New Champion: Lark



    A consummate showman and performer, Lark loves the spotlight, but his desire for attention might end up getting him killed. Hunted by mysterious enemies with deadly intent, Lark has nevertheless managed to forge a degree of notoriety and a small fan following as a bard, all while evading his pursuers and any questions about who is hunting him and why. Lark left his old band of performers and initially joined up with the Fallbacks in order to surround himself with powerful protectors. He didn’t expect to catch feelings for the group in the process, but he’s adjusting. The show must go on, after all.

Lark is a Support, Speed, and Debuff Champion who boosts the damage of Champions in the middle of his formation. He favors sharp words over sharp weapons, but when all else fails, he’ll reach for his crossbow, Last Resort. This impulsive showman has a habit of running off on his own and landing himself in trouble.

  • Vicious Mockery(magic) -Lark attacks a random enemy, dealing 1 hit. Lark prefers to attack enemies he hasn't attacked yet.

[h3]Passive Abilities[/h3]
  • Uggie! - Uggie joins the party, starting next to Lark unless she's already in the formation next to another Fallbacks Champion. Uggie increases the damage of all non-adjacent Champions by 100%.

[h3]Formation Abilities[/h3]
  • Devil May Care - Lark increases the damage of all Champions that aren't in the first or last column by 100%.
  • Uptempo Uggie - Uggie's buff is increased by 400% when Lark is in the formation.
  • Bardic Perspiration - When Uggie is with Lark, and at least 50% of the area's quest requirements are met, Lark sprints off to the next area, leaving the formation (and Uggie) behind. When the formation catches up to him, Lark has already antagonized several enemies, spawning 1 enemy in the next area before the formation even arrives.
    • Updated Basic Attack: Uggie's Bite (melee) - Uggie leaps out and bites a random enemy, dealing 1 hit. Uggie will prioritize enemies she hasn't attacked yet.
  • Rapt Audience - When Lark attacks an enemy and does not defeat it, the enemy gains the Charmed debuff. Charmed enemies take 100% additional damage for each Charmed debuff that Lark has applied in the current area, stacking multiplicatively and capping at 10 stacks. If Lark attacks an enemy he has already Charmed, it still increments his Charmed count for the area. Once Lark applies his maximum number of Charmed stacks in an area, he switches over to use his crossbow, named Last Resort.
    • Updated Basic Attack: Last Resort (ranged) - Lark fires his Crossbow at the closest enemy dealing 5 seconds of BUD based damage.

  • Band of Misfits - Lark increases the damage of Devil May Care by 100% for each unique class in the formation, stacking multiplicatively.
  • Center of Attention - Lark increases the damage of Devil May Care by 175% for each Fallback Champion and/or Champion with a Charisma score of 13 or lower in the formation, stacking multiplicatively.
  • Path of Nightmares - Lark increases the damage of Devil May Care by 150% for each Tiefling and/or Evil Champion in the formation, stacking multiplicatively.

Simril returns on Wednesday, December 3rd. The fourth event of Year 9 introduces our latest addition to The Fallbacks, Lark, a tinker to Nordom's kit, and features a new challenging augment alongside a few returning favorites:

  • Augment 1: Challenge Week (New Augment)

    Description: A Mastery Challenge will start on the third week of the event, providing opportunities to prove your formation-building skills and earn unique rewards.
  • Augment 2: Golden Weekly Offers (Returning Augment)

    Description: One of your weekly offers will be Golden during this event. Golden offers provide an additional 10% discount! The Golden tag persists when an offer is rerolled.
  • Augment 3: Auto-Blacksmith (Returning Augment)

    Description: Event Champions whose recruitment adventure or variants you complete gain common rarity equipment in all slots if they don't already have better. Every tier two or higher event variant completed automatically applies 100 Tiny Blacksmithing Contracts to the variant's Champion's equipment for free!
  • Augment 4: Boon Enhancements (Returning Augment)

    Description: An additional boon buff at each level increases the damage of Tiefling Champions!

Well met!

We are excited to bring you the fourth installment of the Tales of the Champions campaign, where we will be visiting the City of Splendor and a carnival that travels the planes for two new adventures and six challenging variants!

On our next adventures, Havilar and her twin sister are pulled into a black market investigation along with the infamous Black Viper, while Hank and the Saturday Morning Squad get magical assistance from a pixie to sneak into the Witchlight Carnival -- what could go wrong?

Completing the base adventures will unlock Havilar (Seat 10) and Hank (Seat 1). Completing the variants will earn you exclusive Feats, Tanking Pigments, and two unique Skins that cannot be found anywhere else!

As we enter Act 2 of the campaign, to be able to access these new adventures, you'll need to have completed 6 Tales adventures or Variants. Additionally, the area targets for the base adventures and variants have increased.

Havilar and her twin sister Farideh may not often see eye to eye, but they always stand together. A shopping trip in Waterdeep is soon waylaid by a black market conspiracy involving ambitious wizards, costume changes, and a book club.

[h3]Variant 1: Double Standards[/h3]
Havilar and Farideh get pulled into a black market investigation with twice the requirements.
  • Havilar starts in the formation. She can be moved, but not removed.
  • You may only use Champions that are a Standard Species. Standard Species are Aasimar, Dragonborn, Dwarf, Elf, Gnome, Goliath, Halfling, Human, Orc, Tiefling, Half-Orc, and Half-Elf.
  • Quest requirements are doubled in non-boss areas.
  • Getting to Know Idle Champions: Some Speed Champions, like Havilar, increase the rate at which you progress in area quests. Use her and other Speed Champions to get through these increased requirements.
  • Complete Area 350
  • Rewards: 4 Gold Havilar Chests and 250 Corrupted Gems

[h3]Variant 2: Chipping Away[/h3]
Havilar and Farideh get pulled into a black market investigation while facing some armored foes.

Must have completed a Tier 2 variant in an Event
  • Havilar starts in the formation. She can be moved, but not removed.
  • You may only use Champions with an ability score total of 81 or more.
  • All enemies have 4 armored health if they don't already have segmented health.
  • Enemy speed and damage are increased by 100%.
  • All Champions' base attack cooldowns are increased by 3 seconds.
  • Complete Area 800
  • Rewards: 3x Tanking Pigments and 250 Corrupted Gems

[h3]Variant 3: Charging Up[/h3]
Havilar and Farideh get pulled into a black market investigation while facing foes that grow stronger before they engage.
Must have completed a Tier 3 variant in an Event
  • Havilar starts in the formation. She can be moved, but not removed.
  • You may only use Neutral Good, Chaotic Good, and/or Chaotic Neutral Champs.
  • Each enemy's damage increases by 100% for each second they are active before they attack, stacking multiplicatively.
  • Complete Area 1400
  • Rewards: Ball Gown Havilar Skin and 250 Corrupted Gems

Hank the Ranger and his faithful friends receive magical assistance from a mischievous pixie to enter the Witchlight Carnival - but when the enchantments unravel, the Saturday Morning Squad learns a valuable lesson about trust.

[h3]Variant 1: How Low Can You Go?[/h3]
Hank and his friends with a variety of low ability scores enjoy the Witchlight Carnival.
  • Hank starts in the formation. He can be moved, but not removed.
  • You may only use Champions with an ability score total of 78 or less.
  • Once you have two Champions in the formation with a particular ability score total, you may not add any more Champions with that particular ability score total.
  • Getting to Know Idle Champions: Many variants restrict Champions based on their ability scores. By collecting a bunch of Champions, you'll have more choices in these restrictive variants.
  • Complete Area 350
  • Rewards: 4 Gold Hank Chests and 250 Corrupted Gems

[h3]Variant 2: One Hit Wonders[/h3]
Hank and his friends enjoy the Witchlight Carnival while facing particularly deadly enemies.

Must have completed a Tier 2 variant in an Event
  • Hank starts in the formation. He can be moved, but not removed.
  • You may only use Champions that are 30 years old or younger. Additionally, you may use Rosie and/or Gromma.
  • All enemies in a wave spawn at the same time.
  • Enemies with melee attacks automatically defeat Champions they deal damage to.
  • Complete Area 800
  • Rewards: Epic Hank Feat: Prodigal Leader (Increases the damage of all champions by 50%) and 250 Corrupted Gems

[h3]Variant 3: Crossover Episode[/h3]
Hank and ALL of his friends enjoy the Witchlight Carnival thanks to the generosity of a 'friendly' pixie.
Must have completed a Tier 3 variant in an Event
  • Hank starts in the formation. He can be moved, but not removed.
  • You may only use Good Champions.
  • Assorted friends join the formation.
  • At the start of each Boss area, Venger arrives on his nightmare as an additional boss that must be defeated.
  • Complete Area 1200
  • Rewards: Trickster Hank Skin and 250 Corrupted Gem

Champion Update: Havilar

    Havilar's twin sister Farideh has always been 'the smart one' and 'the responsible one'—but that's all right, Havilar is definitely 'the tough one,' 'the funny one' and the 'pretty one' (despite being identical twins). Plus, Havilar has a hellhound! Even if it means she's a sort-of-but-not-quite Chosen of Asmodeus, too, not that anyone asked Havi about that. But he should know her glaive is as good as her right hand, and she can slice a devil just as well as an orc, a zombie, or any other villain!

Havilar has received a major rework with a focus on simplifying her design and increasing synergy with Farideh and Mehen.

  • Glaive Thrust(melee) -Havilar cleaves the closest enemy with her Glaive, hitting all nearby enemies.

[h3]Formation Abilities[/h3]
  • Leadership Summit - Havilar increases the damage of all Champions in the 2 columns behind her by 400%.
  • Fiendish Resolve - When any Fiend enemies are on-screen, Havilar focuses less on her own attacks and more on buffing her party. Her base attack cooldown is doubled, but the effect of Leadership Summit is increased by 100% for each Fiend that has appeared in the current area, stacking multiplicatively and capping at 25. Fiend bosses count 15 times.
  • Mot - Havilar gains Mot as her first Imp companion. Havilar's Imps attack random enemies with Fire of Asmodeus every 4.3 seconds. Mot increases the effect of Leadership Summit by 100% for each Tiefling Champion in the formation, stacking multiplicatively.
    • Fire of Asmodeus: Each summoned Imp attacks a random enemy with a fireball, dealing a large amount of area damage.
  • Infernal Fortitude - Havilar increases the health of all other Champions by 25% of her max health, and healing effects on all Champions are increased by 25%.
  • Battlemaster - Champions affected by Havilar's Leadership Summit gain the Control role (if they didn't already have it) and have a 25% chance for enemies they attack to go berserk for 8 seconds. Berserked enemies move 50% faster, attack twice as often, but deal 90% less damage.
  • Sister, Sister - Increase the effect of Leadership Summit by 500% when Farideh is in the formation. Additionally, whenever Farideh's Hellish Rebuke is triggered, Havilar heals for up to 2.5% of her maximum health. This can trigger at most 400 times in a single area.
  • Speed Demon - Fiend enemies have a 50% chance of dropping two quest items or counting for two kills when killed.

[h2]Specializations[/h2]
  • Dembo - Havilar gains Dembo as an Imp companion. Dembo increases the effect of Leadership Summit by 200% and if Mehen is in the formation, he gains 2 additional Grumpy stacks (he doesn't like Dembo).
  • Olla - Havilar gains Olla as an Imp companion. Olla increases the effect of Leadership Summit by 10% for each unique enemy Havilar has tanked in the current area, stacking multiplicatively and capping at 100. Additionally, when Havilar or either of her Imps attacks an enemy, the enemy is taunted to attack Havilar.
  • Bosh - Havilar gains Bosh as an Imp companion. Bosh increases the effect of Leadership Summit by 50% for each enemy or boss enrage stack active, stacking multiplicatively up to 100 stacks, and also increases Havilar's maximum health by 50%.

  • Heroic Sacrifice(magic) -An imp flings itself at a random enemy and explodes in a large area, dealing ultimate damage and granting a bonus to its buff. The imp is resummoned a short time later.
