Dev News #169

Hello Feudalists,
While everyone enjoys the hot August sun, our team works tirelessly. This week we have released the “Breeders' Update”, which includes a list of community-awaited tweaks and features that significantly improves the domestic animals breeding mechanics. This update heavily affected all the graphical users interfaces of most animal husbandry buildings: stables, coops and etc. But first things first. Most importantly, we’ve added water consumption tracking to the most of these buildings. We hope that these improvements will make cattlemen work easier, as well as help new players with easier understanding of these mechanics. We have also improved Dung-o-meter in a way that it now shows the exact amount of items to be received when cleaning the stables.
This update’s improvements didn’t affect only the interface. With this patch we’ve introduced several horse training mechanics changes that should make life of horse breeders much easier. Required amount of time to complete horse training has been significantly decreased to catch up with already reduced maximum time of training. Another thing that we have reworked is Luck influence on Warhorse training skills. That means that being lucky enough you have a chance to speed up the training by 20%, same as it already works with different crafting skills. With this come good news for the most skilled masters - 100 Warhorse training now gives a +10 Luck bonus when training a horse.

Additionally, with this update we have released Fancy Breeder’s and Fancy Stonecutter’s Outfits. So now all cattle and miner dandies can show their fascinating look! New outfits are available in the Premium store.

And last but not the least - as we’ve announced in the previous devblog, with this update we have finally fixed the bug that prevented interactions with objects placed in certain areas of the outposts.
We hope that this recent patch and its tweaks will bring a little happiness to the lives of our cattlemen. Which profession should we attentively look into next? Share your thoughts with us!

And now it’s time for a community spot!
This week, we summed up the tense competition for the most creative recruitment announcement. We have received a lot of amazing creations, and the choice was not easy. As a result, having identified the contenders by the rating they typed, the top 5 finalists went to the finals, and all other participants received consolation prizes. But the most exciting part of the competition is yet to come! From August 23 to 29, we announce a user vote in which the finalists compete for the main prize. So it’s in your hands, good people of Godenland, to determine who is worthy of the set of scenery Sanctum of the Sleeper!

The winner will be determined by the sum of votes.

And to make it easier for you to decide who to vote for, we publish the glorious works of the finalists (in alphabetical order):

Patch Notes (0.25.24.0)

Good day, Feudalists!
This week brings you a “Breeders’ Update” - a bunch of tweaks and fixes very much awaited by our dedicated cattleman and suggested by the community at the latest AMA session. You may expect rework of luck for warhorse training, an update of the graphical user interface for stables as well as other breeders’ buildings and more! Also, this update will include the much-awaited fix for the issue with the inability to select objects in certain areas of outposts. Check the details in the patch notes below:

Patch Notes (ver. 0.25.24.0):

New Features and Tweaks:
  • Added water consumption level to Animal Husbandry GUI. Dung-o-meter now shows the exact amount of items to be received when cleaning the stables
Developer’s comment: this addition was needed for a while now to ease the understanding of the mechanics behind the Animal Lore skill. We plan on adjusting other interfaces as well to make them more informative, especially for the new players.
  • Decreased the time required to complete horse training
Developer’s comment: with the previous patch we’ve decreased the maximum time for warhorse training, but left out the actual time it takes to complete the training. We’ve caught up on that now.
  • Reworked Luck influence on Warhorse Training skill. Now, it will give a chance to have the training sped up by 20%.100 Warhorse Training gives a +10 Luck bonus when training a horse.
Developer’s comment: luck had no effect on Warhorse Training for a while now. We’ve decided to bring it up in line with other skills where luck gives a bonus to the time it takes to perform an ability.
  • Removed getting poisons from random events
Developer’s comment: we’ve decided that balance-wise giving such item through a random event is rather questionable.
  • Added new premium skins for Breeder’s and Stonecutter’s Outfits
Bug Fixes and Optimizations:
  • Optimized tunnel maintenance
  • Fixed a bug that prevented interactions with objects placed in certain areas of the outposts
  • Fixed Fief Fire’s disappearance when approaching an outpost
  • Fixed an issue with the horse age not being stored properly after using “Leave Horse” ability
  • Fixed an issue that prevented stables from being fully occupied by animals and loaded with supplies for them
  • Fixed a bug with durability calculation for items received in the result of a random event

Dev News #168

Hello Feudalists!
This week we kept making numerous tweaks and fixes based on ideas that we have gathered on AMA session recently. Currently, we are working on recently discovered and quite annoying problem with inability to fill stables to the maximum, which makes our breeders' work a bit harder. The root of this problem is quite complex, which is why we are taking some additional days before releasing the next update. You may expect it at the beginning of the next week. It will be kind of “Cattleman Update”, as it will also include new, more convenient, graphical interface for our domestic animal breeders. Also, this update will include much-awaited fix for the issue with inability to select objects in certain areas of outposts.

At the same time, our team is working on a series of other important improvements and bugfixes. As our current priority, we are solving a very important issue in the area of guild diplomacy - a sudden zeroing of guild standings to the neutral status. Our second focus is to decrease gameplay routine for our players: we are developing acceleration of horse training and working on general game design tweaks that will make game less grindy.

And now it’s time for a community spot!
We have good news for all of those who follow the development of the plot of a fascinating LiF lore based story written by Malton, the guild leader of Bad Idea. Continuation has been already published! This time we will plunge into an amazing story about hunter’s life. You can find Malton’s blog with his novel project “Life anew” [RU] under this link, and here we are publishing some (translated) thrilling fragments.

… — Well, guys, follow me! We are going hunting today, you have an hour to prepare yourselves. Take more supplies, because we are leaving for three days.

Preparations took almost two hours, I had to personally check and double-check everything for my trainees. At long last, we left the castle gates riding our horses. The sun was already going down. A light breeze came and brought the long-awaited cool. I took a deep breath and shook my head. Freedom, finally. I don’t like to be inside the castle walls, pressing with their stony silence. I feel much more comfortable and happier in the endless Abella forests.

    — Going one after another. And don't forget to twist your head. The hunter must see everything around him, feel the movement of air, hear the slopes of the grass. We must track down a lot of fowls, but also shouldn’t forget about the enemies, here is not an uninhabited land …

Also, last week near one of the villages of Godenland there was a noisy rural fair, which, according to old-timers, was visited by the mysterious Caravan Master. It was fun! Music sounded, warriors proved their courage in competitions, rivers of beer flowed! Crown is thankful for all fair participants who took part in the contests and brave guards who helped to deliver priceless cargo of beer, unharmed, to the event! We want to share the best shot from the event with you.

You can check the event’s album here.
If, after our story, you have come up with a brilliant idea for the event of your own, we will be very happy to help bring it to life! Just contact Catherine #3714, and tell us about the details!

We wish you a great Feudal weekend!

Dev News #167

Hello, Feudalists!
Although we don’t have an update this week, the dev team did not sit idly. Indeed, we keep working hard to improve and develop the quality of life in the feudal world. We are currently focused on several important fixed and tweaks, that you may expect for being released in the upcoming updates. Our foremost task right now is refining and improving clarity and convenience of user interfaces related to the domestic animals breeding. Besides that the team is working on fixing important issues with guilds’ diplomatic standings being reset. Also, we are currently solving a problem with targeting objects in certain areas of outposts.

This week we also investigated and analyzed the results of the lag compensation tweaks that we have introduced recently in the experimental mode on Arena. We want to thank everyone who took part in the testing of those improvements. We’ve gathered a lot of very valuable feedback, and now we’re working on the new iteration of the lag compensation tweaks. We want to say special thanks to player Tombo who recorded and sent us an invaluable material from the tests he performed. We are planning to launch new testing experiment when the next batch of lag compensation tweaks will be ready. Stay tuned for the news, and thank you for helping us in making Life is Feudal better!

According to your requests, our artists are working on the Healer War Banner skin. With this standard the healers will be more visible on the battlefield, this in turn will help save a lot of lives during the tough guild battles! Let us share the first screens with you (above).

Hear, hear, good people! This week we want to give new opportunity for all the glorious warriors and adventure seekers. We are happy to announce that the Caravan of the Crown will ride through Abella lands once again this weekend! Сrown organizing a fun rural fair in at the camp near the Protectorate. The celebration will begin on Saturday, August 10, 20:30 UTC. Take your friends, come to the fair to drink a glass of beer and take part in the fair activities! Guests are expected at the indicated time according to the following coordinates at the border of servers 58 and 70:

According to rumors, Caravan Master have prepared the following tasks and challenges for the visitors of the Fair:

Guard of the Caravan
Caravan and its Master have a long and not so easy route to cover, as the Crown ordered to deliver a valuable cargo of beer to a rural Fair. Unfortunately, in the dark and dense forests of Abella great number of wild animals have appeared. Worse than that, the Knools are rampaging, and marauding bandits often walk on the dusty path along where the caravan route lies. Therefore, Caravan Master is looking for brave and skilled warriors who will serve as guards, protecting the wagon from the dangers along the way and will help deliver booze to the fair! Worthy rewards guaranteed!

If you are brave enough to take this order, search for the Crown Wagon at the 20:00 UTC August 10 at the place indicated on the map in server 58:

Amusing fair fights
In order to entertain honest people, amusing fights on training weapons were announced at the fair. Rural fellows and noble sirs will have to show their boldness in fierce battles on a wooden log. The reward will find the worthy champion. May the strongest - and most agile - win!

Bushman Design Contest
The Master of the Caravan invites kind people to exercise not only in the art of combat, but also to demonstrate their thrift and creativity. The conditions of the competition are simple: contestants will have 15 minutes and an unlimited amount of materials for weaving bark boxes. The author of the most original art object will receive a valuable prize and the title of the best rural designer of the fair!

Abella Lore Quiz
And so that the sages and alchemists do not get bored at our village fair, we invite them to take part in a quiz on knowledge of the history and culture of Abella. Show off your sharp and brilliant mind and win the fight for a main prize. According to rumors, the prize is very worthwhile. The Caravan Master has a scroll containing the Knools’ secrets, but he is ready to give it only to someone wise and knowledgeable!

And now it’s time for a community spot!
First of all, we remind you that until August 12 you have an opportunity to take part in the competition for the most creative guild recruitment announcement and compete for the main prize - a decorator's kit pack for “Sanctum of the Sleeper”. We have already received several very bright, cool and creative recruitment announcements. Contest is still going on, so we won't uncover them for now, but you still have a chance to join the party and beat them all! We wish good luck to all participants! Hurry to check out the details!

Also, right now we are working on the new Wiki contributors program and invite everyone to take part in it. We will announce the details of the program in the next devblog, but all interested can already contact Catherine #3714 for more details!

And finally, we want to share the wonderful landscapes of Abella:

We wish you a great Feudal weekend!

Dev News #166

Hello, Feudalists!
As always, let’s start with the Development news. This week we have made some more visible changes that are another nod from us as a response to the feedback we gathered during the AMA. The update was heavily focused on your suggestions about crafting and farming. You will find a detailed report about the update in our patch notes.

Stonecutter's and Breeder's Outfits revealed in the devblog last week, are finally here. That means that our skilled miners and cattlemen can finally have their own professional clothes. You will be able to wear Stonecutter’s, Breeder’s, like any other Outfit, after reaching 60 points of T2 skill in their respective branch, and they will now also grant an “Inspired Work” effect. Stonecutter’s outfit increases Mining, Materials Processing, Precious Processing, and Jewelry skills. Breeder’s Outfit increases Hunting, Procuration, Animal Lore and Warhorse Training skills. You can find recipes for new working outfits in the Weaver’s Toolkit ‘weave’ crafting menu, same as for other working clothes.

Besides introducing new working outfits, as we mentioned above, this update was focused on a number of a community suggested crafting and farming tweaks. Let’s start with suggested tweaks about the time required for crafting. With this update, heating up items for smelting and brewing is now 2 times faster! Now, we hope that Breeders will be happy to know that with this update we fixed an annoying problem with pigs’ pregnancy and also that we have significantly reduced the time required for horse training. Wise alchemists can also expect some improvements in their daily routine — now your work will become much easier with the introduction of the auto-repeat option for your alchemical crafts Extracting rare ingredients from the domestic animals will now be easier as well, since this update included fix the bug with their drop. According to your feedback, we have doubled the capacity of containers for food and water in all animal husbandry buildings, except Large Stables. We keep on with the craft updates to reduce the amount of time such mundane tasks take in favor of a proper PvE action. That’s mean -— less routine, more fun!

One of the hottest topics discussed in the community this week are tweaks related to the Palisade Walls. According to the feedback we received on AMA we also nerfed Palisade Walls and few other wooden fortifications. Their resistance decreased from 400 to 150 as the cost-effectiveness of a wooden wall was way too high compared to other, more advanced types of fortifications. Our solution is to leave the price unchanged, but the damage resistance of these fortifications will be much lower, which will make it easier to destroy. The resistances of other defensive walls remain unchanged for now. We are convinced that this decision will lead to more fair and balanced in-game economics and defense mechanics, as such we don't plan to rollback the resistance of Palisade walls for now. But we take into consideration, that such sharp changes may be quite painful for some, so we will tend to introduce future tweaks in smother manner.

Well, what’s next, you wonder? We are going to reconsider Luck mechanics and we’re working on several other important fixes: dividing item stacks, optimization of animal containers (Coop, Barn, Stable). We plan to introduce these tweaks in the upcoming updates.

And now it’s time for a community spot!
Last week Coliseum opened its door for a new tournament. We are happy that guilds have put aside their differences and a lot of brave warriors participated in the contests. We congratulate these glorious and brave winners, and want to say special thanks to Mirti, Greenfire and the tournament team, who made a huge contribution to the organization of the event and continue to delight the feudal lords with new, exciting challenges!

In the fierce battle not only noble knights proved their combat skills. Village folks struck the audience with a stunning peasant shovel battle. We want to share the best moments of this tournament with you.
