Alpha 26 Status Update + Future Updates

Since there was some confusion about the release date of Alpha 25, we just wanted to give you some information about the future update plans.

Alpha 26 is almost finished and the planned release date is the 1st December 2018.
The update will reimplement some of the missing Ancient Warfare 2 units. Beside that, there will be some new units, Steam Achievements, some smaller improvements and bug fixes.

Alpha 27 will be released one or two days before christmas with new content, improvements and bug fixes.
After that, there will be a two week development pause which we will use to create a public roadmap for 2019.

Alpha 25

Bug fixes
This is the list of bugs that have been fixed in all patches after Alpha 24 and in Alpha 25:
  • Fixed that custom units will show up in unit spawners (Planned as a feature in Alpha 26)
  • Fixed a bug that allowed object placement while editing the terrain
  • Fixed a bug that caused the ship control unit to disappear
  • Fixed a bug that caused picked up weapons to stop working
  • Fixed a bug that caused grenade units from spawners to not work correctly
  • Fixed a bug that allowed the player to reload rocket launcher twice and blow himself up
  • Fixed a bug that caused units in rivers to fly in some cases
  • Fixed a bug that caused horses to play the run animation while standing still
  • Fixed the horse saddle color
  • Fixed that custom units with viking helmets would not shoot
  • Fixed a bug that caused custom units to not attack the right targets
  • Fixed a bug that caused ship, vehicle and siege weapon control units to have their legs displaced
  • Fixed a bug that caused cannon balls to explode directly after they spawned
  • Fixed a bug that caused the ship cannon projectile settings to reset
  • Fixed a bug that allowed the placement of siege weapons on ships


Alpha 26
The todo list is very long and there are so many suggestions left. For alpha 26 it's planned to add missing units from Ancient Warfare 2, more siege units, suggested features and some things that were originally planned for Alpha 25. If there is still time left, I want to add steam achievements.
The trenches and some other things delayed the development plan.
However, the plan is to accelerate the development and push Alpha 26 at the end of this month and Alpha 27 before christmas.

Halloween Update + Alpha 25 Status Update

A small halloween update is now available!




Content:
  • Added a halloween biome
  • Added a few skeleton units
  • Added a chainsaw unit


Bug fixes:
  • Fixed a bug that allowed unit placement while editing the terrain
  • Fixed a bug that caused the ship control units to disappear if the 'dynamic sails' option has been disabled
  • Fixed a bug that caused weapons to stop working
  • Fixed that grenade units from spawners wouldn't throw grenades
  • Fixed a bug that caused rocket launchers to explode in some scenarios
  • Fixed a bug that caused flying units in rivers


Other:
  • Added a future shotgun
  • Enabled an experimental feature which allows units to use ladders


Alpha 25 status update

Alpha 25 is still in progress and it will need some more time until the release.
Below are some screenshots from a few new objects.

Modern houses:
There are 8 fully destructable suburban houses to create urban environments. There are also some other urban decoration objects planned.

New barricades
There are some new barricades and decorative objects to create something like a shooting range.

Trenches
This is the main reason why the update takes so long. This has been a highly requested feature, which is quite difficult to implement, but I'm on it and the progress is looking good so far.

Alpha 24

Alpha 24 is now available




Content additions:
  • Added some high culture horse units

Improvements & new features
  • Added an option for supply planes in custom battles
  • Added an option to choose the spawn points for conquest and KOTH
  • The default spawn areas are now being visualized in the editor
  • Added a search field for custom units
  • Added a search field for save files
  • Players can now fly planes and helicopters
  • Added a basic tutorial
    • The tutorial will explain the basic editor functions, player controls, war plane controls and helicopter controls.
  • UI improvements
    • Improved the random abttle UI in main menu
    • Improved the battle settings in editor
    • Improved the panel position if there are many units selected in the editor
  • Removed animation head movement in first person
  • Improved the ship landing
    • Ships will now land directly on the coast and no longer in shallow water to make it easier to create working landing maps with custom oceans
  • Updated the engine to fix some small lags caused by some physic interactions
  • Added descriptions for all objects and equipment


Weekly map competition:

  • The current topic and time left for the competition is being shown in the main menu

Bug fixes
  • Fixed missing armor on some units
  • Fixed wrong terrain shading on cancel edit mode

Next update:
Alpha 25 will be a content update. There is a lack of buildings and decorative objects in game which makes it bit difficult to build maps.
Also, I would like to continue fixing bugs and improve the stability of the game, so please continue reporting bugs and problems to the community hub.

  • The player will now pickup the bullets from guns on the ground

Next update
For Alpha 23, there were some other things planned, but I decided to add the missing 'High Culture' faction first.
With the next Alpha, I want to add more content and features (there are still many suggestions left), but I also want to work on the stability of the game, polish all things a bit and work towards the end of early access. This doesn't mean the end of development and new content, but the game and it's updates will be more polished and stable.
