Colony Management Updates

We recently upgraded the player portal to OpenLayers 6 and added a feature that creates territories where multiple user colonies exist.

For example, Alphaville (to the east of the capital city Deois) has many farms, mines, townships, and an airfield. That territory is now considered Alphaville proper and the influence/size of the territory is based on the population.

Colonies that are within the same territory (partitioned by owner) enjoy the added benefit of shared/pooled resources. That means the old adjacent colony transfers system is gone! No more worrying about the mine right next to a farm starving to death! And now if someone lands at any of your colonies in the territory they will have access to load/unload/buy/sell commodities from the collective pool.

Soon you will also be able to change the buy/sell pricing, minimum (reserve) and maximum quantities for each commodity at the territory level through the portal.

We feel these changes enhance the gameplay by minimizing micromanagement needed for colonies so you can concentrate on flying!

Happy Holidays from your friends at Rise!

Once again, we find ourselves smack in the middle of the holiday season. All of us here at Rise want to wish you a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, Joyous Winter Solstice, Happy Festivus, and for those of you that prefer it - Happy Holidays.

As the year comes to an end it is always a good thing to look back over the year and see what improvements we made. This year has brought many changes to Rise including our debut on Steam, a new website, new terrain, new ships (Manx and Stratomaster), addition of the contracts system, new cockpits, seasonal effects... the list of improvements goes on and on.

Looking forward to next year we hope to bring another space station on-line, but this one will be built from the ground up. This planned method of building means that players will be hired to run materials up to the station. Over the months (or years) of construction the station will keep getting larger and more complex. There are also some planned experiments with adding VR to Rise. Adding more features to the player portal will allow players to manage colonies entirely from a web browser.

Ultimately, 2019 has been a hard year for many. We take time to wish for peace for mankind in the new year coming. Rise has always been a look at what we believe mankind can do in the future once we take to the stars. We should all take the time to do something in our lives to help us all reach that goal. That goal is why we continue to work with Unistellar Optics to inspire young minds to look to the heavens and dream of what could be.

Since the entire development team here at Rise is from a Judeo-Christian background we will once again wish you and your family Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy Holidays. On behalf of the entire development staff and contractors of Rise - we thank you.

An "Explosive" Update

After months of research and reading theoretical mathematics papers explaining how explosions propagate through open air we now have added the realistic explosion of the “Longarm" Missiles, the “Munitions" cargo container, and the "Auxiliary Fuel" container.

The Longarms have been determined to each have an equivalent yield of 570 kg of TNT.

Munitions containers explode with a yield based on the quantity of Longarms they are carrying.

An Auxilary Fuel container that is full and dropped from height or shot with a Longarm will explode with an equivalent yield of 745 MT of TNT

While working on the Longarm explosive payload the question was asked “How much damage will 12 kg of Iagreous fuel do?”. We then took the MJ/kg and converted the energy to kg of TNT. Approximately 15 minutes into the yield calculations someone asked “What happens if you explode a full Auxiliary Fuel container?” That brought out how dangerous it would be to shoot a full Auxiliary Fuel container.

The next steps will be to move and toss the offline vehicles affected by the explosions as well as calculate impacts between two vehicles.

Annual Spooky Content

Above is a photo from last year's Halloween content. If you were sitting on the ground for more than 15 seconds and happened to be looking away from this window you would hear the bloodied hand streak across the window and this mark would be with your vehicle for a while unless you flew it into the clouds to rince it off or did a reentry to burn it off!
