Project Nirvana is the first step in the evolution of Conqueror's Blade. Optimization is difficult, and the road ahead is long, but everyone in the Conqueror's Blade development team has confidence in resolving every issue we face. We kindly ask for your patience and understanding, and to give us more time to make improvements.

After the last live stream, we initiated Project Nirvana and determined to optimize the game's performance and improve the frame rate for a better 'Nirvana Horse' version!

Nowadays, the Nirvana Horse version is officially launched, and we have submitted the first round of Project Nirvana assignments to the Warlords. At this moment, the sound of each Warlords is especially important.

Soon, we will start the online live stream again and talk to Warlords about the events of the Project Nirvana.

[h2] Our performance optimization strategy:[/h2]

  • While maintaining the visual effects, ensure the consistency of the highest quality graphics and optimize any unreasonable performance allocation. For example, supplement the models, special effects, and animations with a more complete LOD, and reduce the performance consumption of faraway scenes.

  • Redesign the underlying program code, using better strategies to restructure the underlying logic.

  • More detailed and reasonable default settings have been applied for different levels of graphics, and more graphics options are now available. These settings are finely tuned to achieve a better balance between visual quality and performance. No effects have been removed. they are just allocated more reasonably. Players can also customize the options according to their personal preferences, and performance will be improved compared to before under the same graphics quality.

Models, special effects, animations, UI, and sound art resources have been reset or modified, including but not limited to:

  • Over 300 Hero models, 500+ Weapon models, and 100+ Horse equipment models, along with related animation files.
  • Over 300+ Unit entities, horse models, Attires, and related animation files are included.
  • Over 8,000 scene object models
  • Over 5,600+ character scene effects
  • 500+ UI Materials
  • 50+ music materials, 13,000+ sound effect materials.

Combine similar items and remove complex objects in over 40 scenes, including but not limited to:

  • Reducing the complexity of the model combination.
  • Combining models of the same type to reduce the absolute number and the number of triangular surfaces.
  • Modifying the distant scenery vegetation to reduce the performance consumption of faraway scenes.

[h3] Refactoring the underlying code, the following underlying systems have undergone code refactoring:

Graphics-related systems:

  • Optimizing materials, shadows, and lighting, among other graphic algorithms to reduce the GPU's computational overhead.
  • Optimizing static objects, dynamic objects, trees, and other models' clipping algorithms to reduce the CPU consumption of submitting rendering commands.
  • Optimizing the graphics system DrawCall batch submission algorithm.
  • Loading certain textures selectively, and reducing the usage of video memory and RAM.
  • Adjusting the task scheduling strategy of the graphic system, and making better use of CPU resources.
  • The rendering algorithms for highlighted objects and semi-transparent objects have been optimized.
  • For special effects, particles, decals, and other systems, more reasonable budget control strategies are used in high, medium, and low settings.
  • The performance effect after a Unit's death has been optimized.

Client-related System:

  • Cleaning up 11 unsuitable UI interfaces in the game.
  • UI system rendering and logic optimization for 58 interfaces.
  • The soldier creation system is optimized to avoid sudden lags when recruiting at supply points.
  • Optimizing the Point Capture system logic.
  • Optimizing the logic of the Season Challenges system.
  • Optimizing the system logic for changing levels.
  • Optimizing the logic of the Unit in Formation system.
  • The script system's garbage collection mechanism has been optimized, reducing occasional lagging issues.
  • Optimizing the LOD algorithms for animation, particles, and special effects systems to balance both visual quality and performance requirements.

Other Systems:

  • Optimizing audio effects, UI, Devastate, fabric, and other System synchronization Materials creation logic to avoid lags during the Create process.
  • Optimizing the frame rate smoothing algorithm to avoid large fluctuations.
  • Optimizing the multithread scheduling for new Intel CPUs, and making better use of CPU resources.
  • Fixing a series of crashes caused by multi-threading issues.
  • We have made more refined and reasonable default configurations for different levels of graphics settings, and also opened up more customization options. These settings have been adjusted to provide a more balanced visual and performance experience.

  2. The first Gold Chest you open is guaranteed to contain a Weapon Attire Selection Box. The chest count refreshes every Monday at 0:00.
  3. You can use Protection Tickets to keep your stars even in defeat:
    • Protection Ticket: Use in the deployment phase to prevent any loss of stars should you lose the battle. This item only consumes when defeated.
  4. The Champion Trove will be played using the Warfront (Siege) ruleset, meaning that you will be able to use any unit except for those of the Knightfall season and the Chevaliers.
  5. Extra Info:
    • You will be provided equipment, units and artillery.
    • Everyone will have 700 leadership.
    • Attackers can deploy 2 rare artilleries while defenders can deploy 1.
    • Seasonal restrictions have no effect and you can use all unit tiers.

II. BUG FIXES
  1. Fixed the issue of the inconsistency in map rotation directions between the deployment UI and tab UI in [Wuqing Plains].
  2. Fixed the issue of incorrect rotation at the city gates of [Augolia] and [Turul Város] Capitals.
  3. Fixed the issue of missing background images during the loading process of [Linwu Fortress].
  4. Fixed the issue of an incorrect model effect and animation in the [Hidden City].

Improved Performance, Unchanged Graphics Quality!

Our Commitment Day, November 2nd, has finally arrived.
Starting today, the [Nirvana Horse] client, to which the Conqueror's Blade Team has fully dedicated itself, is released for an unlimited collaborative test! We sincerely invite all of you to participate in this OBT test!

Due to the significant changes in the [Nirvana Horse] client and the possibility of unforeseen bug issues, we will maintain the stable online client in order to ensure the noraml game experience. Therefore, Warlords participating in the OBT need to switch and download [Nirvana Horse] client (about 10G).

After the 7-day test period ends, [Nirvana Horse] client will officially merge with the online client on November 9th.

Balancing Performance and Graphics Quality


Previously, we invited some Warlords to participate in the [Nirvana Horse] PTR test, and during that time, some Warlords reported graphical bugs in the [Nirvana Horse] client. Today, on the occasion of the [Nirvana Horse] OBT launch, we would like to address the graphics issue with everyone.

F First, we must acknowledge that performance and graphics quality are often at odds with each other. Game optimization aims to find the right balance between these two elements across various device configurations. Therefore, our primary optimization strategy is to ensure both frame rate and graphics quality on higher-end configurations, while prioritizing a smooth and normal gameplay experience on lower-end configurations.

After the initial optimization stage, we observed a significant improvement in the frame rate of the [Nirvana Horse] client under the highest configuration. In other words, the client now ensures a good frame rate and performance while providing a similar visual quality experience compared to the new and official clients.

However, some Warlords have reported that certain particles and special effects disappear in the highest configuration. After the development team's confirmation, this issue has been identified as a bug and is currently undergoing a thorough investigation and repair.

As an example of the skill effect issue that was intensely discussed during the PTR, you can refer to the actual effect comparisons of [Divine Sea Treasure] in the two clients below. Under the highest configuration, the actual particles and effects before and after optimization remain consistent, with no differences.



The question of whether the special effects on Mount Attire have been modified is one of the most frequently raised issues in recent feedback.

Taking the flame effects of the [Infernal Dragoon] Horse Attire as an example, some Warlords previously reported that the attire effects disappeared. However, after ruling out the influence of bugs, the effects remain consistent before and after optimization in high-configuration environments for [Nirvana Horse] and the official client. [Infernal Dragoon] still appears as a fierce steed that steps on hellish flames from the underworld.



Furthermore, Siege Engines & Artillery are among the most discussed special effect changes by the Warlords. In fact, the effects of Siege Engines & Artillery before and after optimization are the same. With the highest graphics settings, the development team also strives to achieve the same effect for Siege Engines & Artillery before and after optimization.





Lastly, the same goes for the scenery. Using the Capital effects of the Halloween event as an example, not only does the frame rate improve after optimization, but there are also more effects and better image quality.




How Is the Frame Rate Improvement Achieved?


Technically, the development team undergoes extensive iterations on the core systems of Conqueror's Blade, optimizing the operating logic of these systems to fundamentally enhance the performance experience.

In terms of art, numerous assets are deeply modified and improved. For instance, the model consumption at different distances is adjusted to be more reasonable.



Simultaneously, the development team also consolidates similar models that do not impact the battlefield, reducing the number of models faces to boost performance, and more.




Other Questions


Certainly, aside from the discussed graphics quality and performance, many of you may have other concerns, such as:
  1. Has the Unit Flag been removed?
  2. Are the burning effects and smoke particles eliminated?
  3. Have the burn, weapon texture, and reflection effects disappeared?
  4. Have the trajectories of missiles and arrows been altered?
  5. Has the handling of the Pike been adjusted?
  6. Are there invisible walls in the levels?

There are also issues like missing damage numbers, drifting enemies, increased loading times, map problems in the open world, and graphical glitches during faction battles. Some of these problems are related to the instability in the Nirvana Horse version and unidentified bugs. The development team acknowledges everyone's questions and concerns, and we will address them one by one in the future.
