Witness the Power of the Elements!
The town crier approaches the town square, you stand up from your seat observing the comings and goings in Gloomhaven to find out what is happening. "Hear-ye hear-ye! Many new happenings have been occuring in Gloomhaven in recent times, adventurers and townfolk are advised to keep a watchful eye for strange new creations appearing—rumors state that these are the creations of members of our very own people!"
You muse to yourself that you would like to learn more about what these new creations are and if you may even be able to create your own inventions...the town crier cuts off your thought as he continues. "A new Mercenary has joined the town's registry and is ready for missions alongside even the most elite adventurers." You contemplate who this new Mercenary might be, and prepare yourself to check the town registry to learn more... "For more details on these happenings, be sure to read our updates on the towns news-board." You re-assess your priorities and first head to the news-board as it is on the way to the town hall.

If your interested in reading the entire patch notes, please see this forum thread: https://steamcommunity.com/app/780290/discussions/0/1643169167151064379/
There is a lot to go over today, so let's get started with the biggest point to discuss, the new Mercenary.
As we know that this is a hot-button topic for the entire community, the below information and reveal of the new Mercenary will be hidden below, under it's icon. If you are not afraid of spoilers, then click the black covered information below. If you want to remain spoiler free, until you have an opportunity to play the game, skip to the next section!

You have decided to brave this section of spoilers, so let's get down to the four cores of it: The Elementalist is now available in Gloomhaven!
Only watch this trailer if you are not afraid of spoilers:
[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
The Elementalist is a Savvas who has attained mastery over the four elements, Fire, Earth, Ice and Air. It is capable of manipulating the elements to an immense degree, generating and using elements of multiple varieties. Be prepared for a class that requires high levels of skill and preperation, capable of both healing and mass devastation!
Now onto another feature that that has been deployed in this patch we're sure is of interest to the entire community: Modding
Modding
Modding is an advanced feature of the game which we recommend that you learn more about before you start trying to use it. Do note that this is the very first implementation of modding and we will continue to develop, add to and change the functionality of this system. Modding is an important system for us and something we are taking great care with, so we appreciate any feedback on this system that you may have.
As a word of warning for anyone wanting to use it, do note that there are a high chance of bugs from incorrect YML creation, as well as a chance for corruption of Gloomhaven's data if used incorrectly. The Steam Workshop is integrated into this system to allow simple application of mods and is accessible only if you both own the game and use the "Play with mods" option. Do note as well that not many mods are currently available through the Steam Workshop at this time due to how new the feature is, this will continue to grow and develop over time.
We have several guides that are of use if you're interested in modding created by a member of the community, as well as by Craig from Flaming Fowl Studios:
While Modding will not allow you to implement new map tiles or character/enemy models, it does allow you to modify the existing rulesets and actions in the game to great effect through the editing of YML files. Several community members have already managed to create some cool mods, but take care as some might spoil future updates and content. We have also implemented a level editor into the game that is accessible in all branches of the game (Play without mods included), which allows you to create customized levels. There is some unreleased content coming in future updates in here, so we caution use of this as there are some stability issues with using this unreleased content and it also risks spoiling some content.
We look forward to everyone getting their hands on all of the new content in this patch!
Good luck in your battles, mercenaries!
