Update 0.8 - Rare Units and UI changes

Greetings Commanders!

This week, we'll release Mechabellum update 0.8, including a number of new features and balance changes to the game! We're aiming to release the update on April 4th, 8a.m. UTC. As always, the server will undergo a short maintenance while we patch the game.

Here's what you can expect this time!

Update 0.8.0: Rare Units and new UI

This patch brings a new UI look, rare units, some matchmaking changes, and some major changes to the unit drop system.

New UI Look:
We’re updating the look of the User Interface, to make it feel a bit more in line with the Mech fantasy of our games. This is just the first step of our UI overhaul process and we’ll continue to improve it in the future patches.

Matchmaking changes:
2v2 mode now has a separate MMR and MMR leaderboard.

Unit Drop System changes:
  • The players will now have to pay supplies for unit drops. Our intention with this change is to lower the power spike experienced by a lot of current players.
  • “Rare Units” will now appear in unit drops. More on them below.
Rare Units:
Rare Units will now appear in the unit drop system. The 0.8.0 update adds three of them, and more are coming in future patches. The three units added with this update are:

Sabertooth: A double-barrel tank with missile interceptor
Typhoon: A spider walker with 2 huge gatling guns.
Fire Badger: A fire-breathing tank.

Finally, we want to tell you about something new we're trying, in how we communicate with you - our players.

The Curator Program:
Starting this week, we're unveiling the Curator Program. We're contacted a few prominent Mechabellum players to test the 0.8 build ahead of time, and gave them permission to turn their experience into video content and streams!

It means you'll get to hear about your fellow players' experience with our upcoming updates, before or at the time of their release. We hope this will give you more time to adjust your strategies and prepare for Mechabellum's regularly evolving meta.

Keep an eye out on YouTube and Twitch in the coming few days, for some exciting Mechabellum content!
