New Champion: Cazrin



    Cazrin is the ray of sunshine in the party, the eternal optimist, the friendly ear or the shoulder to cry on. She is passionate about magic, knowledge, and learning, always experimenting or testing new theories. Growing up, Cazrin’s family feared and forbade the study of magic because of an ancestress who misused her power, so Cazrin was forced to teach herself and eventually leave her family behind to pursue her dreams. Intelligent but inexperienced, she has embraced a life of adventuring to gather the thrills and experiences that as a child she could only read about in books.

Cazrin is a Support and DPS Champion that collects books as she adventures with the Fallbacks' faithful companion, Uggie. Her Sunny Disposition increases the damage of Champions in her column and the columns in front of her, and she's always ready to protect herself with Mage Armor.

  • Magic Missile(magic) -Cazrin fires 2 magic missiles at random enemies, preferring different targets if possible

[h3]Passive Abilities[/h3]
  • Uggie! - Uggie joins the party, starting next to Cazrin unless she's already in the formation next to another Fallbacks Champion. Uggie increases the damage of all non-adjacent Champions by 100%.

[h3]Formation Abilities[/h3]
  • Library of Lore - Whenever a boss is defeated for the first time in an adventure, it drops a Book that Cazrin collects. Subsequent kills of the same boss have a 10% chance of dropping an additional Book. The maximum number of Books that can be collected during a single adventure is the highest area reached divided by 5, rounded down. Cazrin keeps track of both the number of Books she has collected in the current adventure, as well as the size of her Library, which is the number of Books she has collected across all adventures. Cazrin's damage is increased by 10% for each book in her Library, stacking additively. Each time her Library reaches a new order of magnitude, the base buff is multiplicatively increased by 100%.
  • Sunny Disposition - Cazrin increases the damage of all Champions in her column (including herself) and the columns in front of her by 100%.
  • Unctuous Uggie - Uggie's buff is increased by 400% when Cazrin is in the formation.
  • Mage Armor - The first time anyone in the formation takes damage in each area, Cazrin casts Mage Armor on herself. Champions affected by Mage Armor decrease the damage they take by 25%.
  • In Search of Knowledge - Cazrin's attacks and abilities gain additional effects based on the number of Books that she has collected in the current adventure.
    • 10+ Books: Cazrin fires an additional Magic Missile with her base attack.
    • 40+ Books: Increase the effect of Sunny Disposition by 5% for each Book she has collected in the current adventure, stacking multiplicatively.
    • 80+ Books: Cazrin fires an additional Magic Missile with her base attack.
    • 120+ Books: When triggered, Mage Armor is now cast on all Champions in the formation instead of just Cazrin.
    • 160+ Books: Increase the effect of Unctuous Uggie by 1% for each Book Cazrin has collected in the current adventure, stacking additively.
    • 200+ Books: Support Champions affected by Mage Armor have a 40% chance to deal an additional 5 seconds of BUD damage with each normal attack hit.
    • 240+ Books: Mage Armor's damage prevention is increased to 50%.
    • 300+ Books: For each Tanking Champion affected by Mage Armor, the effect of Sunny Disposition is increased by 400%, stacking multiplicatively.

  • Self Taught - Cazrin increases the damage bonus of Sunny Disposition by 100% for each Fallbacks Champion and/or Champions with a Melee and/or Ranged base attack in the formation, stacking multiplicatively.
  • Ancestor's Shadow - Cazrin increases the damage bonus of Sunny Disposition by 100% for each Fallbacks Champion and/or Good Champion in the formation, stacking multiplicatively.
  • Lost in the Library - Whenever a boss drops a Book, Cazrin collects 3 Books. The maximum number of Books she can collect during this adventure is tripled, but In Search of Knowledge's per Book damage boost to Sunny Disposition is reduced from 5% to 1.65%.

  • Signature Smell - When Uggie is with Cazrin, each damage increase that Uggie! would normally apply to other members of the formation instead applies to Cazrin herself, stacking multiplicatively.
  • Smell Mastery - When Uggie is with Cazrin, In Search of Knowledge's per-Book bonus for Sunny Disposition is increased by 100%.

Highharvestide returns on Wednesday, September 3. The first event of Year 9 introduces the latest Fallbacks Champion, Cazrin Varaith, brings a rework to the Year 4 Champion, Alyndra Sarrbarand, and features these new and returning Event Augments:

  • Augment 1: Extra Extra Benefits (New Augment)

    Description: To celebrate the 8th anniversary of Idle Champions, this event's Extra Benefits include Platinum in addition to Scales of Tiamat! You'll get 5 Platinum for every event variant of tier 2 or above that you have completed, and 10 Platinum for each Boon XP you've obtained.
  • Augment 2: Worth Waiting For (Returning Augment)

    Description: Completing tier 2+ variants for the reworked Champion and Champions in the flex slots unlocked with Time Gate Pieces or Boon Levels awards double Chests.
  • Augment 3: Auto-Blacksmith (Returning Augment)

    Description: Event Champions whose recruitment adventure or variants you complete gain common rarity equipment in all slots if they don't already have better. Every tier two or higher event variant completed automatically applies 100 Tiny Blacksmithing Contracts to the variant's Champion's equipment for free!
  • Augment 4: Boon Enhancements (Returning Augment)

    Description: An additional boon buff at each level increases the effect of Uggie's buff! Isn't he just the cutest little Otyugh!

Introducing Tales of the Champions


Well met!

Since Idle Champions first launched in Early Access, we have released a new campaign every year, starting with Tomb of Annihilation in 2017 and most recently with Vecna: Eve of Ruin in 2024.

For our 2025 campaign, we want to do something different. We went back to the drawing board, looking to make monthly campaign updates more exciting and eagerly anticipated. What we've created is more than a new campaign -- it's a celebration of Idle Champions and a way for us to show gratitude to our players by offering a plethora of new play rewards!

Introducing Tales of the Champions: a new original campaign of epic one-shot adventures dedicated to Champions that you will be able to unlock, gear up, and earn exclusive new rewards for, outside of Events! This campaign will unlock in the early game, at the same time as Tomb of Annihilation.

With Tales of the Champions, each adventure has a Focus Champion. Focus Champions are Event Champions who are key to the story and unlocked as part of these unique adventures (if you don't already own them). After their adventure is complete, three new variants will immediately become available. These variants are designed to teach - and challenge - mastery of that Champion. Completing them will earn unique rewards, from Champion Chests to new exclusive Feats and Skins that can only be earned through playing!

Now, let's talk about the first two adventures and their respective Focus Champions: Ezmerelda d'Avenir and Catti-brie!

[h2]Campaign: Tales of the Champions[/h2]

[h3]An Acquired Taste[/h3]
Focus Champion: Ezmerelda

Ezmerelda d'Avenir suffers the company of the one and only Volothamp Geddarm on an ill-advised trip to the mist-shrouded land of Barovia. Find out what surprises await them on this comedic romp through a deadly serious realm.

Reward: Ezmerelda Champion Unlock

[h3]Variant: Hunting For A Good Meal[/h3]
Ezmerelda and Volo travel to Barovia with a band of hunters.
  • Ezmerelda starts in the formation. She can be moved, but not removed.
  • Only Champions with the Hunter role (like Ezmerelda or Minsc) can deal damage. You can still use other Champions to tank, support, or heal, they just won't deal damage.
  • 1-2 Zombies loyal to Strahd spawn with each wave. They don't drop gold nor count towards quest progress.
  • Enemies have 1000% more health, but enemies that are a Favored Foe for any Champion take 400% additional damage.
  • Getting to know Idle Champions: Champions with the Hunter role usually have Favored Foes, granting your Champions an advantage against enemies of specific types.
  • Complete Area 250
  • Rewards: 4 Gold Ezmerelda Chests & 250 Corrupted Gems

[h3]Variant: Swimming in Debuff[/h3]
Ezmerelda and Volo travel to Barovia with some Debuff Champions.

Must have completed a Tier 2 Variant in an Event
  • Ezmerelda starts in the formation. She can be moved, but not removed.
  • You may only use Champions with the Debuff role.
  • Enemies without a debuff applied to them only take 1 damage from all attacks, move 400% faster, and deal 800% more damage.
  • Complete Area 600
  • Rewards: Ezmerelda's Monster Tracker Feat & 250 Corrupted Gems

[h3]Variant: Breaker Breaker[/h3]
Ezmerelda and Volo travel to Barovia for a critical quest to break something with an ogre

Must have completed a Tier 3 Variant in an Event
  • Ezmerelda starts in the formation. She can be moved, but not removed.
  • Champions without the Breaker role have their base damage permanently set to 1.
  • An ogre carrying a battering ram takes up 3 slots in the formation.
  • All boss enemies have 25 armored health if they don't have segmented or armored health already.
  • Strahd spawns as an extra boss in every boss area. He must also be defeated to progress.
  • Complete Area 1200
  • Rewards: Empyrean Ezmerelda Skin & 250 Corrupted Gems

[h3]The Ties That Bind[/h3]
Focus Champion: Catti-brie

Catti-brie and her fellow heroes of Icewind Dale must save Ten-Towns from draconic devastation! Drizzt, Bruenor, and the other legendary Companions of the Hall feature in this story about family, rivalry, misunderstandings, and vacations gone awry.

Reward: Catti-brie Champion Unlock

[h3]Variant: The Pugilists That Push[/h3]
Catti-brie and the other Companions of the Hall must save Ten-Towns from a wrathful dragon while knocking back foes.
  • Catti-brie starts in the formation. She can be moved, but not removed.
  • Enemies take significantly less damage the closer they get to the formation. Use Champions that knock back enemies to get around this problem!
  • Enemies have 1000% more health, but this buff is decreased by 100% for each Control Champion you have in your formation, stacking additively.
  • Getting to know Idle Champions: Some Champions with the Control role can push enemies away from the formation, protecting your front line.
  • Complete Area 250
  • Rewards: 4 Gold Catti-brie Chests & 250 Corrupted Gems

[h3]Variant: The Champions That Crit[/h3]
Catti-brie and the other Companions of the Hall must save Ten-Towns with some critical allies.

Must have completed a Tier 2 Variant in an Event
  • Catti-brie starts in the formation. She can be moved, but not removed.
  • Champions have an additional 20% critical hit chance.
  • Champions' normal attacks only deal damage when they are Critical Hits.
  • Two local residents join the formation to experience life as adventurers. They're a little battle-shy and don't attack or assist in any way.
  • Fire breath potions can't be used during the adventure, and click damage has no effect after area 50.
  • Complete Area 600
  • Rewards: Catti-brie's Master's Precision Feat & 250 Corrupted Gems

[h3]Variant: The Fodder That Fights[/h3]
Catti-brie and the other Companions of the Hall must save Ten-Towns with some expendable helpers.

Must have completed a Tier 3 Variant in an Event
  • Catti-brie starts in the formation. She can be moved, but not removed.
  • You may only use unaffiliated Champions and/or Companions of the Hall Champions.
  • Each unaffiliated Champion in the formation adds 1 Mithral Hall stack.
  • Every 75 areas, up to two random Champions are removed from the formation. They can't be used for the rest of the adventure. Champions from the Companions of the Hall affiliation are unaffected by this.
  • Fire breath potions can't be used during the adventure, and click damage has no effect after area 75.
  • Complete Area 1200
  • Rewards: Solar Scion Catti-brie Skin & 250 Corrupted Gems

Lazaapz's first invention was a functional mechanical arm to replace the one she was born without; now she leads an elite team of engineers in cutting-edge research and development. Following the discovery of a mysterious Eldritch Machine, Lazaapz was brought in by House Cannith to ascertain the purpose of the device. Stunning Gauntlet(melee) -Lazaapz attacks and stuns the nearest enemy. Every fifth attack, she uses her Grappling Fist to pull an enemy closer to her instead.
[/p][h3]Formation Abilities[/h3][p]
Fury of the Small - Lazaapz's posse is Champions that are from smaller species: dwarves, fairies, gnomes, goblins, halflings, kobolds, and/or plasmoids. Lazaapz increases the damage of her posse by 100% for each posse member in the formation, stacking multiplicatively.
Power Armor - Lazaapz has a set of Artificer Power Armor. She starts each area with 100 stacks of Power Armor. Damage taken by Lazaapz is decreased by a percentage equal to her current Power Armor stacks, but the armor consumes 1 stack of Power Armor each time she would take damage. Can not be decreased below 0.
Contingency Plan - When Lazaapz's Power Armor stacks reach 0, her armor sends out a massive shockwave, dealing 120 seconds of BUD damage to all enemies and pushing them back to the far side of the screen. Lazaapz then drops her shield and retreats to behind the formation, her armor shuts down, and she begins to repair it, taking 10 seconds for each time the armor has shut down in the current area (including this time). Upon finishing her work, she leaps back to her original location, knocking back any enemies that she encounters on her way, grabbing her shield, and refilling her Power Armor stacks to full.
Artificer Infusion - Lazaapz infuses the equipment of other Champions in the formation with her Artificer powers. Infused equipment has its item level increased by 125. The equipment slot that is affected is equal to each Champions' exact distance from Lazaapz, so for example adjacent Champions (1 slot away) have their slot 1 equipment infused, while Champions 2 slots away have their slot 2 equipment infused, and so on.
Shield of Sharn - Lazaapz increases the max health of all other Champions by 25% of her base max health and healing effects on all Champions are increased by 25%.

Fury of the Brawl - Lazaapz's posse now also includes Champions with a melee base attack and is buffed by 100% (post-stack).
Fury of the Cabal - Lazaapz's posse now also includes Evil Champions and is buffed by 150% (post-stack).
Fury of the Stall - Lazaapz's posse now also includes Champions with the Control role and is buffed by 150% (post-stack).

Guardian - Lazaapz gains the Debuff role and increases Power Armor's max stacks by 25. Lazaapz fires her gauntlet in a line each time she loses 25 Power Armor stacks. Enemies hit take 15 seconds of BUD damage, gain a debuff, and are knocked back. The debuff causes enemies to take 1000% extra damage from all sources, and stacks multiplicatively up to 5 times.
Infiltrator - The effect of Fury of the Small is increased by 5% for each missing stack of Power Armor, stacking multiplicatively, and when an enemy is defeated, Lazaapz regains one stack of Power Armor. She cannot exceed her maximum stacks this way.
