The "Soviet Aircraft Carriers" and "Aircraft Bureaus Rivalry" Events

Early Access to the new ship branch, plus a new temporary event!
Soviet Aircraft Carriers
Soviet aircraft carriers IV Komsomolets, VI Serov, and VIII Pobeda arrive in Early Access.
What are the features of the new branch?
• Small number of aircraft in squadrons. Squadrons consist of a single flight that carries out one powerful attack with all aircraft at once.
  • Starting from Tier VIII, aircraft are equipped with jet boosters. As with VI Ise and VIII Tone, the boosters kick in automatically during takeoff and provide a short-term increase in speed. You can jettison the boosters by pressing the S key.
  • Small HP pools and low cruising speeds.
  • Soviet aircraft carriers carry skip bombers instead of standard bombers. The skip bombers are armed with HE bombs.
  • The torpedo bombers are armed with torpedoes that have a long range and take longer to arm.
  • Starting from Tier VI, attack aircraft squadrons are armed with powerful HE rockets that are similar to the American "Tiny Tims."

[expand] [/expand]
When Update 0.10.10 goes live, IV Komsomolets, VI Serov, VIII Pobeda, and X Admiral Nakhimov will be available for all players to research.
Things to Know About Early Access

Soviet Tokens
Soviet Tokens are a new temporary resource that can be obtained:
  • By participating in the Aircraft Bureaus Rivalry event—up to 1,500 Tokens.
  • From free random bundles—up to 100 Tokens.
  • From random bundles that are available in exchange for Doubloons—up to 2,600 Tokens.
  • In exchange for Community Tokens in the Armory—up to 200 Tokens.
Rewards for Soviet Tokens
You can exchange Soviet Tokens for sequentially available bundles that include Soviet aircraft carriers IV Komsomolets, VI Serov, and VIII Pobeda along with the Forward Bound permanent camouflages for these ships, as well as for other rewards in the Armory.
IV Komsomolets, VI Serov, and permanent camouflages for Tier IV, VI, and VIII carriers can be obtained for free. The sum of Tokens that can be earned in the Aircraft Bureaus Rivalry event and received from free daily bundles will be sufficient to achieve that.

With the release of Update 0.10.10, Soviet Tokens will be converted into Credits at the rate of 1:6,000.
Sequentially Available Bundles

Other Rewards

Random Bundles
The Armory is offering free random bundles—Regular Supplies. Within them, you'll find Soviet Tokens, 1 day of Warships Premium Account, Doubloons, and other rewards.

The bundles will remain available until the end of Update 0.10.8.
You can obtain only one bundle per day. A total of 12 bundles will be available, so you can skip more than 2 weeks and still be able to collect all the rewards.
Random bundles for Doubloons
Random bundles that can each be obtained for 1,000 Doubloons have been added to the Soviet Aircraft Carriers section of the Armory. They can drop the Forward Bound permanent camouflage for X Admiral Nakhimov; Soviet Tokens; special signals; and expendable camouflages such as Victory, Spring Sky, Mosaic, and Asian Lantern.
Aircraft Bureaus Rivalry
A new temporary event awaits you in Update 0.10.8—Aircraft Bureaus Rivalry. It's based on the history of Soviet naval aviation development and various research and development bureaus that worked on machines for the Soviet Navy.
Starts: Thu. 09 Sep. 09:30 CEST (UTC+2) Ends: Thu. 07 Oct. 03:30 CEST (UTC+2)

Aircraft Bureaus Rivalry is similar to the Battle of the Beasts event that took place in Update 0.10.4 but with small changes. The event has three teams instead of four, and a special pop-up window will remind you about the start of each new stage. The Port now displays your personal progress to the next reward instead of team progress. We've also updated the interface of the team selection screen and the window that displays personal and team progress.

A window displaying the event description and unique rewards for each team has been added to the team selection screen. It also shows which team you have selected for the previous stages and if you have unique team rewards. Unique rewards—team patches—are awarded for your personal progress, not for team progress. You can earn unique rewards even if your team hasn't reached the necessary progress milestone. If you haven't made any progress on specific missions, they will not be displayed on the mission screen.

[expand] [/expand]
Rules of the Event
The event runs until the release of Update 0.10.9 and is divided into four stages. Each stage lasts 1 week. Before starting each stage, you can choose one of three teams:
The Polikarpov Bureau Team
[expand]
Nikolai Polikarpov was known as the "King of Fighters" because Soviet aces flew only his machines until the beginning of the 1940s. Moreover, the Polikarpov Experimental Design Bureau created the first attack aircraft for the Red Army Air Force.
[/expand]
The Chetverikov Bureau Team
[expand]
Igor Chetverikov developed a successful series of long-range naval scouts. It was his Experimental Design Bureau that was tasked with creating a carrier-based torpedo bomber for the Soviet Navy Air Force, and the task was successfully completed.
[/expand]
The Kocherigin Bureau Team
[expand]
Sergey Kocherigin worked on a number of original fighters and scouts, but he achieved his greatest successes designing bombers.
[/expand]
During the day, event participants will receive special missions that can be completed in Random, Co-op, and Ranked Battles, as well as in the new temporary battle type—Convoy. Convoy will become available 2 weeks after the release of the update.

Completing missions will advance you through personal and team progress bars and unlock rewards. Your personal and team progress is reset to zero at the beginning of each new stage. All players who have reached Access Level 8 can participate in the event.
Missions
Three mission types, with a limited allotted time for each mission, will be available to you each day. Missions are assigned sequentially at specific times throughout the day—once every 40 minutes. There are 25 missions in total. Each mission should be completed within 120 minutes. The only exceptions are the last missions of the day—the time for counting the results of these missions is extended by 20 minutes.

After a mission expires, the next mission of the same type becomes available. Battles that end after a mission expires are counted towards the next mission. More details are available in the game client.
Personal and Team Progress
Completing the missions will earn you Points for both personal and team progress. When you reach certain personal and team milestones, you'll receive rewards:
  • The reward for reaching each stage of personal progress is credited immediately.
  • The reward for team progress is credited if your personal progress is equal to or higher than the team progress.

During the week, you can obtain up to 10 rewards: five for personal progress and five for team progress. To obtain all 10 rewards during the week, you need to earn 1,500 Personal Progress Points and 150,000 Team Progress Points.
Earning Points
Each mission has four completion marks. Reaching each mark will earn you 20 Points. A total of 80 Points can be earned per mission. If you complete a mission with high efficiency, you’ll receive from 10 to 25 additional Points, as well as see your position in the overall player standings.

The results are summed up when each mission expires, and the teams take their places in the overall team standings. A team is awarded 700; 900; or 1,200 Points per mission, based on its position in the team standings. The position in the overall standings, in turn, depends on the activity of the members of each team.

[expand] [/expand]
Rewards
Containers of the "6 Years of World of Warships" collection, Victory camouflages, Coal, Soviet Tokens, and themed patches with the team insignias.

You can collect all the patches by selecting a new team each week.
If you already have a team patch, then when you select the same team again and reach the necessary personal progress milestone, you'll receive compensation of 15,000 Credits instead of the patch.

World of Warships Anniversary

Festive Rewards
In Update 0.10.8, you can earn festive battle performance bonuses on all of your Tier V and higher ships. Win a battle or earn 300 Base XP to receive Supercontainers, a new temporary resource called Festive Tokens, and Gift containers:
Battle Performance Bonuses will be available
from: Fri. 17 Sep. 14:00 CEST (UTC+2) to: Thu. 04 Nov. 14:00 CEST (UTC+2)

The bonus for each ship can be earned only once in battles of any type, except for Training Battles.

In a special section of the Armory, Festive Tokens can be exchanged for containers of the "6 Years of World of Warships" collection; "6 Years of World of Warships" permanent camouflages for VII Lyon, VII Yorck, VII Shchors, VII Gadjah Mada, VII Akatsuki, and VII Zara; Gift and Distant Voyages containers; and World of Warships Anniversary expendable camouflages. The rewards section will be available from September 17, before Update 0.10.10 is released.

Each Gift container holds 5x special signals of the same type (Dragon, Red Dragon, Wyvern, Ouroboros, Hydra, Basilisk, Scylla, or Leviathan).

You can only earn Festive Tokens from battle performance bonuses. With the release of Update 0.10.10, Festive Tokens will be converted into Credits at the rate of 1:90,000.
The "6 Years of World of Warships" Collection
[expand] [/expand]
We're also celebrating our Anniversary with the "6 Years of World of Warships" collection, which is dedicated to the most notable events that happened in the game over the past year. The collection looks like a big jigsaw puzzle with 60 elements in it. The collection elements only drop from "6 years of World of Warships" special containers. You can obtain these:
  • By completing a special combat mission chain that will become available on September 17.
  • By participating in the new temporary Aircraft Bureaus Rivalry event.
  • In exchange for Festive Tokens.
The reward for completing the collection is a Supercontainer, 6x Gift containers, and the "6 Years of World of Warships" commemorative flag.
The exchange rate for duplicates is 1:1.

The "6 Years of World of Warships" containers will be added to the Armory in one of the future updates. When that happens, you'll be able to obtain them in exchange for Coal.

To celebrate the Anniversary, the Designer's Table Port has also been updated—the ship model is now located in a bright and spacious room.

[expand] [/expand]
We've also added some hidden festive achievements. Their requirements won't be announced or shown in the game client. If you achieve good results and have luck on your side, you'll earn them. Good luck!
Resetting Stars in Operations
With the release of update 0.10.8, any Stars earned in Operations will be reset. This means that the players who already received reward in Operation for a certain number of stars, can collect these stars again and receive corresponding rewards.
Dutch Cruisers
When Update 0.10.8 goes live, Dutch Tier I–X cruisers will become available for all players to research.
Soviet Aircraft Carriers
Update 0.10.8 brings Soviet aircraft carriers IV Komsomolets, VI Serov, and VIII Pobeda to Early Access.

[expand] [/expand]
Features of the Branch
• Small number of aircraft in squadrons. Squadrons consist of a single flight that carries out one powerful attack with all aircraft at once.
  • Starting from Tier VIII, aircraft are equipped with jet boosters. As with VI Ise and VIII Tone, the boosters kick in automatically during take-off and provide a short-term increase in speed.
  • Small HP pools and low cruising speeds.
  • Instead of standard bombers, Soviet aircraft carriers carry skip bombers armed with HE bombs.
  • The torpedo bombers are armed with torpedoes that have a long range and take longer to arm.
  • Starting from Tier VI, attack aircraft squadrons are armed with HE rockets similar to the American "Tiny Tim" rockets.
Early Access
Soviet Tokens are a new temporary resource that can be obtained:
  • By participating in the Aircraft Bureaus Rivalry event.
  • From free daily bundles.
  • From random bundles available for Doubloons.
  • In exchange for Community Tokens in the Armory.
Rewards for Soviet Tokens: sequentially available bundles with ships IV Komsomolets, VI Serov, and VIII Pobeda along with Forward Bound permanent camouflages for them, as well as other rewards. Komsomolets, Serov, and permanent camouflages for the Tier IV, VI, and VIII carriers can be obtained for free. The sum of Tokens you can earn in the Aircraft Bureaus Rivalry event and receive from free daily bundles will be sufficient for that.
Rewards from random bundles available for Doubloons: Forward Bound permanent camouflage for X Admiral Nakhimov, Soviet Tokens, Victory expendable camouflages, and other items.

When Update 0.10.10 goes live, IV Komsomolets, VI Serov, VIII Pobeda, and X Admiral Nakhimov will be available for all players to research. Soviet Tokens will be converted into Credits at the rate of 1:6,000.
Aircraft Bureaus Rivalry
In Update 0.10.8, a new temporary event awaits you—Aircraft Bureaus Rivalry. It's based on the history of the development of Soviet naval aviation and the various research and development bureaus that worked on machines for the Soviet Navy.
Starts: Thu. 09 Sep. 09:30 CEST (UTC+2) Ends: Thu. 07 Oct. 03:30 CEST (UTC+2)

The Aircraft Bureaus Rivalry event is similar to the Battle of the Beasts event from Update 0.10.4, but it has a few differences.
The main differences in comparison to the Battle of the Beasts are as follows
• Three teams instead of four.
  • Unique rewards—team patches—will be awarded for personal progress, not for team progress. This means that you'll still be able to earn unique rewards if your team doesn't progress enough.
  • Updated team selection window interface, as well as personal and team progress window.
  • In the Port, personal progress till the next reward in now displayed instead of the team progress.
Rules of the Event
• The event runs until the release of Update 0.10.9 and is divided into four stages. Each stage lasts 1 week.
  • Once per week, you can select one of the three teams: Polikarpov Bureau Team, Chyetverikov Bureau Team, or Kocherygin Bureau Team.
  • During the event, you need to complete personal missions that are issued daily to all event participants. They can be completed during the day in Random, Co-op, and Ranked Battles, as well as in the new temporary battle type—Convoy.
  • Completing missions will advance you through personal and team progress bars and unlock rewards.
  • Rewards: "6 Years of World of Warships" containers, themed patches, Victory camouflages, Coal, and Soviet Tokens.

You can read more about the Aircraft Bureaus Rivalry event in a dedicated article.

[expand] [/expand]
Convoy
Update 0.10.8 brings players an opportunity to participate in a new temporary battle type—Convoy—which focuses on escorting (or sinking) transport ships. Historically, defending or disrupting cargo routes has been one of the key tasks of fleets: a timely supply of military equipment, ammunition, and provisions has always played a tremendous role in the success of combat actions.
Rules
• The defending team is tasked with escorting a convoy of four bot ships as they sail along a defined route. The defending team wins if at least one of the convoy ships reaches the destination point or the entire attacking team is destroyed.
  • The mission of the attacking team is to completely destroy either the convoy or its defenders.
  • Players are randomly distributed among the two teams. You can either play solo or as a member of the Division.
  • On average, it takes the convoy between 10 and 12 minutes to complete the route.
  • Format: 7 vs. 7, playing Tier VIII ships Restrictions: No more than one aircraft carrier and three battleships per team
  • Battles will take place on the following maps: The Atlantic, Islands of Ice, Warrior's Path, Loop, and Labyrinth.

[expand] [/expand] Starts: Thu. 23 Sep. 07:00 CEST (UTC+2) Ends: Thu. 07 Oct. 07:00 CEST (UTC+2)

During this time, you'll be able to complete special combat missions only for this battle type, and they'll bring you Community Tokens. Detailed information about the mission completion criteria can be found in the game client.
Armory
VIII Chkalov will become available when the update is released. She's based on the project of a large aircraft carrier armed with dual-purpose artillery, and she was named after the Soviet test pilot who made the first non-stop flight over the North Pole. Just like the researchable Soviet aircraft carriers, Chkalov's squadrons consist of a single flight that carries out one powerful attack with all aircraft at once. She carries squadrons of skip bombers and torpedo bombers, but instead of attack aircraft she has regular bombers. Chkalov has powerful AA defenses and good concealment, and all of her squadrons are equipped with jet boosters. Chkalov will be available for  12,300 Doubloons.

Changed the rewards under the "Naval Community" tab:
  • Removed the bundle with III Katori. However, this ship is still available to purchase in the Armory for 2,550 Doubloons.
  • Added four bundles with combat and economic signals, available for  600 Community Tokens each.
  • Added a Supercontainer for  2,000 Community Tokens. It can be purchased only once.
With the release of Update 0.10.9, Premium Ship V and Premium Ship VII containers, as well as the Restless Fire commemorative flag, will no longer be available in exchange for Community Tokens. They'll be replaced by new rewards. The full details will be announced when the release of Update 0.10.9 is near.
With the release of Update 0.10.8, Summer Tokens will be converted into Credits at the rate of 1:
Other Changes and Improvements

Game balance changes
We've made some changes to the parameters of several ships based on our analysis of their battle efficiency and player feedback. This applies to submarines and anti-submarine weapons in particular. These changes were required in order to carefully adjust the balance of selected warships. Further changes may follow in future updates, should they be required.
Other Changes and Improvements
• Fixed an error that caused torpedoes to deviate from the selected trajectory if the ship was circulating during their launch.

  • Fixed an error that prevented rockets from dealing damage to parts of ships that were entirely destroyed.
  • Fixed an error that sometimes made it impossible to set a course for autopilot after colliding with an island.
  • Fixed an error that caused the ships to get stuck near one of the islands after appearing on the "Neighbors" map.
  • Fixed an error that caused the Depth Charge Airstrike armament to disappear from IX Wujing and VIII Pyotr Bagration.
  • Fixed an error that cased the number of depth charges on VII Atlanta B not to match that on VII Atlanta.
  • Fixed an error that caused VIII Cleveland in her standard hull not to receive critical damage to her steering gears.
  • Fixed the maximum range of Airstrike on VII Eendracht being 10 km instead of 11 km.
  • Fixed the incorrect rocket travel time of VIII Kaga and VIII Kaga B attack aircraft.
  • Maximum frame rate can now be set in preferences.xml. Setting it in engine_config.xml after each update is no longer necessary.
  • Due a technical error, we've temporarily disabled the possibility to switch the camera to torpedo tubes on all submarines when clicking the preview icon in the parameters.
  • Fixed an error that caused IX Z-44 to have a slightly higher chance of fire on the ship.
  • Other Improvements and Changes. For a complete list, please refer to Player Support.

World of Warships' Team Shout-Out to Game Community

Dear players,

Lately a lot of you have been upset with various incidents, our decisions, as well as a general state of things in the game and community. Before we continue, we want to apologize to all of you, players, content creators, moderators, testers, and other volunteers, to those who support us and those disappointed with us. Everything that happens within the game and the community is our responsibility, and we are sorry that we let the situation come to its current state.

We want to take this opportunity to be more transparent about how we will take actions to improve our internal processes and our relationship with you. It will be a long read, you will see items of different scales and with different times required to see results. No doubt more news and announcements will follow, so please don't treat this as a final plan and the ultimate solution to everything. Instead, please treat it as a list of things we're currently working on and a way to show our intentions to make the game and community a better place. Also, please note that it is not comprehensive, as many other measures are revolving around internal processes.
Monetization
World of Warships is a free-to-play title following the game-as-a-service concept with substantial monthly updates and a constant evolutionary cycle. To support this model we rely on a multitude of monetization tactics considered to be standard practice in the industry. While we believe it's unreasonable to expect to discuss our monetization strategies in all but the most general terms — this is business-critical information — we do understand that there are specific details that are a cause of concern for some of you. We will address them as best we can below.
  • Random mechanics. As a business, we always follow laws and comply with new regulations as they appear. Therefore, our position on containers and random bundles is always consistent with governments' decisions on this matter and will keep being so. In some cases, we will even try to work ahead of industry practices. We are aware that there are slowly progressing trends to regulate the digital space more and more, to catch up with technical solutions and business models built on them. With that in mind, we appreciate your feedback and commit to the following: from now on for all new ships, if they are distributed via Containers or Random Bundles, there will be an alternative way to obtain them. Methods may vary and may include timegating (i.e. early access or time delayed offers), direct purchases, completing in-game activities, etc.
  • Drop rates. We plan to publish all drop rates for all Containers and Random Bundles, and are already working on it. It will take some time, but our hard commitment is that it will happen over the course of next year.
  • Return of Missouri. The initial concept of the event was perceived negatively, and we should have known better. The case was a learned lesson for us and we added an alternative way to purchase the ship. We're also addressing the situation with the ship's earnings to make sure that those who owned Missouri before 0.10.7 will on average receive not less credits than before the changes to the ship's economics. We're grateful for the battles you played, these helped us to collect sufficient data. This amount of data allows us to add a +10% bonus to the special Missouri combat mission (from 20% to 30%). Additionally, we will issue appropriate amount of credits to all the affected players as a sign of appreciation; details will be published in Devblog separately.
  • Summer Sale. Unfortunately, we made a translation mistake in a sensitive description. We fixed it ASAP and to protect you from such mistakes in the future, we will add additional checks and approvals to our internal processes. If anything like that happens again, we will offer refunds to all of the affected players. We did it before and we will do it again to make sure that you are compensated. We will also pay more attention to the positioning of such events: for example, many of you stated the term "Sale" suggests direct discounts on in-game items.
  • Age ratings. We've already added disclaimers about in-game purchases with random items to our PEGI ratings. We're also in touch with other rating organizations to adjust our ratings everywhere in a consistent way. While our game was never popular among minors and we adhere to legislation in all countries where we publish World of Warships, we plan to go beyond what is required of us by laws and we are working on our own in-game measures to additionally protect children who interact with our game. We will share more details on this point once we're ready to announce them.
Feedback
One of the main topics we want to address is how your feedback influences the game. Regrettably, it was not always clear how we use certain types of feedback and where it fits into our decision-making process. We've always taken it into account, but looking back, we see that in some cases it was not balanced well enough against other equally important sources of information: large volumes of data and the team's creative vision of the game. We want to change this situation and make sure we pay more direct attention to your suggestions and opinions while also giving you more insight into how the decisions are made. Things we are considering and evaluating right now:
  • More reaction to feedback on ships balance. We know there are several ships you want to be addressed, and we'd like to confirm: balance changes are planned for Zao, Petropavlovsk, and FDR in 0.10.10. Moving forward we will try to increase the promptness of addressing released ships in a similar way and when it is not possible (for example, changing a ship will move it out of the interval of normal performance), we will put more effort into giving you insights and explaining our reasoning.
  • Aircraft Carriers. Despite many other things happening in the game, we haven't forgotten that there are still questions to be answered regarding CVs. We've implemented a lot of changes to this class since the rework, but we acknowledge more changes may be needed. CV spotting is a good example — we conducted several tests before and did not find a good, adequate way to address it. That does not mean we will not continue to improve it. It's not something that can be done quickly, please keep that in mind. Another common question is regarding odd-tier carriers, which were previously mentioned as "support CVs". Right now they are in an early prototyping stage (developing document concepts), and we want to honestly tell you that they are not to be expected in 2022.
  • New gameplay experiences. We will keep evolving the game by introducing new game modes and mechanics, both fiction- and history-based. For example, in 0.10.8 we will have a new mode — Convoys — inspired by historical events. We will keep exploring new game modes in the future, — it's one of our priorities. Expanding permanent types of battles (primarily Random battles) with new modes is also one of the long-term goals to keep the game fresh and entertaining. However creating a mode suitable not just for a short gaming period, but for a permanent presence with high replayability is a much bigger challenge, so it takes many more tries and effort.
  • Maps. We've slowed down with adding new maps to the game recently because the team focused more on the game's visuals in general (updated visual effects, new water, and other improvements) as well as introducing a whole new level of underwater world. That said, in 2022 at least one new map will be released, and another one has some chances to make it in time. Spoiler: we're also going to try a new mechanic with the first of these new maps not previously used in the game.
  • Operations. CV rework rendered a lot of AI-related internal tools obsolete and made working with AI-aircraft-related stuff very difficult or impossible. Right now we're in the process of removing this obstacle. It's being worked on for many reasons, not just for the sake of Operations, but one of the benefits we will have when this project is done is that we will be able to return some of the old Operations in 2022.
  • Other. There are plenty of other things we know you're interested in, and quite a lot of them are being worked on in different stages of development. We haven't forgotten about things such as secondary builds for cruisers, the update of some old ship models, Tier IV CV tuning, Huron (coming 2022), West Virginia'44 (coming 2023), addressing the chat system, improvements for Ranked Battles, and many other small and not so small changes to the game that will make your experience with it better.
Communications
We are a large, distributed team of over 500 people working across more than 4 countries. Coming from all walks of life, culturally varied and hindered severely by the pandemic from travelling to see each other in person to be able to align on certain matters, we are bound to have organizational challenges in the realm of communication. However, these internal challenges should not be visible, much less influence the player experience. Improving communications is a never-ending process which needs to be evolutionary and not revolutionary, so you will see those improvements incrementally over time in many areas, rather than as a one-time institutional overnight change. But we want to address a few specific points you pointed out in this area.
  • Community Contributor Program. When we created our CCTP, our goal was to help talented folks interested in our game create content and grow their channels. Right now it's clear that a lot of things in the Program do not work as they should, which leads to frustration and failed expectations even though some other parts are running well. We will update the Program, both in terms of rules and the way we work with it internally. We expect to have some sort of internal plan and first action points ready in the second half of September, and then proceed with the changes during this Autumn.
  • Future of the game. We'd like to offer you a deeper look into the future of the game. Right now we have Devblogs (where we basically announce everything that comes to Supertest) and the Waterline series (quarterly updates). To complement these and expand the horizon of events, we want to share a general roadmap with you, of what you can expect to see in World of Warships in the far future. It will give you an idea of what we want to focus on — but please keep in mind that things can and will change. At the same time, we want to show the progress World of Warships achieves. The game evolves a lot each year and it will make it easier for you to follow what we are doing.
  • Communications quality. There have been a lot of communication mistakes and incidents on our side recently. While mistakes always happen and we're all human, we acknowledge that we need to improve in this area. We've already launched a full internal review of all related processes. We want fewer mistakes and translation errors, more answers, and productive conversations. We want to improve the way you interact with us in any place, be it Forums, Customer support, Discord servers or official streams.
  • General transparency. We need to work hard on it: on the one hand, we need to pay more attention to the community sentiment, on the other hand, we have to be more transparent and explain our positions. We will create a series of publications to make our development process more transparent and to show the logic behind what we do. For example, players did not understand why the latest torpedo bug took 2 updates to fix, while a CV bug (plane losses in 0.9.9) was fixed almost instantly. They are in fact very different: the CV bug was fixed by quickly adjusting some parameters, while the torpedo bug involved game logic, and even though it was technically fixed within a week, it had to go through all regular quality assurance processes. Deploying such change through a hotfix is extremely risky for the game. This should have been communicated transparently and we will do our best to do so in the future.
  • In-depth communications and insights. When it's necessary we will use more specifics and will provide deeper explanations of our decisions. For example, we implemented the system for CvC ship bans, which helps us to keep the meta fresh, and we want to tell you more about how and why we use it, as it's something that our hardcore players are interested in.

All of it is just our current, first plan. We will keep looking for other points of interest and challenges. We want to show you our responsibility, care and desire for the game by the way we communicate and through our actions — to make the game better for everyone.

A final word on passion and communication. While we are working hard to improve the way we communicate and interact with you, we want to take a moment to address your passion and the way that we communicate with each other. We know that you care about the game a great deal and ask you to remember that there are people — community managers, support staff, developers and volunteers — that read your communications and posts, wherever they may be made. While we as a company certainly need to work on the way we communicate with you, we ask that you treat the people you interact with fairly and with respect. Your voice will carry as much — or more — weight with them if you present your feedback and opinions in a reasoned and constructive way.

Yours sincerely,

Victor Bardovsky, Publishing Director
