Patch Notes: 1.11.1 Behemoth

Hello Operatives! Today, with our v1.11.1 Behemoth patch update, we're rebalancing a few pieces within Festering Skies to make them a little more forgiving alongside bug fixes. We've also introduced a workaround solution for the cinematics that some Win 7 players were experiencing in the game. Full patch notes below!

Tactical
  • Swarmer type damage is reduced by 10-15%.
Geoscape
  • Rate of mid and late-game interceptions reduced by up to 20%.
Bug fixes
  • Implemented a workaround solution resolving the problem with the cinematics in the game on Windows 7.
  • Fixed an issue where the hair of the units in the portraits in Tactical would not appear correctly.
  • Fixed an issue where narrative messages wouldn’t appear in the “Gift” mission if the hints are disabled.
  • Fixed an issue with the animation of the explosive egg upon destruction.
  • Fixed a rare issue causing the game to be stuck when the interception minigame is paused during a muzzle flash VFX.
  • Fixed an issue where in some cases the Corruption Node didn’t spawn during Infested Haven missions resulting in an instant victory for the player.
  • Fixed an issue where after loading a save the Behemoth 3D model would appear while submerged.
  • Fixed an issue where the save game button would occasionally become disabled after a lost ancient site defense.
  • Fixed an issue where an inactive deploy button appears on sites when using the Masked Manticore.
  • Fixed an issue where the Gills objective wouldn’t complete correctly.
  • Fixed an issue where the 3D models in the intelligence reports appeared too bright.
  • Fixed an issue where Mindfraggers can attack through walls on Synedrion maps.
  • Fixed controller scheme instructions for inventory and soldier info.
  • Fixed an issue where the Myrmidon spawn animation wouldn’t appear correctly.
  • Alien eggs now fall properly when the floor beneath them is destroyed.
  • Fixed an issue with the death animation of the Venomous Swarmer causing a delayed game response.
  • Fixed a rare issue where the game has stuck after returning to Geoscape from a New Jericho story mission.
  • Fixed an issue causing the description of the Pandoran evolution and Fire Worm research not showing correctly.
  • Fixed an issue causing problems with buying soldier abilities before deploying on missions.
  • Fixed an issue where the auto-battle button could not be selected with a controller.
  • Other minor fixes.

Phoenix Point: Festering Skies DLC Now Available!

The skies darken with alien vessels, and the Phoenix Project must rise to the challenge against their biggest foe yet in the all-new Festering Skies DLC. Face off against flying Pandorans in the new interception mode: research aircraft, weapons, and modules to counter Pandoran assaults in the skies. Take on new enemies on the ground, as well as new missions and an entirely new mission type. Plus, Festering Skies features its own, original storyline and cinematic cutscenes, and, of course, the Behemoth, a monstrous new threat you must stop before it crushes humanity -- literally.

Festering Skies Includes:
  • NEW Story Missions and Cinematics.
  • NEW Mission Type that occurs on affected faction locations.
  • NEW Interception air combat minigame with its own research, manufacturing, and equipment.
  • NEW Enemies on the Geoscape and Tactical.

Quality of Life improvements
  • We’ve made multiple improvements and rebalanced the toughness of all destructible objects like walls, doors, windows, etc. The toughness of objects should take into account a better calculation of the size and material type (metal, concrete, wood, etc.) when determining if a shot is able to destroy it.
  • To better help with stealth and awareness, enemy perception range is visualized when hovered, based on the selected soldier.
  • Additionally, Eggs and Sentinels trigger range is visualized when hovered.
  • The cone radius of the Overwatch ability will have a maximum size based on weapon type.
  • Change of the rule for the Supportive Faction Havens. When the player discovers a site that is a Haven of a Supportive Faction, it is revealed.
  • Improved information of the body parts in free aim when mouseover.

Game balancing
We’re continually optimizing the game for all our players, thanks to the feedback gathered from our community. In this first re-balancing effort, we looked at a few abilities and weapons that had the potential to be exploited and tweaked them to align better with our vision for the game. We’ll be keeping an eye on the reception and have other areas we’ll be addressing in the future.
  • Remote Control adjusted from 1AP 3WP to 2AP 2 WP.
  • Sneak Attack now provides 50% damage dealt versus 100% when not spotted.
  • Vanish will now cost 1AP and 3WP, from 0 AP 4WP.
  • Advanced lasers - Scorcher now has a rebalanced Ammo capacity and burst.

XCOM-like Phoenix Point's next DLC introduces the massive Behemoth

Ahh, Phoenix Point, we meet again - what do you have in store for us this time? It turns out the gang over at Snapshot Games has been busily preparing the XCOM-style strategy game's next DLC add-on, dubbed Festering Skies. When it arrives, it'll be accompanies by the Behemoth Update, which includes some welcome quality-of-life adjustments and changes.


First up, though, is Festering Skies. Out May 25, this add-on pack includes a whole new campaign story that deals with the emergence of a gigantic monster from the ocean depths. It's truly massive, visible on the campaign map, and capable of destroying havens, bases, and exploration sites. It's effectively a mobile Pandoran colony, and it carries on its back a squadron of airborne monstrosities that can wreak havoc wherever the beast goes.


To stop the Behemoth, you'll need to shoot down these flyers by scrambling your transport aircraft, which you'll be able to outfit with weapons and defensive equipment. In a nod to the original X-Com: UFO Defence, Snapshot Games is adding a new interception mini-game, which will test your weapons research and procurement strategies against increasingly tough enemies.

Behemoth Content Update

To date, we’ve talked about the new enemies and missions, alongside the new Interception minigame and the Behemoth that ravages the Geoscape in Festering Skies… but there’s one more update to discuss: our next free content update which will introduce some new quality-of-life improvements and game balance optimizations for all players of Phoenix Point.



All Phoenix Point owners will receive our latest free update on May 25. The v.1.11 “Behemoth” (yes, named after the star of our Festering Skies DLC) content update, includes many upgrades and balance changes for key systems -- and it’s available to you whether you own DLC 3: Festering Skies or not. More details on the changes in the free update below:

Quality of Life Improvements

To start, we’ve made multiple improvements and rebalanced the toughness of all destructible objects like walls, doors, windows, etc. The toughness of objects should take into account a better calculation of the size and material type (metal, concrete, wood, etc.) when determining if a shot is able to destroy it.

We also know understanding enemy awareness was important for players trying stealthy maneuvers, and we wanted to help players know when they might be in jeopardy. Enemy perception range is now visualized when hovering over a selected enemy, so you can see which of your soldiers may be at risk. You can also get an understanding of the trigger range of Eggs and Sentinels by hovering over them as well. 

We also included a few other QOL updates that include:
  • The cone radius of the Overwatch ability will have a maximum size based on weapon type.
  • Change of the rule for the Supportive Faction Havens. When the player discovers a site that is a Haven of a Supportive Faction, it is revealed.
  • Improved information in free aim when mousing over body parts. 
Game Balancing

We’re continually optimizing the game for all our players, thanks to the feedback we gather from our community. While DLC 3 took a large part of the team’s focus over the past few months, we were able to look at a few abilities and weapons in the core Phoenix Point game, and tweak them to align better with our vision for the game for this update.

Specifically, we’re making changes to the Technician’s Remote Control and Infiltrator’s Vanish to increase their AP costs and make them less exploitable. We’re also adjusting the Infiltrator’s Sneak Attack damage so that it now only provides 50% damage dealt when not spotted, versus 100%. Additionally, the Scorcher will get a rebalanced Ammo capacity and burst.

We’ll be keeping an eye on the reception of these changes and have other areas we’ll be addressing in future updates.



Last but not least, we’ll also be releasing a new cosmetic skin on May 25th for those looking to add some more style to their Snipers. We’re not making the code available just yet, but be sure to follow our social media or subscribe to the newsletter to be the first to receive!
