Warsim: The Realm of Aslona News

Another great and creative bunch of entries for the hero origin competition. It was a tough one but ultimately it went to u/Dragonovith for their great entry. They chose 'Warsim' as their prize (another great choice!) and selected Dwarf Names for the next competition. Congratulations again Dragonovith!



Come up with some cool names for Dwarves, I've put a list of all the ones we've already got down below.

Well I'm extremely impressed with the number of jokes we got in total, so many creative people (some of them even funny!) In the end the descision was unanimous and the winner was /u/rabidrab. Rab selected 'Blades of Time' as their prize and chose hero origin stories as the theme of the next challenge. Congratulations again RabidRab!



Come up with interesting short origin tales for characters you might find in the world as hirable heroes. Here's a few we have at the moment:

* I worked as a border guard between two warring nations, the things I saw I struggle to relive, I really do
* My past? I was brought to life by a wizard, he didn't tell me anything, my age is unknown to me, am I a real person brought to life or some wizard conjuration, hmm, perhaps I've said too much
* I was a mushroom picker, used to traverse many woodlands searching for mushrooms, of course in this time I had my fair share of trouble, marauders, goblins, thugs and fools, but I survived, picking mushrooms, some were good for healing, some eating, some for, other things
* I was a mine guard, used to make sure none of the miners stole any ore and that no outsiders tried to sneak in, boring job truth be told, the miners were good folk
* I was a sailor, saw a lot of waves in my life, a lot of storms, even pirates once or twice, an eventful life at sea
* I helped a short little goblin carry an enchanted bracelet to a mountain to dispose of it, we stopped a big evil from spreading into the land, you didn't hear about it?
* I do not have too interesting a story to tell I'm afraid
* I spent my youth in a village, boy I thought I was in for a boring life, our village got raided when I was around 13 years old, I tried to fight but I was enslaved instead, spent some years as a slave working in a mine, but with the help of others we revolted, as a free man I took to hunting slavers for a while, taking their ill-gotten gains and freeing their servants, gained a name for myself even

Come up with some jokes you might hear from a jester in Warsim's wacky fantasy world, generally these jokes should be shorter rather than long stories. Here's a few we've got at the moment:

* An elf and a man walk into a bar, the dwarf walks under it
* What do you call a goblin with an injured leg... a hobblin' goblin
* What do you call an average looking ogre?... Mediogre
* What's the best place to hit a holy man... in the temple
* Why do witches wear nametags?... to know which witch is which
* How do you get rid of a fat demon... you exorcise him
* What kind of jokes would a sad elf tell... elf-depreciating jokes
* What has two legs and bleeds? Half a goblin.
* What kind of goblin can jump higher than a mountain? All of them, mountains can't jump
* How do you escape from a halfling? Step on a chair.

A new edition to our community challenge is a panel of judges so it's not just my own choice! The new panel consists of TheGamingDictator, a vigarous bug eliminator and awesome moderator for our subreddit and Defender, a veteran player and contributor to Warsim from the Audiogames.net community.

In the most recent competition the panel voted unanimously for AlternateEnding's entries to the Tavern Dialogue competition. AlternateEnding chose 'The Darkness 2' as their prize and selected Hero Titles as the theme for todays competition. Congratulations once again AlternateEnding!



Come up with titles that would follow the name of the various characters that could occupy the world, it says 'Hero' titles but these don't have to be heroic. There are currently 1994 of these titles in the game but if you manage to get some that aren't already there I'll be impressed. (Here's the list of them all over on the Warsim Wiki)

So this one is definitely a bit more challenging than orc names, but just try to think of the sort of stuff you could hear in the tavern of this fantasy realm. * I've been far west, that goblin ale is weaker than a new born babe
