Patch notes 0.81 - Night upgrade

Greetings dinosaur hunters!

Here is the content of our latest patch. We’d like to hear your feedback, you can chat with us on Discord or give feedback straight in the game.
Night upgrade
Night time got a couple of updates: It’s now slightly shorter and illuminated by moonlight. So hunters now have more daytime for hunting and the night isn’t as punishing with light conditions.
New special location
New special location has been added: Temple ruins. Like with other special locations players can find Preton’s shop from this location.
Iron sight aiming
Aiming guns with iron sights is now much easier. Sights align better for precise aiming. This update affects pistols, revolvers and shotguns.
Bullet speed and drop
Bullet speed has been improved: Bullets now have higher initial speed, so they hit targets faster. Players will also notice less bullet drop.
Dinosaur AI
Herbivores now flee from carnivores. Dinosaurs stop fleeing once they think danger is over. Dinosaurs now have local avoidance so they won't clump together.
Clipping
Players no longer clip inside dinos when in close combat.
Multiplayer fixes
Overall synchronization of dinos and players was improved. Multiplayer servers now require matching game versions.

Thank you for reading and we look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Sneak Peek #1 - Dinosaur AI, biome, loot boxes and more

Greetings dinosaur hunters!

In this sneak peek article we will shed light on our future plans regarding the game. These improvements we plan to do in the next patches. Thank you all for the feedback you’ve given so far!

All the images you see in this post are work in progress images and are subject to change.
Dinosaur AI improvement
We want to give players more challenge and variance with dinosaur AI improvement. Dinosaurs will be able to sense players' presence a bit differently than they’ve done so far. Different species will behave more differently. Players’ actions will dictate more if a dinosaur is hostile towards the player or not. Dinosaur herd behavior will be improved so that members of a herd are more aware of other herd members' actions.
Biome & environment improvement
Plants and other elements will be improved to create more varying biomes. With this change players will be able to get more cover but they also might get surprised a bit easier by nearby dinosaurs. Environment will get more distinguished locations.
Loot boxes
Loot boxes will be added to the game. Players will find different items in loot boxes that will help with hunting.
Day and night cycle improvement
We are planning to slightly shorten the duration of night time. We are also planning to illuminate night time with constant moonlight.
Dinosaur tracking device
A dinosaur tracking device will be added. This will enable missions where players will need to find an individual dinosaur.
Velociraptors
Velociraptors will join the inhabitants of the island. They will strike fear into the hearts of players.

Multiple smaller improvements will also be introduced in the coming patches.

Thank you for reading and we look forward to hearing what your thoughts are on our plans. You can give us feedback here or join the discussion in our Discord.

Patch notes 0.80 - Hunting contracts rework

Greetings dinosaur hunters!

The Early Access release has been done and our team is now creating updates toward the complete game! From this patch notes article you’ll find what we have updated in the latest patch. We’d like to hear your feedback, you can chat with us in Discord or give feedback straight in the game.
Hunting contracts rework
Hunting contract mechanism has been reworked. Players can now activate new hunting contracts while they are anywhere in the map. Players no longer have to run to contract machines in special locations to get a new contract. Players can have three contracts active at the same time.

Players can access the contract menu whenever by pressing O. This will open a menu where players can activate a hunting contract. Activation happens in the same manner as before. The only difference in contracts is now players can’t first check what they have killed and activate a contract that matches the kills. All kills/tranquilizations must happen after contract activation to be eligible for the contract.

Once a player has completed one of his active contracts he can immediately go back to the contract menu and activate another contract. At starting level there are simultaneously three contracts available from which players can choose the one they’d like to do. New contracts will become available every four minutes. Players will get a notification once new contracts are available.

Each contract rewards players with experience and credits like they have done so far. But to redeem the rewards players need to get to one of the special locations and redeem the rewards using the Preton’s machines. There is no limit to how many contracts can be redeemed at the same time so players can spend a lot of their time on the field and after that head to one of the special locations to collect rewards.

Contracts have now been classified into three categories: Herbivores, carnivores and tranquilizations. Players can identify the different contract types immediately with their logos.
Players can have three active contracts they fulfill at same time. This is possible when a player chooses one contract from each of these three categories.

Killing dinos that are not part of your contract now gives experience and credits. This reward is smaller than the ones from contracts to motivate players toward contracts. To get this reward players have to claim their kills. This happens by going to the dinosaur's body and clicking “Claim kill”. You can also claim kills that have not been done by you. Getting rewards from these kills works in the same way as it does with the contracts: Head to one of the special locations and redeem using the Preton’s machines.

Rewards from hunting contracts and dinosaur kills have been adjusted to better match the difficulty of these contracts. In future we will add more contract types that give better rewards. These contracts will be harder to accomplish.
Player character grunts
Player character now grunts when he is hurt.
Movement fixes
Small slopes no longer cause players to slide downwards. Only bigger slopes get players to slide. This makes it easier to shoot from small slopes because any movement impacts accuracy. Also small movements cause less inaccuracy than before.
HUD ammo icons
Players now see more clearly in HUD which ammo currently equipped weapon is consuming.
Special locations
Special locations got new proper icons.
Tracking
Player gets notification when finding tracked dino corpse.
Small fixes
Adjusted some tree colliders that were too big.
Fixed bugs in item management systems.
Helicopter noise was lowered.

Quick patches

We released at the time of the early access release some small patches to the game. In these patches we have done the following updates:
Multiplayer private games
Players can now choose to create private games. Private games can only be joined by your Steam friends. They are not publicly listed in the “Join game” server list.

We also did changes to improve the multiplayer experience.

We will create a lot more patches after this one and we’d like to hear what you want see next in the game.

Prehistoric Hunt Dev Blog #11 - Closing in the Early Access release

Greetings dinosaur hunters!

Here is a larger blog post of our latest development progress while we prepare the game for Early Access release.

NEW GAME MENU

Game menu has got an improved visual look. A couple of functionality improvements were also introduced: From the top right corner players can check their current experience points, money, title and level. Options menu was improved to provide better usability.

MULTIPLAYER IN-GAME CHAT

Players can now chat in in-game chat. You can write a message by pressing Y. History of previous messages is also displayed on the screen.

MULTIPLAYER TEAMS

Players can now join teams in multiplayer sessions. This way you can see only where your team members are on the map. This makes it easier for players to coordinate hunting in their own group.

DINO ORGAN HIT VISUALS

The inspect screen now has internal organ images of all the dinosaurs. When inspecting a killed/tranquilized dinosaur players can now see more clearly in which parts they hit the dinosaurs.

MULTIPLAYER HIT ANALYSIS

Players can now see from killed or tranquilized dinosaurs which players have hit the dinosaurs in which areas. This is seen when inspecting a dinosaur.

DEATH SCREEN

The death screen got new visuals. The functionality is the same as with the old screen.

DINOSAUR SOUNDS

More sounds have been added to the dinosaurs. Walking and running sounds were also fixed as some dinos didn’t make any sounds when they were walking or the sounds were a bit off.

SCOPE VIEW

Players can now see a muzzle flash when they are using the scope view and shooting. Some guns also lacked reload sound while in scope view and now have gotten that.
