0.64 - Regular Update
Hello Survivors!
We’re thrilled to announce some significant updates that enhance your gameplay experience!
Full Unity 2022 usage
Switching from Unity 2020 to Unity 2022 brings a host of benefits that enhance both the development process and your gameplay experience. Unity 2022 introduces significant performance optimizations, leveraging modern hardware more efficiently for smoother gameplay and faster load times. Stability is improved with fewer crashes and enhanced error handling, ensuring a more reliable gaming experience.
By adopting Unity 2022, we’re not just future-proofing the game but also setting the stage for implementing more complex mechanics and immersive features in upcoming updates.
Remove partial controller support
Partial controller support has been removed to deliver a more polished and consistent experience. We understand that the mention of "Partial Controller Support" on the Steam page led to frustration for many players who expected full functionality. By addressing this, we aim to set clearer expectations and focus on delivering a smoother, frustration-free experience for everyone.
While we work towards implementing full controller support, you can still use a controller alongside the Steam Controller tool. However, we’ve removed the official "Partial Controller Support" statement from the Steam page to ensure clearer communication.
Remove multiplayer from Main menu
To set the right expectations, we’ve streamlined the main menu by temporarily removing the multiplayer option. While we’ve worked hard over the years to explore Co-Op multiplayer, we understand that its inclusion on the menu led many of you to purchase the game with this feature in mind, resulting in misplaced expectations.
New keybinding system
We've heard you! A new keybinding system is here, giving you more control over customizing your playstyle. While implementing this feature, we addressed several UI, logic, and binding issues to ensure smooth functionality.
Over the past months, we’ve meticulously tested every interaction in the game to bring you an improved keybinding system designed to feel more intuitive and natural.
With this update, all keybinds will reset to the new default system when you launch the game for the first time. We recommend starting a new game to experience the enhancements before customizing the keybinds to suit your preferences.
Future update content
Looking ahead, we’re excited to share a sneak peek of future updates. A brand-new virtual raft base rigidbody mechanic is on the horizon, promising even more immersive gameplay.
We understand how frustrating the long-standing "flying raft" and "sinking raft" bugs have been, and we sincerely appreciate your patience over the years. After continued efforts to find a solution, we’re excited to share that we’ve developed and tested a new rigidbody mechanic. This upgrade promises a smoother and more stable sailing experience, hopefully addressing these issues once and for all.
Stay tuned for more details, and as always, thank you for your continued support! Peter
