Melee Preview #3 - Electrostatic Spear

In our final preview of our upcoming Melee Update, we’re introducing the new Electrostatic Spear. Remember, you can preview the Melee Update in the Beta branch RIGHT NOW.

This futuristic electrostatic spear is another great tool in the melee arsenal. When dual-wielded, its range is extended, giving you a wider radius of attack.

You can also shoot electromagnetic projectiles that damage and stun enemies, giving you a versatile weapon for both up close combat and ranged fighting.

Melee Preview #2

Welcome to another preview of our upcoming Melee Update. We just published a fresh build, which you can try out RIGHT NOW in the Beta branch.

Today we will introduce our new melee weapon, the Throwing Daggers but first, here are our latest patch notes for the new Beta build.

Thanks to your continuous feedback and bug reports we could reproduce another bunch of annoying bugs and fix them. These include:
  • improvements and fixes for the melee weapons ⚔️
  • EMP Spear shouldn't disappear all of a sudden anymore
  • robots that lose all their hp should stay dead now 🤖
  • Turrets shouldn't explode anymore when you touch them gently with your melee weapons 🧨


[h3]An Annoying Bug![/h3]
We also tried to fix all the issues regarding the unlocks of our new melee class, the Reaper. We could fix most of the bugs, but there is one specific report that the task "Reach slums only with melee weapons" resets after starting a new round. We have not yet found the cause of this bug and ask for your help with this. If you experience this bug, please include as many details as possible in the bug report (and also include the logs). You can find these in the options (Options => Beta) but you have to enable it beforehand.



[h2]Throwing Daggers[/h2]
These beautiful daggers are perfect as a hybrid melee/range weapon. Daggers are imbued with the imprint of their owner and will always return automatically after being thrown.





You can deal additional poison damage by either throwing the daggers or performing surprise attacks on unsuspecting enemies.

Melee Update - Beta Preview 2

We're excited to announce a new udate for the melee update beta. Thanks to all the feedback and bugreports of our testers, we could identify and fix a lot of bugs and did some tweaks and changes to the melee weapons, so that melee combat feels better in general.

  • Fixes to the progression of the Reaper (unlocks now progress more reliably)
  • tweaked and added new sounds
  • more particle effects
  • improvements and fixes to existing rooms
  • the Reaper now has own unique gloves


There are still some issues we are working on, but we still wanted to give you a more stable version with the updated weapons, so you can give us more feedback on them. If you encounter an issue, feel free to report even if you did report the same issue before already.

Melee Update Preview - Plasma Katana

We're excited to announce our upcoming Melee Update! You can preview it NOW in the Beta Branch (more details at the bottom of this post).

Melee combat has been the #1 community-requested improvement to Sweet Surrender and we are excited to deliver a comprehensive melee-focused update. We’re in the final stages of playtesting and balancing this update.

To kick things off, we want to share some details on our new melee weapons: the Plasma Katana

[h2]Plasma Katana[/h2]
This beautiful re-imagination of the classic Katana adds a new dimension to Melee combat. Get up close and personal with the robots. You can charge up the plasma field for a short time to deal extra damage and deflect projectiles!

Update 7.1 - Sewers Hotfix

Hello everyone,

We just released a small hotfix for Sweet Surrenders latest update, addressing some of the most pressing issues, which some players have experienced. These include:
  • Issues with players spawning incorrectly at the start of levels
  • Fixes to the sewer ladders and adding ladders where they were needed
  • Adjustments to the items and enemies in the shooting range
  • Updates to enemy pathfinding

Full Patch Notes:
  • Fixed an issue where hologram enemies in the shooting range would sometimes drop upgrade chips
  • Fixed an issue that would cause the game to not load into levels when playing with LIV
  • Added ladders to some sewer rooms, which had pits players couldn’t escape from otherwise
  • Adjusted the acid grenade and removed the liquid acid grenade due to unintended behavior
  • Fixed an issue with players becoming stuck behind ladders when playing with the teleport falldown type
  • Fixed an issue that would allow players to take chips out of the homebase collection
  • Adjusted the skyboxes in some slum rooms to avoid players grappling out of bounds
  • Improved the pathfinding on the spider bomb bots around teleporter pads
  • Adjusted the spider gunner bot to better protect its weak spot while not vulnerable
  • Fixed an issue with teleporting over gaps while playing with the teleport falldown type
  • Fixed an issue with the level elevator getting stuck at the end of the industrial level
  • Adjusted some of the unlock requirements for grenadier class upgrades
  • Fixed an issue with controller bindings for Windows Mixed Reality
  • Fixed an issue where the trickshot chip would not work with some weapons
  • Fixed a bug that would incorrectly display the “empty” text next to full antidotes
  • Fixed an issue that had spider bots becoming stuck in the air after shooting them
  • Fixed an issue with some sewer rooms spawning chest in the acid pools, but no wheel to lower the acid
  • Improved the pathfinding on enemies, which were recently spawned by the spider bot hives
  • Fixed an issue with chip descriptions becoming visible while climbing ladders
  • Fixed an issue with weapon / item tooltips remaining on screen after gifting them to the tunnel digger robot
  • Fixed some issues with the German translation of the game
  • Fixed an issue with medkit stations sometimes not opening
