Sign Up for the AlbionTV Community Event on March 21

Albion’s battlefields are about to get a little… experimental. On March 21 at 19 UTC, the AlbionTV crew is hosting a community event on the Albion Americas Test Server, bringing players together for a night of chaotic game modes, questionable strategies, and absolute nonsense:
 • Football Event: Split into teams and score goals by knocking the “ball” into the enemy team’s net. The ball is AlbionTV commentator Tazzik, who will likely regret agreeing to this
 • Hunger Games: Everyone starts with no gear and scrambles around the map to grab whatever they can find. Survive the first few seconds of absolute carnage and you might end up the last one standing
 • Armory Battle Royale: Use the Armory to assemble your most “absolutely unbeatable” build, then jump into a chaotic free-for-all to see if your masterpiece actually survives contact with other players
Head over to the AlbionTV Community Discord now to secure your spot. There are Gold and Premium rewards just for participating! Spots are limited, so sign up early if you want to join the madness.

If you’d rather skip the bruises, simply tune in to www.twitch.tv/albiononline this Saturday at 19 UTC and watch Tazzik spend the evening as sports equipment. The things AlbionTV does for its viewers…

Radiant Wilds Heralds a New Era on April 13

On April 13, Albion Online steps into a new era with the Radiant Wilds update. This release refreshes the world with a major visual overhaul, strengthens the game’s technical foundations, and introduces new tools and experiences designed to reshape how players explore, prepare, and compete. From the deepest forests to the highest mountains, the world of Albion is about to come alive like never before.
A World Renewed
At the heart of Radiant Wilds lies a major visual overhaul of the open world. From the moment you step onto Albion’s shores, the changes become clear, with each of Albion’s biomes refreshed with improved lighting, richer vegetation, enhanced ground textures, and completely reworked water visuals.

Stronger color grading, atmospheric effects, and drifting cloud shadows give each region a clearer identity while preserving Albion’s recognizable art style. From humid swamps to windswept steppes, every biome now feels more distinct and immersive. The roads of Albion may be familiar, but the journey through them is about to feel entirely new.
Powering the Future
This update also brings extensive technical improvements that strengthen the foundations of the game. Behind the scenes, performance optimizations improve stability and responsiveness, even during the largest battles. Visual effects and environmental elements load more efficiently, and UI indicators provide new ways to monitor connection health.

Controller support also takes a major step forward. Improved navigation, dedicated menus, and smarter targeting make playing Albion with a controller feel far more natural, opening the door to new ways of experiencing the world.
Sharpen Your Edge
Radiant Wilds provides a new tool for experimenting with builds and testing your combat skills. With the Armory, discovering effective equipment setups becomes easier than ever. By analyzing real gameplay data across different activities, the system highlights builds that are performing well, helping you explore new strategies and refine your playstyle.

The new 1v1 Arena offers structured solo PvP where every duel is a test of timing, tactics, and nerve, while a new Crystal Arena map provides new challenges and opportunities in 5v5 combat. Meanwhile, improvements to systems like the Destiny Board, looting, and mounted combat make everyday adventures smoother, clearer, and more rewarding.

Radiant Wilds marks a new chapter for Albion. A refreshed world, stronger foundations, and new ways to fight and experiment await. Ready to enter a radiant new era? Watch our Dev Talk about the visual overhaul, and visit the official update page to explore all features in more detail.

Dev Talk: Visual Overhaul

It isn’t long now until Albion Online’s next major content update arrives, and we can reveal its name: Radiant Wilds, arriving April 13. This update has at its core a broad visual overhaul of Albion’s open world, maintaining its characteristic style while giving it a fresher, more up-to-date look for veterans and new players alike. In this new Dev Talk, Game Director Moritz Bokelmann and Environment Artist Johannes Geier give you a first look at these changes.

Radiant Wilds promises to bring Albion Online up to a new visual standard, making it fresher but still familiar, and setting it up for the years ahead. It brings some significant changes to the way the game’s visuals work behind the scenes, with new lighting systems, a removal of some technical limitations, and new tools that allow changes to be made significantly faster.

From the moment you arrive on the shores of Albion, you can see the effects of these developments, including:
 • A new water shader system
 • Improved atmospheric lighting
 • Better colors and contrasts
 • New visual textures

Each biome has had its unique visuals enhanced, to make them more varied and immersive.
 • The strength of sunlight and intensity of colors has been increased
 • Cloud shadows help the world come alive
 • The sun is reflected by glittering snow, sand, and water

Improved textures make the world feel real and physical.
 • Ground textures feel uneven and messy – with mossy undergrowth, sandy dunes, and muddy marshes
 • The sky, clouds, and sun are reflected in the water and its ripples
 • Water feels cooling and refreshing in the Steppes, freezing cold in the Mountains, and dirty and muddy in the Swamps

New details further enhance the characteristics of each biome, for example:
 • New vegetation, such as cacti in the Steppes
 • Gusts of sand, snow, and pollen on the wind
 • Insects hiding in the grass

The new visuals also help Albion’s world align better with its character models, reflecting the vibrant colors and playful shapes of players and mobs.

Furthermore, we’re confident to say that this visual upgrade will not negatively impact performance. These changes have been tested extensively, and the game’s recommended system specifications are not changing with this update. In fact, with some broader client improvements in this update, you may in fact see better performance than before.

We’ll go into more detail on those performance changes, along with other new developments like the Armory, the 1v1 Arena, and Destiny Board changes, in our next Dev Talk. Until then, check out the official update page, and stay tuned for more!
