Rahmat and the permanent camouflage for VII Chumphon. You can purchase X Jinan in exchange for Doubloons after obtaining all the sequential bundles. IX Sejong will be available in random bundles for Doubloons.

The Dragon Port has been updated to celebrate the arrival of the Pan-Asian cruisers in Early Access.

[expand] [/expand]
The Pan-Asian cruisers can't be obtained on the Public Test Server.
Rental Superships in Random Battles in 0.11.0
As we've already mentioned, superships with special mechanics have the potential to become a full-fledged part of World of Warships, given the interest shown in them. In the future, we want to continue the existing branches with superships. In addition to the logic of this continuation of the branches, we also believe that due to the superiority of superships in terms of their performance characteristics over their "predecessors," they do not fit into Tier X.

This is a big and important step for our game. Based on our previous experience, we planned to test them thoroughly. We're carefully monitoring both the data we receive and your feedback. The current Ranked Season has shown that superships fit into the current game concept and have been warmly received by players.

Therefore, starting from Update 0.11.0, the testing of superships will continue not only in Ranked and Co-op Battles but also in Random Battles—the most popular battle type in the game. This will allow us to better assess the current state of superships and continue to refine the content that is important for the game development.

In addition, Random Battles have a different format from that of Ranked Battles—12 vs. 12. It's important to test superships in this battle type because this significantly changes the battle tempo and density, which means that the effectiveness of superships may change.

[expand] [/expand]
In Update 0.11.0, rental superships will be available from random bundles in the Armory. Only Tier IX and X ships will be able to participate in battles with superships, and the standard restrictions on the number of ships of certain types and tiers apply in battle.

Asymmetric Battles
The update sees the return of Asymmetric Battles—a temporary battle type with a different distribution of ships and tiers between teams.

We've changed the tiers of ships you can helm into battle.
First team
• Tiers: IX and X
  • Number of ships: 6–8
Second team
• Tiers: VII and VIII
  • Number of ships: 9–12

If there aren't enough players in the matchmaking queue, bots may be added to teams.

To participate playing a Tier IX–X ship, a new temporary resource—Battle Tokens—is required. You can earn these Tokens for completing combat missions by participating in Asymmetric Battles playing Tier VII–VIII ships.

Submarine Tweaks
We've updated the sonar ping and torpedo mechanics. A submarine can now simultaneously maintain sonar pings on several enemy ships.
  • Sonar pings that hit a ship are now either active or inactive.
  • After you launch torpedoes, they home in on an active ping hit sector and continue to home in on the sector if it becomes inactive. At the same time, torpedoes you release cannot be redirected to another target.
  • Only the last sonar ping that hits an enemy ship is considered to be active.
  • If a ship has an active ping hit sector and torpedoes are homing in on the sector, it will become inactive when the ping hits another ship.
  • If a ship has an active ping hit sector and torpedoes are not homing in on the sector, it will disappear when the ping hits another ship.

These changes will prevent submarines from changing the target their torpedoes are homing in on, but they will also give them the ability to efficiently counter multiple opponents at once.
Detectability Changes
• Submarines at the operating depth can now detect ships in smoke from the assured acquisition range.
  • Ships in smoke can now detect submarines at the operating depth from the assured acquisition range.
  • Fixed a bug that caused submarines to be affected by a 20-second detectability penalty after using a sonar ping.
  • Fixed a bug that caused ships' detectability to increase for submarines after firing main battery guns while in smoke.
We have also made a number of balance changes to submarines and anti-submarine weapons. The full details are available on our Development Blog.

Recent Issues Update

Captains!

Recently, two bugs have been found on the main server:
  • some ship modules have become indestructible;
  • HP is incorrectly distributed to different parts of the ship when the Survivability Expert skill is active.
The fix for the issue will be deployed Fri. 17 Dec. 06:00 CET (UTC+1)

    Expected downtime: ~1 hour.
Please be aware that because of this, cross-server Clan Battles will not be available on the days the patch is being applied.

Instead of reverting the mechanics, the fix will adjust how getting additional HP works in general (this covers such cases as Survivability Expert or, for example, HP buffs in Arms Race). Additional HP will be distributed among different parts of the ship proportionally instead of being put into the hull. As an example of what effect it might have, a destroyer with about 2,000–2,500 HP in the bow section and roughly 20,000 total HP, the increase of HP in the bow would be about 400 HP, which will not lead to a significant gameplay change. We understand that it won't be a full revert to how it was before, but we were planning to change this mechanic as it will help to improve the technical state of the game and keep the mechanics consistent.

As for the bug with indestructible modules — regrettably, the fix will only be deployed with the release of 0.11.0 due to the noticeable technical risk caused by applying it without sufficient testing, since it concerns the game's crucial damage dealing logic. We will also adjust the combat missions in the Dockyard which require destroying modules.

We apologize for this situation and would like to offer you a token of gratitude in the form of 3 WG containers — each dropping a day of Premium account — in each one which you will be able to claim by pressing the button below until the end of the year.

  • For any common mission, your progress starts to be considered only after you have joined the event.
  • For any competitive mission, your progress is accounted for the entire time that this mission is active, but you need to join the event while this mission is active.
  • All the missions can be completed in Random, Co-op, and Ranked Battles. Exception: Only Random Battles are considered for mission no.11.
  • Each ornament contains three gifts: A guaranteed gift, a random giveaway prize, and a competitive gift.
