HELLDIVERS™ 2 News

Helldivers 2's intro just got a new behind the scenes look, and yes, there's a goofy close up of the guy screaming as his family gets murdered

Ok, so, you know that bit in Helldivers 2's now iconic intro cinematic where one minute, everything's fine, and the next some poor man's screaming because a Terminid is killing his family right in from of him? Well, thanks to a new behind-the-scenes video from the company that made the sequence, you can now enjoy a hilarious ultra close up of the mo-cap for that scene.

Yes, it's a weekday and we're casually reccomending that you take time out of your day, minutes of your life that you'll never get back, to watch a man scream into a camera while dressed in the slightly silly clothing that a lot of modern games, films, and shows require. Look, it's a bit funny, ok? I promise.

To see this bit of screaming, you'll need to check out a new behind-the-scenes video that Goodbye Kansas Studios, the Swedish VFX studio that worked on the game's intro alongside Arrowhead, has just put out. It's not too long, but offers some interesting glimpses at the motion capture and modelling that went into bringing the intro to life in a fashion that's not just people in funny suits running around with gun props.

Saber Interactive:

Don’t worry, your precious Helldivers 2 platinum trophy is now achievable again after all - probably

Hold on to your Space Earth military helmet, Helldivers 2's automatons have just returned, you know, literally a day or so after they were soundly defeated and believed to be eradicated by players. Sadly, that doesn't look to be the case, as the bots have just launched a fresh assault on a bunch of planets.

If you're out of the hoop, here's a quick rundown of what's been happening in Helldivers lately: players fight automatons, automatons get defeated, arrowhead says automatons are gone forever, no one believes that - especially since it means game's PS5 platinum trophy would seemigly be unearnable going forwards, players fight bugs, players get close to defeating bugs, automatons return. Now, I'm gonna remember to take a breath.

The return of the automatons was announced via the game's official Twitter account. "Somehow, the Automatons returned," Arrowhead wrote, not doubt via a social media manager laughing at their own Star Wars reference.

With the Helldivers 2 automatons defeated, what happens next?

Don't worry, a fix for the frustrating Helldivers 2 crashes is coming

Wahey, Helldivers 2's latest patch fixes pesky mid-mission crashes - and snowball fights are allowed again

Helldivers 2 has just gotten another fresh patch, and I'm delighted to report that one of its fixes finally means crash-free snowball fights are back on the menu! Oh, and it should also rectify a bunch of other pesky freezes that've been frustratigly griding the action to a halt mid-operation for a lot of players.

Yup, even though there's probably something bad about to happen now that the galaxy's free from the threat of the automatons - a victory that's temporarily made the game un-platinumable - everything's right with the world now. For the first time in just under two weeks, you should be able to lob a snowball at your mate without worrying that doing so might cause your game to crash.

As recently teased via the game's Discord server, patch 01.000.202 for Helldivers 2 is mainly focused on stopping the game from crashing in a number of different situations. The instances that'd been causing the most ire in the community were those that had been happening either " during extraction [from a mission] and right after it", but you'll be glad to know that those and a host of other mid-mission crashes should hopefully now be a thing of the past.
