Alpha 27

Alpha 27 is now available!




Content

New features & improvements
  • You can now look at things you want to pick up
  • Improved the look of projectile trails
  • Workshop items will show there whole description now
  • You can now cancel shotgun reloading with left click
  • Performance improvements
    • This update will improve the performance quite a lot and there are plans to continue to improve the performance in 2019.
    • There are major changes to physics and some other systems to improve the performance and stability. If you notice any problems related to physics, please report them in the community hub.
    • There is a new option in the settings called "Low RAM mode". The option is deactivated by default and it should stay deactivated to improve the performance. However, if you really need every single MB of RAM and you notice very high RAM usage, you can enable this option.
    • The performance is obviously different on any system, but with the new changes, test battles which ran with 30-40 fps in the alpha 26, will now run with 50-60 fps in alpha 27. However, the improvement depends on your system, but you should be able to create larger battles than before.


Bug-fixes
  • Fixed a bug that broke the custom unit editor then using an equipment filter
  • Fixed a bug that caused AI shotgun units to only reload one shot
  • Fixed that buildings created blood splashes
  • Fixed a bug that caused the camera to shake after selecting a unit to control


Next update
Alpha 28 will probably be released at the end of January 2019. There will be a development break until the beginning 2019.
In 2019 I want to continue to develop Ancient Warfare 3 and it is planned to give the community more insights about the current development. There is a new website in progress with a roadmap and there will be teasers on twitter during the development of an update.

  • Errors while loading a battle will no longer freeze the game. Instead the game will try to continue loading the battle and show the errors at the end of the process

Bug fixes:
  • Fixed a bug that caused weapons to cut body parts through armor
  • Fixed that siege weapons would animate movement while not moving

  • Fixed that crossbow units cancel their reload animation and shoot into the ground
  • Fixed that ship scatter cannons didn't work
  • Fixed some UI issues which occured on the first game start

  • Fixed a bug that caused flame grenades to continue doing damage without the flame animation
  • Fixed that deactivating friendly fire made the player invincible
  • Fixed that large zombies couldn't do damage to units
  • Fixed a bug that caused the player to get stuck in shooting range doors
  • Fixed a bug that caused vehicles to not do any damage with friendly fire disabled

Next update:
Alpha 27 will be released before christmas. It will contain new christmas content and probably a new wild west faction.

Alpha 26 Status Update + Future Updates

Since there was some confusion about the release date of Alpha 25, we just wanted to give you some information about the future update plans.

Alpha 26 is almost finished and the planned release date is the 1st December 2018.
The update will reimplement some of the missing Ancient Warfare 2 units. Beside that, there will be some new units, Steam Achievements, some smaller improvements and bug fixes.

Alpha 27 will be released one or two days before christmas with new content, improvements and bug fixes.
After that, there will be a two week development pause which we will use to create a public roadmap for 2019.

Alpha 26
The todo list is very long and there are so many suggestions left. For alpha 26 it's planned to add missing units from Ancient Warfare 2, more siege units, suggested features and some things that were originally planned for Alpha 25. If there is still time left, I want to add steam achievements.
The trenches and some other things delayed the development plan.
However, the plan is to accelerate the development and push Alpha 26 at the end of this month and Alpha 27 before christmas.

Halloween Update + Alpha 25 Status Update

A small halloween update is now available!




Content:

  • Fixed a bug that allowed unit placement while editing the terrain
  • Fixed a bug that caused the ship control units to disappear if the 'dynamic sails' option has been disabled

  • Fixed that grenade units from spawners wouldn't throw grenades
  • Fixed a bug that caused rocket launchers to explode in some scenarios
  • Fixed a bug that caused flying units in rivers


Other:
  • Added a future shotgun
  • Enabled an experimental feature which allows units to use ladders


Alpha 25 status update

Alpha 25 is still in progress and it will need some more time until the release.
Below are some screenshots from a few new objects.

Modern houses:
There are 8 fully destructable suburban houses to create urban environments. There are also some other urban decoration objects planned.

New barricades
There are some new barricades and decorative objects to create something like a shooting range.

Trenches
This is the main reason why the update takes so long. This has been a highly requested feature, which is quite difficult to implement, but I'm on it and the progress is looking good so far.
