As Helldivers 2 slides down to about 10% of its player number peak on Steam, those left are torn as to how Arrowhead should try to right the ship

Helldivers 2 has been in a bit of a quiet period lately, relatively speaking. With Arrowhead largely busy focusing on bug fixes and putting out stuff at a bit of a slower cadence, some players have been getting a bit tired of the same old thing, with an unfortunate milestone the game's hit PC playerbase-wise having prompted some debate as to whether things might be getting a bit too static.

While the switch in how Arrowhead's approached solving issues and deploying new content in the game got a lot of initial support, the results have been a bit mixed in practice, with some gear and upgrades in particular - the spear's a big example - seeing a steady stream of problems afflict them, even after previously recieving fixes. Arrowhead continues to work hard to whack problems as they crop up, but you can kind of understand the frustration.

As this has been happening, the game's 24-hour player number peak on Steam, according to SteamDB (thanks, Forbes), sits at 45,315, which is only about 10% of the initial peak of 458,709 it recorded back in February. Now, to put this in context, that decline hasn't happened overnight and certainly isn't that abnormal - the game's player numbers on the platform have been gradually coming down since that point, having last hit the 200,000 mark in late April.

В Helldivers 2 наблюдается заметное сокращение игроков. С момента запуска кооперативный экшен Sony потерял порядка 90% аудитории на платформе Valve.

As more bugs are uncovered, Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead reminds players that not every datamine is worth getting excited about

In light of some chat about fresly datamined Termind models finding their way into the game's Discord server, a community manager for Helldivers 2 has emphasised to players why it doesn't acknowledge or take questions on leaks like this via official channels.

In recent months, a fair few models and images seemingly lurking in the game's backend have hit Reddit, with some being related to a long-rumoured faction addition, The Illuminate. The latest to emerge are some Terminid models, with one being a Bile Charger that the leaker behind it suggested will explode into a bunch of acid on death and the other being The Impaler from the first Helldivers.

Some player chatter about these discoveries looks to have seeped from Reddit into Helldivers 2's official Discord server, leading one of Arrowhead's community managers to respond to folks asking about it by outlining the studio's current stance when it comes to leaks.

Helldivers 2 players are headed back to the bug front, as Arrowhead teases giving Game Master Joel more tools to mess with Super Earth

Helldivers 2 is back at it again with another Major Order about keeping a bunch of planets under control, with the Terminds as the foe this time. However, don't worry if you're hoping Arrowhead will throw some more interesting wrinkles into the Galactic War, as it sounds like Game Master Joel might be getting some new tools soon.

Aside from that bit of nice child saving and some tree climbing it's been in bit quiet for Super Earth on the war from since the Meridia black hole became a thing. Thankfully, reading the tea leaves, it seems like folks could soon get the pick-up in action they crave.

First, this latest Major Order tasks players with establishing control of five planets - Erson Sands, Acamar IV, Pandion XXIV, Phact Bay, and Bore Rock - by the time it it expires. Why? Well, as Arrowhead community manager Baskinator explains, even though the Automatons have been temporarily pacified, the bugs' "hunger to infest and consume new worlds is as endless as their Tyranny".

Helldivers 2 developers have big, opaque plans for Galactic War and that black hole you made

Game development studio and intergalactic war ministry Arrowhead have launched a new series of written update posts for players of Helldivers 2 to help keep the war record straight. Mostly, this is the usual case of somebody on the team gathering quotes as the developers batter their fingertips against keyboards to bring you, the video gamer, fresh cannons and what-have-you. But there is some insight into what the conflict-pushers at Arrowhead have enjoyed most about player actions over the last month, including bringing an entire planet to the liberated state of post-existence.
