Winter Sale Presents: Biggest update ever + 20% OFF!!!
Hey NetherHO-HO-HOlics!
[p][/p][p]Since the release, we’ve been working non-stop to fix any new critical bug you pointed out through NetherWorld’s Steam Discussion Forum, social media, mail or Discord Community (thank you!!). As you probably saw, the game has been updated several times with these minor fixes, but we wanted to do something else:[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p][/p]
1) Winter Sale!
[p]It seems you’ve been a good kid, so why not enjoying more game content for less? From now until January 5th 2026,[/p]
NetherWorld is 20% off!
[p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
2) Update 3.16.4
[p]Just a discount? NAH! Here’s everything we’ve included in our biggest update so far:[/p]
 • [p]Expanded text effects system[/p][p]We've added (and created from scratch) TONS of new texts effects to highlight the emotions or just make the scene funnier (hope so).[/p][p][/p][p] [/p][p]Also, we've colored some NPC and item name mentions we missed in the launch version. [/p][p][/p]
 • [p]Minor localization and bug corrections[/p][p]We've focused on the Catalan localization, which had several errors displaying the correct dialogues during the second half of the game. [/p]
 • [p]Tick Joe minigame optimization[/p]
 • [p]Player movement improvements[/p][p]We fixed a little controller bug where Medoo's movement animation was reproduced before he started to move.[/p]
 • [p]SFX adjustments[/p][p]244 cinematics and a semi-open world always gives us the chance to improve the experience through the sfx, especially lowering the volume of some of them. [/p]
[p][/p][p]!! For those who are as nosy as Miss Garple, at the end of this update we’ll write AAALL (or most of) the noticeable changes made between Launch version (3.15.3) and 3.16.4.[/p][p][/p]
3) Remember, remember
[p]Forget the 5th of November, just remember that NOW you can play NetherWorld digitally with -20% discount here on Steam and on Nintendo Switch, but also its physical edition (game manual included) HERE! [/p][p][/p][p]Steam reviews are strongly welcome too![/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Aaaaand that's it for now!
[p]Hope you enjoy this weird adventure at its best (and cheapest!!), and please let us know your impressions if you play it! [/p][p][/p][p]As always, thanks so much for your support,[/p][p][/p][p]Hungry Pixel team[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
4) NOSY BONUS: Previous game updates
4.1) Technical stuff:
• [p]By Unity request, we updated the engine version to solve the security vulnerability that affected games and applications built on Unity versions 2017.1 and later.[/p]
 • [p]We fixed a compatibility problem with Intel graphics that made the game impossible to play in especific handheld consoles.[/p]
4.2) Design & Accessibility stuff:
• [p]Controller aiming improvement.[/p]
 • [p]Controller throwing improvement.[/p]
 • [p]Game economy balancing.[/p]
 • [p]We broadened the Accessible QTE Mode to Duel minigames too.[/p]
[p] [/p]
4.3) SFX stuff:
• [p]Lots of weird situations now sound weird as intended, but not due to sound bugs.[/p][p](e.g. Pinksburg Church's mysterious prisoner, Freddie's bed, orgy, E18 explosion, flamethrower) [/p]
 • [p]Cubick Party general sfx were adjusted to improve experience.[/p]
 • [p]Deumanville's bar door now has a sfx![/p]
[p] [/p]
4.4) Fights stuff:
• [p]We fixed an unfrequent but major bug during Saloon's fight.[/p]
 • [p]Bird vacuum submachine was nerfed.[/p]
 • [p]Some spoiler boss fights were balanced and optimized. [/p]
 • [p]The player could die twice during Angry Tree fight. Not anymore (we think dying once is enough).[/p]
[p] [/p]
4.5) Minigames stuff:
• [p]Duel minigames were adjusted visually so the opponent bullets actually hit you.[/p]
 • [p]Optional drinking minigames were fixed so the player didn't get stuck in a "Repeat the tournament until you win" loop anymore.[/p]
[p][/p]
4.6) Cinematics / Dialogues / Other stuff:
• [p]Blocking bug during "Get Cubick's magic dust" main quest was fixed.[/p]
 • [p]Two missing dialogues with White Wormbishop were added.[/p]
 • [p]Bugs related to some tutorials which didn't show up in certain situations were fixed.[/p]
 • [p]Wild Mordisco's cinematic entrance was polished.[/p]
 • [p]Bug where Mayo didn't move after her cinematic introduction was fixed.[/p]
 • [p]Wild Mordisco's rocks don't float anymore.[/p]
 • [p]Gregg's final cinematic was fixed.[/p]
 • [p]Old pervert Gus' bug made him freeze during a cinematic, stopping him from keep sniffing his dirty panties. Unfortunately, the bug was fixed. [/p]
 • [p]Cubick's hat item description bug was fixed.[/p]
 • [p]Dogstar bite launch parabola was improved.[/p]
 • [p]Some drinks weren't accessible at the new Deumanville bar (they're now).[/p]
 • [p]Deumanville's right scenario border dialogues were fixed so certain event is consistent with what actually happens in the story.[/p]
 • [p]Added Medoo's standing up animation during E1 cinematic. [/p]
[p][/p][p]Still reading this? Holy shit, thank you! Hope you play the game too! :D[/p]

Steam content rating categories: Is 0.51% “Frequent”?
Hey Netherholics!
[p][/p][p]How are you? Thanks for your amazing support since the release, and we’re so glad you’re enjoying the game! ːsteamhappyː[/p][p] [/p]
1) Steam content categories situation
[p][/p][p]As you may remember from previous updates, we delayed our official release on Steam one week because, in order to approve it, the platform made us upgrade 2 of our previous content rating categories:[/p]
 • [p]From “Some Nudity or Sexual Content” to “Frequent Nudity or Sexual Content”[/p]
 • [p]From just “General Mature Content” to “Frequent Violence or Gore”[/p]
[p][/p][p][/p]
1.1) Crossroads
[p][/p][p]We faced a difficult dilemma:[/p]
 • [p]On one hand, we considered the new categories didn’t match the current content of the game (0.51% of potential nudity or sexual content + 1.18% stuff that could be considered violent or “gore”… between black pixel non-human creatures).[/p]
[p][/p][p]One of NetherWorld's sex QTE minigame. We included a “NSFW filter” in game settings just in case Youtube or Twitch banned gameplays for that… It was not the case.[/p][p]  [/p]
 • [p]On the other hand, our release (Sept 12th) was planned between 2 indie monsters: Silksong (Sept 4th) and Hades II (Sept 25th). If Steam normally took 5 days to answer our messages, each feedback was getting us closer to Hades II, increasing the possibilities of being overshadowed even more by them.[/p]
[p][/p]
1.2) Decision
[p][/p][p]After talking to our publisher, we agreed to upgrade the required categories just to have the game approved and released to then, once out, continue our appeals to lower the content categories to the ones we already had.[/p][p] [/p][p]However, that decision was bad for visibility too:[/p]
 • [p]Having a “Frequent Nudity or Sexual Content” tag implies being considered something close to a porn/Adult Only Sexual game, so it makes your game disappear even from people who’s 18+ but has “no-porn” filters. We also know there’s people who had NetherWorld on their wishlist who didn’t receive any release notification.[/p]
 • [p]The game was also hidden from Steam main page; the game’s page asked to log in with a user account, all images and updates were blurred, and NetherWorld’s discussion forum was tagged as “Adult Only” even if our game was not considered that in the upgraded categories.[/p]
[p][/p][p][/p]
1.3) Conclusion
[p][/p][p]After 2 months of appeals, last week we finally received a (bittersweet) final answer:[/p]
 • [p]Remove “Frequent Violence or Gore” tag: YES.[/p]
 • [p]Remove “Frequent Nudity or Sexual Content” and keep only “Some Nudity or Sexual Content”: NOPE HONEY.[/p]
[p][/p][p]You can check your account preferences here: [/p][p]https://store.steampowered.com/account/preferences[/p][p][/p][p]After knowing Steam’s opinion, we ask the same question to you: Should a 0.51% of game content be considered “Frequent” or "Primarily" content?[/p][p][/p][p]We’ll be glad to hear your impressions about it![/p][p][/p]
2) Future ahead
[p][/p][p]After 9 years of development, it’s kinda sad to be in this situation. We created NetherWorld as an 18+ experience with sex, drugs and absurd/dark humor, but not as hardcore as Steam thinks it is lol. However, there’s not much more we can do rather than:[/p]
 • [p]Explaining the situation;[/p]
 • [p]Asking for your support if you think the game is worth it, and[/p]
 • [p]Letting people know NetherWorld as it is: a satire about life, love and how people face its darkest side to get through difficult situations. And, as life itself, sex is a part of it, but not its focus (unless the game was a brothel management simulator -it’s not-).[/p]
[p] [/p]
Despite this setback, we haven't stopped working on the game:

We’ll post an update soon with new content!
[p][/p][p][/p][p]Thanks so much for your support in this situation, and see you VERY soon![/p][p][/p][p]Hungry Pixel team[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Other stuff you may be interested in:
NetherWorld is NOT Out Yet, but we're close!
Hey Netherholics,
[p][/p][p]Today, Friday September 12, 2025, NetherWorld was scheduled to be launched on both Steam and Nintendo Switch by the time of this update.[/p][p][/p][p]Well, we have good news and not-that-good news:[/p][p][/p]
GOOD NEWS:
• [p]NetherWorld is out on Nintendo Switch! (digital and physical)[/p]
 • [p]NetherWorld Steam build is ready to be played, but*[/p]
[p][/p]
*NOT-THAT-GOOD-NEWS:
• [p]Although the game build is ready since 2-3 weeks ago (press has already enjoyed it!), we're having some issues with Steam final approval due to some necessary changes regarding Steam page content (e.g. some additions to content warnings) rather than the build itself.[/p]
 • [p]These requests were fulfilled the same day, but the wait for Steam's approval exceeded our time expectations.[/p]
 • [p]We fought all we could to maintain the release day and hour with the approval, but unfortunately it wasn't possible.[/p]
[p][/p][p]We're so sorry for the inconvenience, and promise you're gonna play this sh*t as soon as Steam lets us![/p][p]We'll let you know any progress about this matter.[/p][p][/p][p]Thanks for your patience![/p][p][/p][p]Hungry Pixel team[/p][p][/p]
