Patreon news

Hello everyone,

we would like to share exciting news with you.

We've had some requests for a Patreon page and after some consideration, we decided to go ahead with setting one up.

You can find the page here: www.patreon.com/g4gteam

Being a Patreon member is a way that you can support us to make the game better. We plan on using the funds to hire professionals to help us with major projects for the game (e.g. custom models, graphics, ...).

Game development is entering a really exciting place at the moment, with most of the behind the scenes (i.e. coding) stuff completed. We look forward to being able to show off some of the new and exciting content we have planned.

With the help of our community we are able to focus on game development efficiently and we believe that our Patreon campaign will help us achieve our goals faster and in higher quality.

Thank you to everyone who contributes to the development of Escape the Pacific!

Alpha 57.E1 Experimental - Internal engine update, New Islands, Pond&Muddy water

Hi everyone,

for this experimental build we were mainly focusing on updating the internal game engine and adding background functionality required for future features. On some new island you might also find a small Pond with muddy water. It is now possible to choose the properties of the starting island while we also introduce 2 new island types as well.

To switch between stable and experimental game builds make sure game properties in your Steam client are set to either "Experimental" or "None" (which is the stable branch)

During the Summer we managed to add and upgrade the internal engine parts which are necessary for adding new features in the future. There is also a new complex system for creating multiple biomes on islands which enables the ability to create islands with a couple of different biomes at once. For example Forest, Jungle, Grassy, Rocky Hills, Ponds and Swamps mixed. We will have a big amount of different islands that find their way into the game continually in the future - of course along with many new building ingredients and new features. The game's underlying base engine - Unity - was upgraded to a more recent engine version and therefore we also made sure there's a full new ocean system for you to enjoy.

It is now possible to override the world generator and choose the properties of the Starting island in a new dialog window which we'll expand with the new island types in future updates.

This new island generator's first introduction is the Archipelago small island group.

Another new island type is the Big Forest type, which - besides the new, taller trees - introduces the first "bigger" island topology. Later we'll have 2 even bigger ones.

Based on the new biome system, we also have added Ponds, along with muddy water mechanic. Ponds can sometimes and only be found hidden on the Big Forest type islands. For muddy water to become clean you would need to boil it. After that you are safe to drink it or use it in cooking recipes. Drinking Muddy water in its raw and unboiled state will still receive a health bonus but expect health issues.

On another note we have set up a Patreon page for those who wish to support game development even more. If you like our game and want to help development significantly, we look forward to and appreciate all your support for the game correspondingly. Find the link here to our Patreon site here: www.patreon.com/g4gteam

We will work also on solving new issues and will recheck some older issues too. Other new features will be added as implementing the planned features and fixing issues will allow us to.

Thank you for your patience and for your constructive feedbacks helping us to get rid of the issues as fast as is possible.

Do you like our game and want to help even more during development? We look forward to every positive review posted on our Steam page and thank everyone who decides to support us along the way!

Please be aware that during early access phase game code could change as much as affecting gameplay when loading/saving savegames from earlier versions. To always be on the safe side make sure to start a new game with each update. Thank you!

01.e) Raft flying

17. Fixed: Possible to enter manual Steering mode while not standing on Raft or swimming
18. Changed: Bug reporting functionality interacts with new external bug tracking system

With this version we take the internal behavior of how bugs are reported through the in-game function to the next level. Thanks to the creators of osTicket our bug reporting feature now automatically feeds into this system using its internal API. No more manually adding new bug reports to a list of bugs - instead because of improved workflow efficiency and the transparency we need is provided we save a lot of time that goes right into bug fixing and game development. Thanks also go out to Jonas Terhaar aka Kutie for lending a hand with the website code.

Because we cannot show you a screenshot from our productive environment, we still would like to show you what Escape the Pacific osTicket looks like based on our staging system:

We would like to thank you all for your support, bug reports and feedback.

Best regards,

G4GTeam.
