Stupid Bug

I just noticed from watching the Twitch video of Fingusa of the East that teammates no longer teleport when they get far away, which is an idea I stole from Arcanum: Of Steamwork and Magic Obscura (which also had terrible party pathfinding). This happened with a recent patch where I gave 3 party order options instead of 2. This will be fixed immediately. This guy's negative review all makes sense now.

Version 4.9B

I fixed one sound issue (there may be a 2nd), added more detail to the world (must start a new game for that), balanced the game a bit more, and fixed a couple of bugs. Complete list of fixes below.

SOURCE CODE:
-Raindrops now hidden in closeup dialogue windows.

SCRIPTS:
-Changed name in ammoSniperInit.bsl from "Sniper Rounds" to "50-Cal Rounds".
-Decreased price of Harbinger Sniper from 600 to 500 jink at Arsenal's shop in Loma Larga.
-Fixed bug where UBNS respect would decrease to 10 if you reload your initial save.
-Fixed problem with Pluto's AI on the Oil Platform.

RESOURCES:
-New object and texture: ruinsBrick.
-New object and texture: shelter2.
-New texture: tinWallC.dds.
-New "fail.wav" sound (old file format was weird).

STORY FILE: (requires starting a new game)
-Added new objects to world: ruinsBrick and shelter2.
-Added more ammo to the final map and a couple more items.
-Added descriptions for wooden crates and planks.
-Added some more trees and vegetation.

Progress Report

This post is to buy me another week before the next patch. Version 4.9B will be out next weekend to fix some final balancing issues and add some more detail to the world. Also I will try to fix those sound crashes, but I'll need some help testing for a few days.

Meanwhile, I am still working on Brigand: Panama. The release date will be some time in June. It will be about half the length of the original story, along with equal replayability.

Here are some old screenshots of Panama just to remind people:

Version 4.9

Next version is up. There are now 3 team orders: Regroup (team follows selected player), Defend (team does not follow), and Hold (team does not move whatsoever, but they still attack).

As for the accuracy balance, I just gave the currently-selected player +5 bonus to aim, nobody else. Scope zooming no longer gives a bonus to accuracy, as the magnification is bonus enough.

Another important fix is that I finally fixed that bug reported by multiple people where your party would leave and be replaced by "?" icons when you return to the plantation in Ch. 5.

Complete list of changes is below.

SOURCE CODE:
-Increased default firearm accuracy slightly (for currently-selected player only).
-Removed aiming bonus from scope zooming to compensate (magnification should be enough benefit).
-Changed team selection window, now 3 orders: regroup (follow player), defend (don't follow), and hold (no movement whatsoever).
-Fixed bug where "if_inParty" script boolean wouldn't work when moving to a new map (fixing Ch. 5 bug when returning to plantation).
-Fixed rare crash where attacking from above or below with a melee weapon would cause a crash.
-Scope zooming no longer allowed while swimming.

SCRIPTS:
-Increased bribe to Leon for the Pochutla password from 100 to 150 (encouraging player to find a better way into the city).
-Made it so only the current player can use tomes (fixing bug where teammates equipped with tome would bring up message window during fights).
-Increased loa skills in INIT script, Agility from 15 to 20 and Strength from 5 to 20 (loa are more deadly now).
-Carrion demons in upper level of Scumlands now have AICheckNoise set to 0 until Chapter 2.
-You can now sacrifice 50 jink at voodoo altars (instead of 100).
-Fixed bug where workers would not sell you yucca fruit.

RESOURCES:
-Update Player's Manual and Builder's Manual.

Accuracy Balance Test EXE

I'm gonna release a new version possibly next weekend, but lots of people complain about the skill balance (Pistols and Rifles being the best). So I just made a test EXE. It decreases the firearms skill bonuses by 25%, and doubles the base aiming. It also removes the small accuracy bonus with the scope (the magnification should be enough), and prevents scope zooming while swimming (which will be in the next patch regardless).

Just put the EXE in the game folder and run it. It's gonna also affect all the baddie accuracy as well, making their gun skill less important (but accuracy bonus for the guns themselves more important). I really don't have time to test out the entire game balance again, so lemme know if this is better or not for the next patch. I think it probably will be better.
