Helldivers 2 dev springs into action over its growing list of performance issues

It feels like Helldivers 2 is defined by its rollercoaster relationship with its community at this point. How many times have we seen the game hit stratospheric heights with amazing updates and incredible moments of emergent storytelling, only for a miscommunication or an ill-received balance change to result in sour sentiment and review bombing? Recently, performance issues have been irking players, with Arrowhead remaining fairly tight-lipped and more focused on pushing out new Warbonds and content updates. However, it's now apologized to fans, saying it's heard the feedback on Helldivers 2's growing list of performance gremlins, and is springing into action to fix them.

State of the Game Update #1

[p]Greetings Helldivers,[/p][p][/p][p]We know many of you have been experiencing issues including performance drops, stability hiccups, freezes, and the annoying audio bugs. [/p][p][/p][p]We’ve seen the feedback across Discord, forums, Reddit and our dashboards. You’ve been loud, clear, and absolutely right to expect better. We also recognise that our recent updates haven’t hit the mark, and our silence hasn’t helped. That’s on us. We read all of it and we are hard at work creating a roadmap to address this.[/p][p][/p][p]Starting with the good news: there is an incoming update (mid October-ish) where we’ll start chipping away at:
[/p]
  • [p]Some key crash fixes[/p]
  • [p]Fixed the Primary weapon/Side-arm audio that stops during a mission[/p]
  • [p]Minor performance improvements[/p]
  • [p]Long overdue bug fixes, like Charger footstep sounds (pretty useful) or weapon audio stopping mid mission[/p]
  • [p]No more landing on caves[/p]
  • [p]A Balance Pass (we’re unleashing Niklas & Lennart)
    [/p]
[p]For some of the bigger performances pieces unfortunately we can’t wave a ‘short-turnaround-magic-wand’, nor would a 60 day patch fix them fully (rather it would be duct tape where we need to solder); so we’re working on a bigger development plan as to how we can address some of the larger concerns. Short term, we think the above will make a noticeable improvement and beyond that we’ll keep working on the top issues you keep raising. [/p][p][/p][p]In the future, we’re planning more transparency and more talk! We’re looking to share more about the processes, performance and how we got here, plus further improvements and evolution. For starters expect another post next week to kick that off. [/p][p][/p][p]Between the Xbox launch, the Halo: ODST Legendary Warbond, the free Into the Unjust update, and other surprises, we’ve welcomed a ton of new players, brought back veterans, and delivered a lot of content. Now, it’s time to double down on fixes, polish, and better communication.[/p][p][/p][p]TL;DR[/p][p]We hear you, we want things to be in a better state, we are taking it very seriously, we will continue working and sharing.
[/p][p]Thanks for sticking with us! [/p][p]For Super Earth![/p][p][/p][p]The Arrowhead Dev Team[/p][p]

Helldivers 2 devs Arrowhead pull new Rupture Strain bugs offline for five weeks to fix their, er, bugs

Helldivers 2 developers Arrowhead have opted to pull a recently deployed variant of the shooter's Terminid bugs offline for five weeks, in order to fix issues with them. Yep, for now you can dive onto planets like Oshaune and explore some Into the Unjust update caves without having to worry about burrowing bugs jumping out to mercilessly kick your bottom.

Rupture Warriors have been the main source of Rupture Strain ire since their arrival at the start of this month, as their ability to pop out of the Earth and instantly murder unsuspecting troops has proven tough to counter. At first, those hosting sessions were most at risk of dying like this, but Arrowhead's attempt to rectify the issue in Tuesday's patch seemingly put everyone in each party in an equal amount of danger, though some players did dispute this was the case.
