Devil's Trail Live Event

Gather your courage, Hunters. It’s time to brave Devil’s Trail.

Experience the bayou and gulch in a whole new way as you're left to track your enemies and scout out points of interest on the map. Keep an eye out for sure signs of enemy Hunters: used bandages, broken barrels, open doors, and more. Use caution as you approach the Scout Towers that will reveal hidden information on your map. Follow the dark plumes of smoke in the sky to find secret rewards. But beware—there's a new monster out to melt the flesh from your bones with its brutal fiery attacks. Think you can handle the heat?
New monster: Firebreather
A new fire-breathing monster makes its way to the bayou and gulch. Found amongst groups of Grunts, the Firebreather spews fire from a distance and will require care to dispatch.
• The Firebreather has a long-range fire breath, but will stand still before attacking.
• Not quite a Grunt, and not quite an Immolator, but shares attributes from both
• Small bursts of fire erupt from the body when you pierce its skin with bullets and blades, but it does not fully burst into flames
• On death, the Firebreather may let out a final blaze of fire with his last breath, depending on where it got hit.
• To bring it down, keep your distance and use ranged weapons, or if you are daring, strike it with a blunt weapon at the right moment and back away.
• Temporarily loses its fire breathing attack when exposed to water and hitting it directly with a Water Bottle or Choke cloud will kill it instantly.
• Watch out, Firebreathers and explosives don’t mix well.
Hidden information
Dev note: With the Devil’s Trail event, we are aiming to bring a new gameplay dynamic to Bounty Hunt by limiting gameplay information. This is intended to encourage objective play and exploration, giving the advantage to players who engage with boss targets or take the time to locate points of interest before a fight. We’ll closely monitor the community’s feedback on these new event mechanics.

• During Devil’s Trail, Supply Points and Extraction Points are hidden from the map.
• To reveal the locations of Supply Points and Extraction Points, players can:
• Find and interact with a Scouting Map in-game
• Discover the locations themselves by walking up to them, pinging them from a distance, or locating them with the Spyglass
• Extraction Point locations can additionally be revealed by:
• Picking up a Bounty Token
• Banishing a Boss Target
• Using “The Chariot” Tarot Card.
Scout Towers
• New tower archetype, which contains special loot and new interactions.
• Two Scout Towers appear in every Mission, they will be the only points marked on the map at the start of a match. Players should go there to reveal more of the map.
• Scout Towers contain:
• A new interactive Scouting Map, which reveals all hidden Supply Points, Extraction Points, Wild Targets and Sealed Bounty Tokens present.
• New Tarot Cards to help you track other Hunters
• Custom Ammo, Traits, and weapons
New Tarot Cards

The High Priestess
• When used, the Tarot Card shows the direction to the closest enemy Hunter.
• The direction is given via a particle effect in the world and a temporary compass marker. The effect will disappear again after a few seconds.
• If no Hunter is present, the Tarot Card will dissipate without spawning an effect.
• The Tarot Card can be used at any point in the Mission to either find enemy teams or reveal whether other teams are present at all.
Dev Note: While having some overlap with “The Hanged Man” Tarot Card, “The High Priestess” is more inclined to help track down the closest enemy hunter more easily, while “The Hanged Man” provides more info about the hunter being tracked. “The High Priestess” being a passive ability also leans itself towards being used in combat as it doesn’t take the player out of the fight.
The Pathfinder
• The Tarot Card reveals all used Clues on the map at the time of the card’s usage, with:
• Used Clues in red
• Highlighting will disappear after some time.
• Using the Tarot Card while having another The Pathfinder active updates the map and resets the timer

Dev Note: Timing is key with the “The Pathfinder” and waiting for the right moment will give players the most value out of the card.
Burned Convoys
• World location serving as a new point of interest on the map with unique loot
• Players can always find the Catalyst Trait, “The Empress” and “The Chariot” Tarot Cards, A Full Health Restoration Kit and more at the Burned Convoys
• Not visible on the map by default—must be located via map interaction or in person
• Burned Convoys emit large plumes of smoke, allowing them to be located from a distance
New Trait: All Ears
• When having the Trait equipped, a player's Dark Sight audio changes drastically
• The usual noise accompanying Dark Sight gets toned down, making all audio easier to distinguish while using it
• Hunter audio coming from the player’s view direction becomes louder and more pronounced
• The Trait can be found at the Scout Towers and Burned Convoys and acquired for 2 Pledge Marks
Gameplay

General
• All not sealed Trait Spurs found in-world now disappear after first use. After interacting with a Trait, a 90 second countdown begins, after which the Trait will fade into dust, leaving a scorch mark in its place.
• Sealed Trait Spurs will remain after use.
• Trait Spurs spawn at a decreased rate in the world. Trait Spurs that do spawn are of a higher worth than previously.
• Trait Spurs are now visible and audible in Dark Sight within a short radius.
• Meatheads, Brutes, and Ursa Mortis are now guaranteed to drop Trait Spurs on death.
• The pool of dropped Trait Spurs from Meatheads has been expanded, reducing the average Upgrade Point value from dropped Trait Spurs.
Dev note: These changes should make Trait Spurs found in the world feel more special to find, while rewarding players that actively Hunt for them with consistent ways to get Traits.
Tarot Cards:
• Increased duration of “The Sun” Tarot Card’s effect to 90 sec from 60 sec.
• Dark Sight Decoy dropped from “The Magician” Tarot Card now also triggers the Red Clue effect and Boss Target whispers for enemy teams.
• “The World” now rewards 1 Clue reward (Event Points, the Conduit Trait buffs, etc.) per Boss Target discovered with it.
• “The Tower” Tarot Card now does additional damage against Boss Targets and kills Wild Targets
• Players can now always find Tarot Cards in the world at certain points of interest:
• “The Garden and “The Fool” at the Postal Supply
• “The Magician” and “The Hanged Man” at the Clockmaker's Supply
• “The Moon” and “The Judgement” at the Sealed Hoard
• “The Empress” and “The Chariot” at the Burned Convoys
• “The Pathfinder” and “The High Priestess” at the Scout Towers.
Passive Tracking
We’ve expanded the number of entities in-game which change states visibly after being used by players. Enemy teams can use this information to retrace the steps of other Hunters.

The following objects now leave visible traces or remain after player interaction, making it easier to retrace enemy steps and plan ambushes:

• Envelopes: Now are more obviously torn open and remain open after interaction.
• Explosive/ Oil/ Poison Barrels: Leave broken remains after exploding.
• Dogs and Chickens: Their corpses remain in their cages after being killed.
• Birds/Ducks: Leave feathers on takeoff and death. Bird and duck corpses also remain when killed.
• Traits: Now leave scorch marks on the ground after use, providing a persistent visual indicator.
• Doors: Doors are fully closed by default. Once opened, doors never return to their fully closed state, making it easier to track player movement through buildings.
• Ammo Packs: Now open and remain open after use.
• Breakable Fences: Vaulting over some wooden fences will cause them to crack, leaving visible evidence of traversal.
• First Aid Kits & Medical Packs: Using them leaves behind bloody rags on the ground.
• Animal Cage Lanterns: Animal cage lanterns now leave broken remains when destroyed by players.
• Hunt Dollar and Blood Bond Purses: Interacting with these purses now visually opens them.
AI
• Brutes and Ursa Mortis are weaker to Poison Damage.
• Meatheads, Immolators, Hellhounds, and Water Devils are slightly weaker to Poison Damage.
• Immolators retain their invulnerability to poison clouds.
• Immolators now cause little charcoaling damage with their attacks, if not soaked.
• Brutes, Ursa Mortis, and Meatheads are slightly more resistant to Arrows and Bolts.
• Alive and burning AIs can burn players by contact now. Burning corpses don’t.
• The Butcher now reignites the hook fire if extinguished when he frenzies.
• Grunts, Armoreds, Meatheads, Brutes, Ursa Mortis, and Bileweavers deal Fire Damage while they die with the fire death animation (not when rag-dolling).
• New ambient idle break animations have been added to the monster cast to make them feel more alive.
• Hellborn is now more resistant to explosives and weaker to Water Bottles.
• Hellborn is now guaranteed to drop either Death Cheat, Relentless, Rampage, or Remedy when killed.
Audio
• Reworked footstep sounds on coal to be more readable and realistic by including coal specific “clink” sounds
• Added specific sounds for Spider pounce attacks
• Slightly increased volume and frequency of suspicious Crow vocalizations
• Slightly increased volume of footstep layers that play when a Hunter is above or below you in a building
• Slightly decreased the volume of equipping and unequipping of the Dark Dynamite Satchel
• Slightly decreased the volume of some exterior echoes that can be heard when enclosed by rocks or brick walls
• Improved fade out of the menu music when loading into a Mission
• Added a fade out of all in-game sounds after extracting
Shooting Range and Tutorial Updates
• Added a new ability to spawn basic Hunter bots when in the Shooting Range for use as moving target practice. Bots are immortal, do not interact with players, and do not react to status effects or obstacles.
• Updated tutorial to use simplified Hunter bots instead of dummies.
New Player Onboarding
• Monsters are gradually introduced now up until and including Bloodline Rank 11, instead of Bloodline Rank 20.
• Boss Targets are introduced one by one while players are below Bloodline Rank 11.
• Boss Target health is reduced until Bloodline Rank 10. First to 50%, later to 75%. Team composition affects the reduction: solos face a more weakened Boss Target compared to teams.
• New player contracts (below Bloodline Rank 11) only have a single Boss Target.
World
• Implemented a 250m minimum radius between normal Supply Points to prevent them from spawning in close proximity. Themed Supply Points and standard Supply Points can still spawn closer to one another.
• The Oro Gordo Mine entrance has undergone some changes
• Removed one silo to open up the second floor of Oro Gordo Mine’s Boss Target lair and minimize unnecessary cornering.
UI

Gear Skin Pagination
• You can now equip Skins for your equipment directly from the Loadout Screen, without needing to go into a deeper menu.
• PC players can use the arrow controls, while console players can use the bumper buttons, to navigate between available Skins for an equipment item.
• If you do not own any Skins for an item, the Skin pagination controls will not be shown.
• If the item is already equipped, any Skin change will apply immediately.
• Your Skin selections will be saved until you change them again.
Lobby Invite Codes
• Players can generate, show, hide, and enter lobby invite codes from the lobby side panel.
• PlayStation and Xbox players can group together, and Steam and Windows players can group together.
• Groups formed using invite codes will not disband after Missions.
• Players can send multiple invitations via invite code at the same time with Lobby slots filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Hunter Roster Screen Redesign
• The Hunter Details screen has been removed.
• The roster grid is now aligned to the left side of the screen.
• Empty slots are now clearly visible, so you no longer need to rely on the counter.
• There are recruitment buttons in the grid at the top: All Hunters and Free Hunters.
• All Hunters includes Legendary Hunters and Hunters acquired through Bloodline, Prestige, Story Challenges, and other sources.
• You can now navigate between All Hunters and Free Hunters via tabs on the top navigation bar.
• You can now purchase Blood Bond Hunters directly from this screen, without being redirected to the store.
