Update 1.5.8 - A New Beginning

Hi, friends!

I have some good news! There's a new update out for the game? This time around we wanted to take a step back and look at our new player experience. We've added a LOT of stuff since our tutorial and thought it could definitely use some work. So we just made a new one!

We've also packed in a ton of improvements, bug fixes and more!

Enjoy the update and here are your patch notes:

New:
  • A whole new tutorial to make learning the game easier and more engaging
  • Two new wall art furniture pieces sold in Sleepy Haven
  • Arrow Barrel resource to pick up free arrows - these give arrows based on the zone you are in
  • A new weapon found in the tutorial
  • A new trinket found in the tutorial
Improved:
  • Laurel at the Shrubrian Village now sells more companion snacks
  • Adjusted a ladder that was difficult to climb
  • Clyde’s dialog reflects the new tutorial
  • Improved Dave’s quest
  • Improved Kristin’s quest - no longer an actual quest
  • Various lighting updates in Sleepy Haven
  • A performance pass through Azura
  • Shrubrian Lamp now has fireflies in it
  • Placeable trees and other plants now have the correct foliage to match the current season
  • PvP flag is back - When entering a PvP zone you’ll have a PvP icon appear on your HUD. When leaving the zone a timer will indicate that you're still in PvP for 5 seconds.
  • Shield bash now works on all shields
  • Various axes now have the correct combo animations
  • Druid Temple puzzle has better solution clues
  • Major improvements to shield bash
  • Campfires have sound again!
Fixed:
  • Potions now sit correctly on vanishing display plates
  • Fixed an issue where the loot from Dellan’s Cache could end up falling through the floor
  • Tomek's twin brother headed back home after the holiday.
  • Solved the case of the mysterious stick randomly appearing on your back
  • Gatekeeper now appropriately distributes loot to only players in the fight
  • New characters will no longer end up in the wrong outfits
Removed:
  • Doug’s Quests
  • Sen’s original quests
  • The sun door on Castaway Rock
  • Clyde’s glider quest and missing notes

Development Digest November 4th - 11th

Hey! Long time no chat. Happy Friday, friends!

We've been getting all these updates and patches out that has all our updates it in, but now I can finally post about some new stuff!

We'll be doing a small update this month with some quality of life things. Wendy and I have been working on some small optimization things in the whole world. DD has been working on fixing up some of our Azura quests that were created when the game first launched. Way back then (two whole years ago!) we only had less than a handful of ways to make a quest. They needed some updating. He won't be able to touch all of the quests, but he'll get through a bit of them to update. Jesse has been working on our Tinker Town, which still needs an official name, and planning that out. I should have some sneak peeks in the coming weeks.

Louis has been playing with the tinkering system and also fixing bugs with the magic system and various other bugs. He's been playing with that shield bash that was mentioned in the last patch.



Michael has been working on something completely new. This is actually the main reason for the quality of life update. I know you want me to spoil it, but I won't! The team has talked about it on their Twitch streams, so if you've caught one of those, you may know what I'm talking about.

The most asked question currently is:
When will Frostfall arrive?
Well I have that news! December 22nd at 10am PST. It will be a two week event, just like Witch's Eve was, so it will end on January 5th at 10am PST. This will be our third annual Frostfall event and we may have some other fun things planned to accompany the update.



As for our community play through events, I've scheduled Novembers to be on the 19th at 5pm PST and Decembers with be on the 31st at 11am PST. These will both be held on the official Kindred Games US server. Feel free to pop in and say hello or join us on Discord in our voice call to chat and play.

Update 1.5.7

Hey there. Just a very small patch to fix the missing crab cave and introduce a new mechanic we've mostly finalized.

Patch notes:

New:
  • Shield bash mechanic - Hold the shield up and use the alternate hand to perform a shield bash
Improved:
  • Did a small optimization pass around Azura to help loading times
Fixed:
  • Crabs have returned and their teleportation technology has been confiscated

Update 1.5.6

Witch's Eve is all wrapped up! We're excited to start preparations for our next holiday event, Frostfall. Like earlier this year, we're working on another quality of life update to clean up some mechanics, fix a handful of bugs, wrangle some performance issues and more.

You can expect this update later this month.

Now on to the patch notes:


Improved:
  • Multiplayer healthbars now show up when near for healers to heal their party
  • Multiplayer healthbars now animates like a heartbeat if someone is under 20% health
  • Toggle HUD now properly toggles other player’s healthbars
  • Melee attacks not working well on Windless Woods boss now improved
  • Slightly increased staff's tap/hold distinction time for casting spells/performing basic attack
  • Controller issue with build mode rotating
  • Hide property marker now saves between sessions
  • Kristin has properly lost her glasses again
  • Chef’s Cellar now properly displays as Windless Woods for the quest zone
  • When taking ingredients out of a cauldron, taking the ingredient on the right will now actually take that ingredient and not the other one
  • Another performance pass through Sleepy Haven
Fixed:
  • Various backpack descriptions that incorrectly said how many items it holds
  • Druid Chair furniture item now displays a chair as the icon
  • Various floating items where the new Sawmills were placed
  • Luck potions are craftable again - Instead of two of the same item, it now takes two different items
  • If you do not have enough money, you can now look at housing blueprint plans
  • Sawmill no longer displays “bellows” when you look at the crank
  • Can now pickup Sawmills that you placed on your plot
  • Purified Wand now heals other players
  • Bandit Betrayal quest now works as intended
  • Abandoning Pesky Ghost will restart correctly

Happy Witch's Eve! We hope everyone's been enjoying the festivities so far. It seems we let a few bugs slip through the cracks so here's a patch to squash them, finally.

And I couldn't let a patch go out without adding SOMETHING new, so I whipped up the new sawmill we've been meaning to get in since launch. Don't worry, your existing crafting recipes for planks are still intact for the time being, but when Witch's Eve ends they'll be removed.



New:
  • Sawmill - allows you to turn logs into planks from any level
  • Sawmill placeable item - learn at level 10 carpentry
  • New placeable chest sold in the Eyre furniture shop
Improved:
  • Witch’s Eve music is now playing in town
  • Storm Cloud now has a sound effect
  • Output rate of using the bellows on all processors
  • Hexed Mask shows in Collections now (may need to drop item on ground and pick back up to register)
  • Smashable pots in the graveyard are now giving Farmlands loot and not Azura loot
  • More controller and input settings improvements
  • Healing Burst Tome now properly heals
  • Shop items can no longer be interacted with at the same time as other players
  • Staves and wands sheathing
  • More controller improvements
  • Necrotic Prism trinket improvements
  • Added more Anchor Shrines in Farmlands
Fixed:
  • Candy disappearing between sessions from your inventory

  • Can no longer plant everywhere you’d like
  • Honeysmith sign in the Shrubrian Village is not floating anymore
