What is Rising Lords?
Greetings Lords!
Firstly, thank you to all the people who have shown us support and Wishlisted the game since we announced its launch last month. Community means a great deal to us at Argonwood and we hope you enjoy following the development of our game as much as we enjoy making it.
We often get asked what kind of game Rising Lords will be, as it fuses together a number of strategy genres including board game and card game elements. As part of the core gameplay in Rising Lords, you will manage your regions, peasants, raise armies, fight epic battles and conquer territories. The game is turn-based and will feature strategy cards you can use to get the edge in battle as well as utilising terrain and the various unit types to gain an advantage.
The modes we're aiming to have at launch include a robust multiplayer player with a keen focus on interaction. This includes simultaneous multiplayer where turns on the strategy map will be executed at the same time. To achieve this we believe we've designed a system that corrects the 'first move/faster connection wins' mechanic, that has been haunting many turn-based games. This is something we are especially proud of.
There will also be singleplayer in which you can play all multiplayer modules with AI. Not to worry though for those interested in a rich story as there will also be a single player story campaign with RPG elements, where your decisions and accomplishments will carry the power to change the course of history in the realm.
