Steam Community Awards - Second Edition Now Available

[p]Today's Steam update launches an entirely new set of 12 Community Awards you can choose from to show your appreciation for the reviews, guides, forum posts, and other community content posted by folks in the community. This update also makes a few changes to how Community Awards work and how many Steam Points they cost. Read on for details.[/p][p](Need a primer on how Steam Community Awards work? See Community Awards instructions)[/p][p][/p]
Second Edition: 12 beautiful new awards
[p]This update retires the set of awards that have been around since the beginning of the Community Awards program. We're replacing them with this fresh new set of 12 awards, lovingly illustrated and animated for maximum gratification when giving and receiving! [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Just as before, you can purchase these awards using your Steam Points (earned by buying games), and use them in Steam Community to show your appreciation for things like user reviews, forum posts, guides, screenshots, artwork, Workshop mods, or even directly on your buddy's Steam profile. [/p][p][/p]
New: Awards no longer transfer points
[p]When we originally created Steam Community Awards, the idea was for them to not only look cool but to also grant a small number of Steam Points to the recipient, meaning they could be used as a tip of sorts for people who create and share amazing content with the Steam Community. However, we found that this encouraged and rewarded a narrow set of attention-grabbing content and didn't allow the focus to be as much on a broader pool of thoughtful, well-considered creative content. [/p][p]Because of this, we're refocusing the system: The Second Edition of Steam Community Awards won't transfer points. Instead, the goals of the system will be solely about conveying the appreciation of the viewer to the content creator, and as a signal to others that someone appreciated the piece of content.[/p][p]Any pending point transfers will complete like normal, but new award applications will not convey points.[/p][p][/p]
Awards now all cost the same number of Steam Points
[p]We've also made Community Awards all cost the same number of Steam Points, making it less confusing to choose an appropriate reaction. Now each Community Award costs 500 Steam Points.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Profile Showcase counts up your awards
[p]The new Second Edition Community Awards will be included in the Awards Showcase that you can add to your Steam Profile. [/p][p]If you want to show off the fact that you are generous in your giving of awards, or how much appreciation you've received for the cool stuff you've created, the Community Awards showcase features both of those numbers. This number will include all awards given and received, whether they were First Edition or Second Edition.[/p][p][/p][p]To add this showcase to your profile, visit your Edit Profile page (https://steamcommunity.com/my/edit/info)[/p][p][/p]
Frequently Asked Questions
[p]Q. I've got 3,141,592,653,589 Steam Points. What do I do with them all?[/p][p]A. Show your appreciation for the fine content shared in the Steam Community by giving Community Awards. Each time you see a user review, forum post, guide, screenshot, artwork or other Steam community post, click the little AWARD icon and select a thematically-appropriate award to grant that content.[/p][p]Or visit the Steam Points Shop and get cool items to deck out your Steam Community profile, get cool stickers and emoticons to spiff up your conversations, unlock new profile showcases, or level up the Seasonal Badge.[/p][p][/p][p]Q. Do Community Awards impact the sort order of content?[/p][p]A. Nope. User generated content posted to Steam is typically ordered by how recent it is or by the number of helpful votes it has received. The number or type of Steam Community Awards applied to a piece of content does not cause that content to appear higher or lower on lists. Though we expect that a piece of content with a bunch of awards may be more likely to catch your eye, and thus may get more helpful ratings indirectly.[/p][p][/p][p]Q. What happened to my favorite Community Award?[/p][p]A. The Second Edition set of Community Awards is intentionally a smaller set of awards, each one meaning something distinct from the others. This set is designed to make it quicker and easier to choose and keep the vibes positive.[/p][p]The First Edition awards cannot be granted anymore.[/p][p][/p][p]Q. Is there a Second Edition badge?[/p][p]A. First Edition series of Community Awards had two associated badges, the Community Contributor and Community Patron badges, which leveled up with each award given or received. These badges will remain on profiles that had granted or received First Edition Community Awards, but will not include Second Edition awards. If you are looking to count up the number of awards that you have given or received, you can find that count by visiting your Awards Summary page.[/p]

• [p]Fixed apps not showing in Linux Add Non-Steam Game dialog after browsing for them.[/p]
• [p]Fixed Windows games intermittently not showing as installable on Linux when a valid Proton mapping is selected.[/p]
• [p]Fixed some games failing to start correctly.[/p]
• [p]Fixed controller configurations showing up blank when the "Enabled Guide Button Chords" option is disabled.[/p]
[p][/p][p]General[/p]
• [p]The Steam client is now 64-bit on Windows 11 and Windows 10 64-bit.[/p]
• [p]Systems running 32-bit versions of Windows will continue receiving updates to the 32-bit Steam client until January 1, 2026.[/p]
• [p]Fixed non-Steam browser windows erroneously being created sometimes when steamwebhelper is restarted.[/p]
[p]Game Recording[/p]
• [p]Fixed errors copying to clipboard or exporting H265 videos on systems with a NVIDIA 50xx series gpu.[/p]
[p]Friends & Chat[/p]
• [p]Suspicious or harassing group chat messages can now be reported directly in the chat window by right clicking the message. You can optionally block and/or unfriend the other user while submitting the report.[/p]
[p]Big Picture Mode[/p]
• [p]Fixed intermittent in-game purchase failures for some games.[/p]
[p]Remote Play[/p]
• [p]Fixed being unable to move the mouse to another monitor when using touch controls on the Steam Link app.[/p]
[p]Steam Input[/p]
• [p]Added support for Nintendo Switch 2 controllers connected over USB on Windows[/p]
• [p]Added support for GameCube adapters in Wii-U mode with rumble on Windows[/p]
• [p]Added an "Invert Input" toggle in "Regular Press" activator settings. When enabled, this causes button presses to generate releases, and vice versa. [/p]
• [p]Promoted the newer gyro modes from beta to the default gyro modes loaded. Older configuration that are using the older modes will still see the option and you can also enable Steam Input dev mode under Settings->Developer to keep them visible all the time.[/p]
• [p]Adjusted Dualsense "Create" and "Options" glyphs for better recall.[/p]
• [p]In all Gyro Modes, when selecting multiple gyro activation buttons, you can also choose whether "Any" or "All" buttons are required to Enable/Suppress/Toggle the gyro.[/p]
• [p]Gyro Haptic On/Off effect is now separated from Gyro Haptic Rotation Effect.[/p]
• [p]Gyro to Joystick Deflection Mode: Added "Use Relative Roll" & "Use Relative Pitch" toggles. When enabled, this makes the output Joystick deflection relative to the controller's pose since the Gyro's activation. i.e. turning on the gyro will always center the stick output. When disabled, the deflection angle is absolute vs. the controller's gravity sensor. Previously this was only possible for "Pitch" (old name: "World Auto Tilt"), but it's now available for Roll as well.[/p]
• [p]Gyro to Joystick Deflection: "Relative Roll" and "Relative Pitch" toggles are only available if a Gyro Activation Button is selected, because the angles are relative to the pose of the controller each time the Gyro is activated.[/p]
• [p]Fixed a case where the desktop version of the configurator could unexpectedly close when trying to preview a configuration for another game on the Search tab[/p]
• [p]Fixed Dualsense Edge, Xbox Elite, Nintendo JoyCons in paired mode not finding the correct config to edit.[/p]
• [p]Fixed Gyro to Joystick Deflection: Lock Extents not working as intended.[/p]
• [p]Fixed Gyro to Joystick Deflection: Some combinations of "Relative Roll" and "Relative Pitch" toggles resulted in zero joystick output.[/p]
