Former Fable devs reveal a new co-op RPG, then announce its development is on hold amid layoffs

The developers behind Fable card game spin-off Fable Fortune and the digital adaptation of dungeon-crawling board game Gloomhaven have revealed a new upcoming co-op RPG… only to announce at the same time that the upcoming game’s development has been put on pause amid layoffs at the studio and difficulty finding funding.

Polish language is finally available for everyone to enjoy Gloomhaven in!


[h3]BUGFIXES[/h3]
  • Network version is synchronized with all consoles. It should greatly smooth out crossplay.
  • Fixed desyncs in combat in crossplay multiplayer between PC and Consoles during performing action while other player scrolls initiative line
  • Fixed softlock in Multiplayer when client levels up mercenary and host gets rewards in Trainer in Guildmaster mode
  • Fixed Mana Potion incorrect behaviour when toggling on/off
  • Minor UI fixes

[h3]ADDITIONAL CHANGES[/h3]
  • We have officially merged the Mac branch with the default branch. This means that all Mac players will now be playing the latest version on the default branch alongside all other PC players. You should not notice any changes in gameplay as a result of this merge.

  • In addition, we will be closing the open beta branch on Thursday, January 18th at 11:00 AM CEST. This is because we now have a newer, more stable version of Gloomhaven available. Deleting the old beta branch will help to reduce the number of potential bugs that could occur from cross-versioning.

  • If you would like to keep playing the older version of Gloomhaven, you can still access it by staying on or switching to the "V28009" branch.

  • Please note that neither the "open beta" branch nor the "V28009" branch are compatible with the current and updated "default" branch. This means that you will not be able to switch back from the "open beta" branch nor the "V28009" branch to the default branch without losing your progress.

    • For those still playing on the open beta branch and willing to go to the V28009 branch to keep their saves, you will have to move your save FROM: C:\Users\username\AppData\LocalLow\FlamingFowlStudios\Gloomhaven\GloomSavesOpenBeta
      TO: C:\Users\username\AppData\LocalLow\FlamingFowlStudios\Gloomhaven\GloomSaves

    • To access the V28009 branch, follow these steps:

      1. Open the Steam client.
      2. Click on the "Library" tab.
      3. Right-click on "Gloomhaven" and select "Properties".
      4. Click on the "Betas" tab.
      5. In the "Beta participation" field, select "V28009".
      6. Click on the "Close" button.
      7. The game will now be updated to the "V28009" branch.

This update releases to PC and Mac (on Steam & GoG) while Xbox and Playstation players also get an update whose content will be shared both on our Discord, Twitter and Facebook pages.

We tackled many of the bugs you reported to us, so once again, we are thanking you for your help!
This update is rolling out on both the main branch and the mac_open_beta one.

Switch players were already one update ahead of everyone, so this update should put you all back on the same version and solve most of the cross-play issues you have been experiencing.




[h3]BUGFIXES[/h3]

  • Network version is synchronized with all consoles. It should greatly smooth out crossplay.
  • Fixed bug in Multiplayer in reward distribution after Scenario 84.
  • Fixed max amount of players that could join the session in Multiplayer during a scenario where there was no merc in play available for them.
    Developer note: The bug allowed a third player to join the session in an already started scenario where only 2 mercenaries were in play which caused a lock up until one of them leaves.
  • Now card abilities that allow mercenaries to set a trap allow player to Undo the ability selection.
  • Fixed bug with Gold pieces remaining in doorways after looting it.
  • Fixed bug that showed player after victory in Campaign scenario that a new perk was available when it wasn’t.
  • Minor UI fixes.
  • Triangles: Malleable Evocation - fixed work of Air consumption.
  • Cthulhu: when using the Grim Bargain top ability, now selection of enemies is shown on Confirm Targets.




[h3]ADDITIONAL INFO[/h3]

  • Polish language will be added in the next update!
  • If any XBS happen to be here, just a quick heads-up: on XBS, there's this occasional bug leading to random crashes (noticed recently). It seems to be an infrequent initialization glitch. If you face it, here is a quick fix: disconnect, restart the console, and relaunch the game.

Today, we're delivering another update for Steam, Epic, and GoG players.
Console updates are in the pipeline but require certification, so they'll be arriving at a different time.
We remain dedicated to swiftly improving the game and tackling additional bug fixes.




[h3]BUGFIXES[/h3]

  • Fixed bug that caused Could Not Set Character Positions when loading the save if there was activation of Demolitionist Mech Suit in Demolitionist alternative skin. Saves corrupted by that bug should load properly now
  • Fixed Battle Goal 'Opener' shown always as 1/1
  • Fixed bug that caused gold tile not to show hint if the enemy was killed with a trap
  • Fixed bug in Multiplayer in reward distribution after Scenario 84
  • Fixed bug in Multiplayer that caused a player to remain in session or having a duplicate of said player created even after exiting
  • Fixed UI issue that caused damage to mercenary to remain hidden until the Receive Damage button is hovered
  • Fixed desync in Multiplayer session that sometimes appeared when buying item from Merchant
  • Fixed softlock when the host tried to abandon quest after the client disconnected
  • Fixed desync in Multiplayer session that appeared when the player disconnected while taking damage
  • Fixed hint about Difficult or Hazardous terrain to be overlaid on character's info
  • Cthulhu: fixed bug that made impossible confirmation of Willing Sacrifice on gamepad input
  • Saw: fixed bug with Triage ability not accessible after two card actions were played


Note: due to the console works, some assets required some rework. This will not affect PC nor Mac versions, but structural differences affected the size of the patch, that's why this one is quite big.



[h3]USEFUL INFORMATION[/h3]

  • Some of your issues may be coming from mods not being updated for the newest version. Launching the game without mods might fix some of theses issues.

  • How to Join the Mac Open Beta:

    To access the Mac Open Beta branch, simply follow these steps:

    - Right-click on Gloomhaven in your Steam Library.
    - Select "Properties."
    - Navigate to the "BETAS" tab.
    - Choose "mac_open_beta" from the drop-down list.

    We invite you to create a backup save, as this version is still pretty early and rough.

    - And here for Mac:
