Free Update #21 - Decorations | Coming to Steam on September 3rd!

Hello, Adventurers!

We’re proud to announce that the last - 21st Free Update for Green Hell, titled “Decorations”, is coming to Steam on September 3rd!

The entire team had so much fun while creating this update. We were constantly giving each other new ideas about what could also be added to it, that in its final form there’s so much new stuff to play with!

See the trailer for it down below:

Our adventure with Green Hell comes to an end with this free content update. Next Thursday the game will be celebrating its 5th anniversary - it’s already five years since the release of the 1.0 version, published back on the 5th of September 2019. Throughout this time we’ve released over hundreds of game updates and twenty free content updates, which hugely expanded the game’s mechanics and story. And now - with teary eyes - we’ve decided to publish one more - the final update to the game and make the Green Hell experience complete.

The game won’t be getting any more new content updates on PC, but it will still be supported by our team.

We’re super grateful for your support throughout the years, the feedback you’ve been providing us with, the stories you’ve told us about your experience, and the adventures you’ve lived in the game, fueled us to provide you even more opportunities to craft new stories and have even more adventures in Green Hell.

Now it’s time for us to have another adventure for you - the whole team is now working hard on our next big title, which development is hugely influenced by the stuff we’ve learned during the creation of Green Hell, and the things you’ve told us you loved about it. We will see you soon in our own sci-fi universe, in StarRupture.

Yours truly,
Creepy Jar Team

StarRupture Gameplay Reveal!

Hi, everyone!

We’re very proud to show you for the very first time real gameplay from our upcoming FPP base-builder StarRupture!

In the trailer, you’re gonna see an early glimpse of some of the combat and defense mechanics. You will also see the scale of some of the dangers you will encounter in StarRupture - such as the deadly waves of monster enemies, and most importantly - the Ruptura Star explosion, which scorches the planet’s land with a deadly wave of fire and a blast of (maybe quite important?) meteorites.

Jump into action in the teaser below:
[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]Everything you see in the video was live-captured from an early build on PC.

StarRupture has three main gameplay pillars—base-building, exploration, and combat—and this action-packed trailer, taken from an early build, gives you a look at the pulse-pounding combat you’ll face in their bid for survival.

Set in the far future, humanity has gone to the stars in search for precious resources. And the planet orbiting our namesake star, Ruptura, while being a resource-rich open world is also rife with dangers.

In the teaser clip, you see our lone explorer face off against hordes of enemies charging a custom-built base. If that isn’t enough, our exploding star is mere minutes from releasing an apocalyptic fire wave on the planet’s surface.

All of our fighter’s vitals are looking good, but we're not forgetting our roots in survival and eagle-eyed viewers will notice not only the health and armour stats for our player/character, but also the thirst, toxicity, and hunger levels, as well.

Utilizing collected resources to create ammunition to load turrets as one line of defense, the player is valiantly attempting to protect a base under a full-scale assault and there’s no time to waste.

As enemies make their way to destroy the base’s wind farm and storage buildings, a split-second decision is made to protect smelters and crafting pods from a terrifying new enemy assault on the other side of the base.

While automated drones are busy zipping around their elevated tracks to deliver resources from location to location, the enemy assault becomes all but overwhelming.
Making matters worse, our soldier looks up to see Ruptura ready to unleash its fiery blaze. With no time left to lose, the race is on to get to safety… but will he make it in time?

StarRupture sets itself in the story of man versus nature taking place in an otherworldly and breathtaking sci-fi environment where elemental cataclysms of extreme temperatures loom as a constant danger.

The player takes up the mantle of a convict exiled from the Earth to serve their sentence by mining and expanding industrial production alongside researching new technology on a seemingly hospitable new planet rife with mystery and danger. Tasked with surviving the deadly waves of elements—not to mention facing down against hostile enemy monsters in tense combat—each cycle spells destruction yet ushers in a new era of growth and rebuilding.

Played from a first-person perspective—adventuring solo or as part of an up-to-4-player group in co-op mode—players will be able to explore, adapt, mine, gather resources, and build complex machinery to survive and prosper.

Though by definition it is a base-building simulator, StarRupture is much more. The game will invite players to push beyond, to stay resilient and sharp against every assault, building and forming prior to the cycling eviscerating conditions on an otherwise beautiful planet.

For fans of builders, management, sci-fi action, and combat StarRupture will challenge all comers to utilize the technology at their fingertips and weather both the extremities and fierce enemies in order to survive and create a prosperous industrial complex.

Free Update #20 - Anteater | Available Now!

Hello Adventurers,

Today is the day! We are proud to announce that the Free Update #20 for Green Hell - "Anteater" is available now!

The name of our latest free update hides many more new & fresh features than the name might suggest. Alongside having added new animals to your Animal Pen, we’ve prepared a bunch of cool mechanics and enhancements to the rest of the game. See the Anteater in action in the newest trailer, and if you’d like to dive into the update’s details - see the notes below.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
New animal: Giant Anteater
The most exciting part of this update is the Giant Anteater. Some call him amusing, some think he’s cute, but he can be very aggressive - so you need to watch out!
Naturally, you will be able to find this beast near anthills. He’s usually shy and will try to avoid you, but when threatened - he will not hesitate to use his claws to protect himself and might deal you great damage.
New mechanic: Spawning anthills
You may remember anthills from Green Hell before, stepping inside them and getting those pesky ants crawling all over you, or collecting the ants to mend your laceration wounds. But now, anthills may also serve as your guidepost to the place anteaters hang out most.

Until now, the only thing you could have done is either avoid or harvest an anthill. But now you can also destroy them! Destroying an anthill won’t provide you with more ants, but if you find an anthill standing in your way to build something, or if it blocks your path and you keep bumping into it, you will be able to remove it. Don’t worry, though; ants will always find a new spot to build a new house for their colony, so from now on a new anthill will soon appear in a nearby area. With some more animals looking for them, including the infamous anteater and… an armadillo?!
New mechanic: New animals in your animal pen
The Animal Husbandry update introduced the ability to breed some of the animal species from the jungle. Now, we are adding even more animals to your menagerie, as you will be able to breed Armadillos, Three-banded Armadillos, and - of course - Giant Anteaters!
New construction: Composter
Thanks to this simple construction you will be able to dispose of such things as rotten meat, spoiled food, leaves, animal drops, and everything organic in general - and not necessarily only expired things! As a product of such action, you will receive compost (see more details about this new item in the section below), and insects with which you will be able to feed your pack of Armadillos and Anteaters.
New item: Compost
Show your plants some love with the new, organic, homemade superfood - Compost!
Compost is the most important and most fertilizing product of the Composter. With this nutritious and rich substance, you can elevate your planting skills to a higher level!
New construction: Feeding Trough - Insects
As you now have some new pals to take care of in your animal pen, you will need a way to feed them. By using this new construction, you will be able to feed anteaters and armadillos with insects. Bon appétit!
New mechanic: Parrot keeping
Now you can lure parrots into your base - or any other place where you build a Parrot Nest - where parrots can fly into and become accustomed to your presence.
New construction: Parrot Nest
When you manage to get parrots safe and comfy in your Parrot Nest, you will be rewarded with feathers and eggs left by the birds.

And that’s all in this #20 free content update! As usual, thank you so much for supporting the game. We welcome all your thoughts and feedback on our discord server.

Last but not least, keep your eyes peeled for our next update for Green Hell! Be sure it will make your Amazonian home super cozy!

Happy anteating!
Creepy Jar Team

PS.
Aside from supporting Green Hell with new free updates, we're hard at work on our next title, StarRupture. Being built in Unreal Engine 5, StarRupture is an ambitious cross between base building, exploration, combat, and resource management on an alien planet torn by a catastrophic cycle of destruction. See what we're up to with StarRupture over here, where we’ve lately published our devlog about building your base.
