July 2025 Variants

Vecnas are attacking. Vecnae are attacking? Multiple Vecnas have emerged from across the multiverse to cause chaos in these 15 new Adventure Variants! You get a Vecna, and you get a Vecna -- everyone gets a Vecna!

15 new Adventure Variants emerge across five campaigns, bringing endless Vecnas to the Grand Tour of the Sword Coast, Wild Beyond the Witchlight, Light of Xaryxis, Turn of Fortune's Wheel, and Vecna: Eve of Ruin campaigns!

[h2]A Grand Tour of the Sword Coast[/h2]


[h3]The Madness of Zuggtmoy[/h3]

[h3]Variant: A Bad Trip Down Memory Lane[/h3]
Collect a bunch of mushrooms while facing almost everything you could possibly imagine.
  • You may only use Champions that are wiser than they are quick.
  • Every wave spawns a random enemy. They don't drop gold, nor count towards quest progress.
  • Complete Area 500

[h3]The Cult of Lolth[/h3]

[h3]Variant: The Cult of Vecna[/h3]
Enter the drow city of Menzoberranzan and face both the Cult of Lolth AND the Cult of Vecna!
  • You may only use Champions that are more charismatic than they are strong.
  • Enemies have their damage increased by 25% for each enemy present, stacking multiplicatively.
  • There is a 50% chance that Vecna and 5 cultists spawn in the first wave of every area. They don't drop gold, nor count towards quest progress.
  • Complete Area 500

[h3]The Demon Lords of the Abyss[/h3]

[h3]Variant: Doom and Domination[/h3]
Face the Demon Lords of the Abyss while dealing with dominated duelists.
  • Bosses can't be stunned, and they immediately start to enrage upon spawning.
  • Every 10 seconds, your current BUD-setting Champion is dominated and therefore Stunned for 10 seconds.
  • Complete Area 500

[h2]The Wild Beyond the Witchlight[/h2]


[h3]The Bitter End[/h3]

[h3]Variant: A Strong Approach[/h3]
Race through Motherhorn to rescue Gleam's sister with your most athletic champions.
  • You may only use Champions with a Strength of 17 or higher.
  • Enemies take a maximum of 25% of their maximum hit points each time they are damaged.
  • Champions take a minimum of 10% of their maximum hit points each time they are damaged.
  • Complete Area 1000

[h3]The Palace of Heart's Desire[/h3]

[h3]Variant: The Secrets of Vecna's Desire[/h3]
Learn about the Palace of Heart's Desire while facing illusions of Vecna.
  • You may only use Champions that are smarter than they are wise.
  • There is a 50% chance that Vecna spawns in the first wave of every non-boss area. They don't drop gold, nor count towards quest progress. Each time this happens, Vecna's speed and damage increases by 1% for the rest of the adventure, stacking multiplicatively.
  • Complete Area 1050

[h3]The Court of Storms[/h3]

[h3]Variant: Don't Miss with Hiss[/h3]
Enter the Palace of Heart's Desire and finally unlock the secrets of Prismeer with Nat and Hiss!
  • You may only use Champions that don't belong to an affiliation.
  • Nat and Nat's crocodile Hiss joins the formation. Champions next to either of them are busy protecting them and miss with 50% of their attacks.
  • Complete Area 1100

[h3]Into Xaryxispace[/h3]

[h3]Variant: One Vecna at a Time[/h3]
The time has come to attack the Imperial Citadel. Ready your smartest Champions!
  • You may only use Champions that are smarter than they are strong.
  • There is a 50% chance that a Vecna Impersonator spawns in the first wave of every area. They don't drop gold, nor count towards quest progress. While this Vecna Impersonator is present, any other enemies are immune to damage.
  • Complete Area 1100

[h3]The Battle of Xaryxis[/h3]

[h3]Variant: A Tough Offense[/h3]
Find a way to rescue Xedalli and stop Xeleth with your best fighting force.
  • You may only use Champions that are tougher than they are strong.
  • You may only use three Champions that don't have the DPS tag.
  • Complete Area 1150

[h3]The Last Light of Xaryxis[/h3]

[h3]Variant: 10 Minutes to Doomsday[/h3]
Time is tight as the Champions must escape Xaryxispace!
  • Every 50 areas starting at area 1, a 10 minute countdown starts. If the countdown hits zero before getting through the 50 areas, every Champion in the formation is removed and can't be used for the rest of the adventure.
  • Anytime there are less than 7 minutes left in the countdown you can't remove Champions from the formation. This restriction is removed when the countdown timer reaches 0 until the countdown starts again.
  • Complete Area 1200

[h2]Turn of Fortune's Wheel[/h2]


[h3]Time's Mausoleum[/h3]

[h3]Variant: Infernal Legacy[/h3]
Help Eonstaryx with a dragon memory problem with some tiefling Champions.
  • You may only use Lawful Champions and/or Tiefling Champions.
  • Graz'zt joins the formation. Champions next to him deal no damage unless they are Evil and/or Tieflings.
  • Complete Area 1000

[h3]Heroes of the Day[/h3]

[h3]Variant: Heroes of the Hour[/h3]
The Champions venture into the mountains of the Outlands and discover what being a fast hero really means.
  • You must complete area 1050 within 60 minutes of starting the variant.
  • Complete Area 1050

[h3]The Lost Modron[/h3]

[h3]Variant: Tome and Blood[/h3]
Search for R04M within the encroaching darkness of the Shadowfell with some arcane allies.
  • You may only use Wizard and Sorcerer Champions.
  • Champions with an Intelligence of 18 or higher have their positional formation abilities increased by 100%.
  • There is a 50% chance that Vecna spawns in the first wave of every area. They don't drop gold, nor count towards quest progress. Other monsters have their speed and damage increased by 300% while this Vecna is present.
  • Complete Area 1100

[h2]Vecna: Eve of Ruin[/h2]


[h3]The Ruined Colossus[/h3]

[h3]Variant: No Slow Options[/h3]
Travel to Eberron to find a piece of the rod inside a ruined warforged colossus while facing quick enemies!
  • You may only use Champions that are quicker than they are charismatic.
  • 1-2 Warforged spawn with each wave. They don't drop gold, nor count towards quest progress.
  • Enemies move 200% faster and attack twice as often.
  • Complete Area 750

[h3]Death House[/h3]

[h3]Variant: Prime Time[/h3]
Make your way to Barovia to find the next piece of the Rod of Seven Parts while Vecna makes his presence known.
  • You may only use Champions in seats 2, 3, 5, 7, and 11.
  • There is a 50% chance that Vecna spawns in the first wave of every area. They don't drop gold, nor count towards quest progress.
  • Complete Area 800

[h3]Sacrifice[/h3]

[h3]Variant: Get to the Point[/h3]
Survive the night with only elves in Strahd's twisted nightmare… If you dare!
  • You may only use Elf and Half-Elf Champions.
  • A random Champion takes damage equal to a percentage of their max health every second (in real time). The percentage starts at 10% and increases by 10% (additively) every 100 areas. Damage does not trigger for the first 5 (real time) seconds in every area.
  • 1-2 Vampires sent by Strahd spawn with each wave. They don't drop gold, nor count towards quest progress.
  • Complete Area 850
