Patch notes 19 January 2021

I've been neglecting to write patch notes for all of the patches over the past week. Today I made kind of a big change that might cause some of you to worry, so I thought I needed to explain this one.

The characters in your saved games may appear as though they no longer have their special abilities. That's because I changed the way their special ability tooltips get stored. The new system is a lot faster, simpler, and overall better. But it's not compatible with the old way the tooltips got stored. Your characters still have their abilities. It just doesn't show up on their character sheets. Any new abilities that you get will show up as intended.

As a result of the new ability tooltip system, if I update the tooltip for one ability, it will apply to all characters who have that ability. Before now, all the characters saved their own tooltips, which resulted in bloated saved game files and if I ever updated the tooltips, the saved characters did not receive the updated tooltip.

Besides that, here are some other recent significant changes:
  • Satsuma has NPCs in the daytime. Shops and nighttime NPCs still to come.
  • New sprite sheets and visual effects for several weapons, including Storm Crystal, Bottled Lightning, Windshot Bow, and Shoulder Cannon.
  • New crafting recipes.
  • Adjusted loot tables to include more drops for various recipes.


And we are still hard at work adding content and fixing bugs. We'll be back with more updates for you soon.

Patch notes 12 January 2021

Today's patches added the following:
  • Fixed bug that was preventing players from getting through the tutorial.
  • Set delay between using the "use" button to prevent spamming start of dialog or opening chests or doors.
  • All attacks and status effects go into a queue to prevent the game from opening too many popups at once. Hopefully this will finally fix the crash from Illusionist attacks.
  • Set a second gameplay script to check whether the Daily Chores quests should complete. Hopefully this will fix a bug that causes the game to proceed, but the quests to remain incomplete.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the game to return to a previous cutscene location if you beat the game, watch the epilogue, continue playing, save, and then load that saved game. If you have a saved game that loads onto the epilogue cutscene location, use the console command "ce CloseEpilogue" to return to the right location.

Patch notes 11 January 2021

Today's patch added the following:
  • Added thick monster hide and tough leather crafting recipe to the game. This makes a few impossible recipes now possible to create.
  • Reduced drop rates of most equipment about 20% to balance the increased resale prices.
  • Increased price of leather and other intermediate-step crafting materials, mostly to make them more valuable to process before selling to vendors.
  • Added assets for Storm Crystal. This alchemist weapon now has a new icon, sprite sheets, and attack particle effect.

Patch notes 10 January 2021

Today's patch added the following:
  • Fixed collision and added blocking areas to several maps to prevent falls and wandering out of the map
  • Vendor in Candle Keep Outpost now sells helmets
  • Bobo in the Imperial City tavern now sells knights at the correct price
  • Arcane Crystals now drop from more enemies more frequently
  • Returning to Halgdalir Outpost later in the game no longer triggers the same cutscene
  • Crafted dragons and juggernauts now start at higher levels
  • You can no longer access the pause menu during the movement and camera tutorial, which used to break the game


Thank you everyone for your continuing bug reports. I'll keep fixing issues as fast as I can. And I'll try to keep chugging along towards filling in more content.

Also, if any of you have a saved game where you can trigger one of these bugs:
  • Lances do not show up when you try to deploy them for battle
  • Cutscene triggers after you have already seen it
  • Dialog repeats or starts over when you press space bar

Patch notes 9 January 2021

Today's patch changed the following:
  • The amount of something in the player's inventory is now correctly shown in all of the different shop tabs.
  • Increased difficulty of the Grand Necropolis encounter. Increased spawn rate and starting number of defenders.
  • Removed tier 5 armor from Icy Reach, made it accessible later in the game.
  • Fixed lots of places where the player can fall out of the map in the outdoor Candle Keep Outpost level, both sides of Halgdalir Gate.
  • Looted wagons in the Northern Shore now have some loot remaining.
  • Added Mysterious Sausage recipe.
  • Hidden necromancy altar's top exit now easier to access.
  • Gave price to Hellfire Wand crafting recipe
  • Fixed Arcane Shard crafting recipe that had been showing up as Arcane Dust recipe.
  • Fishhook Village now loads as intended when receiving the appropriate quest.
  • Living Glad Raiment now has correct female sprite sheet.


And thank you to the community for continuing to point out bugs and other things that could be improved!

Edit: I just now uploaded another patch that should fix collision throughout the Icy Reach. You should no longer get caught on the stairs and under rocks. This might make it easier to fall out of the map throughout the game. I'll work on those problem areas as they appear.
