Cursed Possessions | Update v0.5.1.0

[h2]Changes[/h2]
  • Foggy weather has been temporarily removed while we work on a new system and will return looking better than ever with the VR rework early next year
  • All Cursed Possessions will now only have
  • one* spawn point each, meaning only 6 spawns in total per map to learn. Finding them will be more intuitive too e.g. Summoning Circle found in basements or attics
  • In Prison, Asylum and School; Cursed Possessions will be placed only in the
  • first* room to make them more useful
  • Demon’s description has been updated to better reflect its weakness
  • The Yurei ability will now only close one door, instead of all of the doors near the ghost
  • Yurei should now stay in their room more reliably when smudged
  • Hantu will now always have Freezing Temps evidence guaranteed on Nightmare
  • The Hantu breath can no longer be seen when you are dead
  • Increased the maximum wander distance range slightly so ghosts don’t get trapped in larger rooms
  • Tarot cards are now easier to use in VR
  • Prison computers now change their colour to green when lights are on, and red when off
  • Adjusted the room number in main menu for Asylum as it was showing too many rooms
  • Candle smoke particles have been adjusted
  • Updated to the latest LIV SDK to fix a VR crash

  • You can no longer ask the ghost to play hide and seek with the Ouija board during a hunt
  • Voodoo Doll heart pins will now trigger the hunt instantly, instead of after the animation
  • Several improvements with how the ghost navigates to you during a hunt
  • Hantu’s freezing breath will now only be visible in freezing temperature rooms
  • The ghost can no longer choose Asylum hallways or staircases as it’s favourite room
  • The mirror’s view into the ghost’s room will now keep rotating instead of resetting each time you look at it
  • Several improvements to how the ghost wanders
  • Lowered the chance for the ghost to wander
  • The cursed possessions can no longer be used outside the location as there is no risk

  • Fixed a bug where the ghost was able to get far away from its room if it wandered multiple times in a row

  • Fixed a bug where a blue bucket’s handle was disappearing when you moved away from it

Phasmophobia adds voodoo doll, tarot deck, and other scare necessities




Phasmophobia is one of the best horror games ever made, a unique co-op experience that's loosely based on those American haunted house shows but amazingly inventive, surprising, and replayable with it. And scary! This game frightens the bejeesus out of me, but I keep coming back for that sweet hit of cold, panicked fear...

Phasmophobia adds Santa Claus ghost for the holiday season

Early access horror game sensation Phasmophobia keeps adding content regularly across 2021, including seasonal-appropriate fare like Halloween’s Nightmare update that added Slender Man. Christmas is no exception it seems, as sightings of a ghostly version of Santa Claus have recently been reported after the mysterious Cursed Possessions update happened recently.

The patch was teased a couple of weeks ago with some vague notes alluding to a Christmas [REDACTED] Update and a “strange new ghost type”. We weren’t sure what that meant until recently, when people started getting terrorized by the ghost of Santa Claus unexpectedly. Cursed Possessions also adds ghostly items to the game such as voodoo dolls, summoning circles, Ouija boards, and music boxes.

As the update indicates: "Several sightings have been noted of cursed objects, in locations where a ghost is haunting. These must be the cause of ghosts being trapped there. You might be able to use these to your advantage, but be careful, we don't know what they're capable of." Other sundry Christmas touches, such as holiday decorations and snowfall, are also now live in the game.

Phasmophobia update adds a "mysterious copycat" and undead Santa Claus

The Phasmophobia Cursed Possessions v0.5.0 update has now launched and alongside the titular items, the patch brings with it a new "elusive, mysterious, copycat ghost" - and a far more seasonal surprise. Be good for goodness sake, because Santa Claus has come to town.


Phasmophobia has been teasing its new Christmas update for a while now, with talk of Summoning Circles and even Tarot cards. The full Cursed Possessions update is out now, which brings Phasmophobia up to version 0.5.0 and adds five of these sanity-draining items that can help or hinder the player - including a Music Box that ghosts sing to, a Haunted Mirror, and a Tortured Voodoo Doll.


In a surprising move, Kinetic Games has also added a tricky new ghost-type called The Mimic, which the journal describes as an "elusive, mysterious, copycat ghost". It mirrors the traits of other spirits and other than Ghost Orbs there is no easy way to identify it - using the evidence provided it's more a matter of working out what it's not, which is extra hard with the new Nightmare difficulty.
