Devlog #36

Let's take a look at the history of Raygun Gadabout's Steam Banners.


The Steam page went live in 2018, and this was the first banner image. The character's name is Quinn (though she might not have had a name back then).


This is a second go at it. 2019! This pose is taken from a larger alternate image that might have been too busy? Dunno.




This is the alternate version. I like it. Shows the variety of weird alien baddies. But it might be a bit too busy.


Woah. Jump to 2021! Here we have something more action packed. Added in Quinn's buddy Winchester (or Winny for short) in the right corner. Logo was tweaked as well. This one version stuck around for quite a while. There're some modifications below.?




This one might have been up for a week or so. I liked the simplicity of it and the worn-out comic look which we see in the menus and UI in game. I still like it though. 😅


2023. A variation of the same banner from 2021. I updated Quinn's face, but I think her head looked better at an angle in the older versions.


2023-2024. Another variation of the original from way back in 2018. Quinn has a new head. I prefer her head more angled like in the previous versions.


Just for fun, this was a joke banner. Never was posted of course. The context of the joke is lost to me though. 😅



Here's one from 2024. This one never ended up on the Store Page but was instead used for the library art.


2024 as well. This is also a redesigned Winchester, he's cuter, not his usual screaming terrified self. đŸ˜±


2025 is here. Wow! Time flies. I have this sketch I made while doing some animation sometime last November. I thought it might be nice for.... another Banner! Omy.

Drum roll please. đŸ„đŸ„đŸ„đŸ„bada bada bada bada!



Here is it! The latest and hopefully the last. Though I admit it might be tweaked I'm happy with this one. We really get across the space adventure aspect of the game. I really like how flowy her dress is. The colours really pop. What do you think? Did I make the right choice? Thanks for reading about this little journey. It was fun.

It’s Marcel here for our monthly production update. Let’s get right to it.

[h2]Animation Updates
[/h2]

Been updating Quinn’s dodge roll animation, there’s now double the frames for double the rolling action!


What do you think of the hair animation? It was pretty fun to do!




[h2]Ledge Grab/Climb
[/h2]
Created a new ledge grab mechanic to save you from some deadly falls. At the moment it is unlocked with the wall jump. I’m considering whether it might be nice to have as a starting skill. Any thoughts? Share in the comments section below!




Dynamo 3 & Playtesting


Took part in Dynamo 3. Devs take turns presenting their game for 5 minutes. There were around 40+ people at the show and devs representing many different countries. After words there we set up the our games for some playtesting. Got some great feedback and had a lot of fun. Can’t wait to go to the next one!

Added Steam Cloud integration to the game. Now you can switch between devices and continue your adventure across the cosmos anywhere!

Raygun Gadabout Devlog #34

Hey Raygunners,

I'm excited to announce that the game has finally reached the feature complete stage. yaaaayyY!! ːsteamhappyː



What does this mean?

Well, we're not done. But now we can focus on art, polish and bug fixes, and just generally improving the game as much as possible. Of course, we'll need some help for this. So we'll be looking for people to playtest the game, help make it awesome.
