Uprising – A Major New Expansion

Battle-ready capsuleers,

The universe never stands still, and EVE Online’s first narrative arc has already been building tension between the empires. Now, the stage is set to bring about an intense, thrilling future in New Eden. The time to choose your battle, fly your colors, and reap the greatest rewards that victory and loyalty can offer draws near!

Uprising is a brand-new narrative-driven expansion for EVE Online launching in November, ushering in major improvements to Factional Warfare (FW), introducing a suite of new ships in addition to a plethora of balance changes to existing ships, corporation and alliance logos on your vessels as part of the introduction to heraldry, new visually immersive hangars, and more.

The first narrative arc has already begun with the discovery of an abandoned EDENCOM structure after its cloak began failing over a storm planet in the system of Athounon. Capsuleers have also found mysterious construction sites across space, with some believing these to be stellar harvesters and stargates being independently constructed by the empires, leaving the tenuous peace between them at risk.

Keep your eyes open as the narrative arc progresses, and be sure to take part as the story unfolds. Your involvement will help shape New Eden by revealing fresh features to help in future battles, including brand-new ships in-game, some of which will be unveiled much sooner than others. The introduction of these new ships will increase the diversity of tools available to a wide array of capsuleers, from those just starting their journey to more established veterans, while bringing some serious visual intimidation to the battlefield!

The Uprising expansion brings many significant changes to Factional Warfare some of which are outlined in the State of the Union news item including a complete rework of complexes, and a new advantage functionality that allows you to give your chosen Faction an edge in FW.

This part of the expansion aims to evolve Factional Warfare into a more intense and exciting combat playstyle for FW enthusiasts. There will be more incentives to support and fight for your favorite Empire, a wider array of opportunities to contribute to the war effort across the warzone, and new events will be introduced creating more possibilities for empires to issue campaign objectives to those who enlist.

This is only the beginning! There are even more exciting improvements following this expansion that will help open the gates even further to Factional Warfare in EVE, with a significant update that includes factional allegiance, targeted for Q1 of 2023. This will allow players to aid a Faction in FW irrespective of corporation or alliance.

A phased rollout of Factional Warfare improvements enables us to observe how players in the current FW ecosystem interact with the features without tipping the scales too drastically too quickly. Allegiance is a focus to address, as we know many capsuleers are excited about Factional Warfare and are eager to get involved.

For those pilots not currently enlisted in FW, there will still be plenty for you to do across the warzone, roles to perform, stories to partake in, and amazing rewards to earn.

Furthermore, the new Frontlines in Factional Warfare will draw pilots closer to the borders of their opponents and present new rewarding challenges that focus capsuleer efforts towards key, emerging conflict hot spots where empire history will be written!

Alongside this big shake up of combat strategy, opportunities to earn rewards that unlock Heraldry on ships will be made available. Corporation and alliance logos on ships will act as the introduction to Heraldry, with many more customization options on the horizon following this initial launch such as citadel SKINs and holograms on ships.

If that wasn’t enough, there will be massive enhancements to Upwell hangars that will ramp up the visual immersion while docking and undocking in New Eden. The special attention put into this visual upgrade helps ensure that when you undock from your new hangar, you’ll still get out into space at a speed that is on par with other structures in the game. What better way to admire those fantastic alliance logos and new ships than in a beautiful new hangar?

From now until the release of Uprising in November, there will be a steady stream of updates and content as shown in the roadmap below, while the narrative arc will also continue to advance the story in-game. Our goal moving forward is to unveil more of our roadmap to the community as time progresses. Stay alert, keep your eyes to the stars, your warp drive ready, and your ammo loaded.

The time is quickly approaching for capsuleers across the cluster to rise up, unite under their banners, storm the frontlines, and do it in style!
EVENTS

Whack-a-Bot – 5 September at 16:30 UTC
The always-popular Whack-a-Bot event, taking place in Yulai, lines up an array of ships and pilots identified as using CONCORD-prohibited automatic piloting technology in progressing size – teleporting them to a battlefield of hungry Capsuleers, rearing and ready to tear them apart! This event will also be streamed on the official CCP Twitch, so even if you can’t make it to Yulai, you’ll be free to sit back and enjoy the carnage!
GM Fleet with BjornBee – 8 September at 17:00 UTC
Watch out for a roaming fleet of GMs and ISDs, FC’d by the one and only BjornBee! Each fleet member will be carrying a variety of goodies, so enjoy fun fights and try to claim rewards from their wrecks – or if you can’t join in person, hop onto the stream and watch live!
VIDEO CONTESTS
Share your best EVE videos, whether they’re funny, cool, or just plain entertaining, for a chance at fun prizes! There will be two separate contests – one for videos 30 seconds or shorter and one for videos 1-3 minutes in length, and submissions will take place in dedicated threads on the EVE Forums.
ALL-WEEK ACTION
Each of these will be running for the entire duration of the GM week celebrations, so no matter where or when you play, there’s certain to be something fun for you to take part in!
Scavenger Hunt
Keep your eyes peeled and seek out jetcans dropped all over New Eden, filled with all sorts of goodies! Hints to their locations will be dropped both onstream and through in-game channels.
Armed Piñata Hunt
Similar to the scavenger hunt, but a bit more energized: follow hints and locate GMs hiding all over New Eden aboard ships full of loot! You’ll need to destroy their ship in order to claim your prize (unless you ask nicely, maybe?), but be prepared – as they’ll be shooting back as well!
Orbital Stash
Seek out easily-located containers across the cluster, named with an EVE-related riddle and accessible only by inputting the correct answer as a passcode! All answers will be in lower-case to avoid confusion.
Magic School Bus
Taking a cue from beloved ex-CSM member Mike Azariah, GMs will be traveling to each career agent system to hand out fully fitted tech 1 frigates to new players in need!
In-Game Activity
GMs will be actively present throughout the week throughout various help channels, as well as in person aboard impressive & aspirational ships across various starter, career agent, and Sisters of EVE Epic Arc systems, engaging with players and answering questions in chat – marked by their signature red text!

You may also encounter them in the Proving Grounds, fighting on even ground, and might see some surprise appearances in various EVE streamers’ locations as well as in their stream chats!

We can’t wait to share another bombastic and action-packed GM week with you all – See you in space!

Join the Proving Grounds frigate frenzy!

Calling all pilots!

In celebration of this fine Union Day, a very special 2v2 frigate frenzy is coming to the Abyssal Proving Grounds. This event will run from 2-5 September and will allow use of the following ships: Merlin, Kestrel, and Condor.

Getting into the spirit of the festivities, these dramatic duels will feature team-based frigate combat, and the gauntlet is thrown to Caldari frigate enthusiasts of all abilities, bringing together grizzled veterans and young hot shots.

What would a Union Day celebration be without a universally accessible event? In a bid to entice budding new Capsuleers , module choices for the event are limited to Meta 0 base modules only.

This special frigate frenzy is a true test of skill, meaning that you will be required to battle without the aid of the following: weapon disruptors, sensor dampeners, shield rechargers, shield power relays, shield flux coils, shield boost amplifiers, and core defence field purgers.

In order to make these team-based battles a true test of skill, ships fitted with modules or rigs that provide bonuses to single specific damage resistances will not be permitted. For example: EM armor hardener modules and medium kinetic shield reinforcer rigs are NOT allowed because they provide bonuses to a single specific resistance type. However, multispectrum energized membrane and Damage Control modules ARE allowed because they provide bonuses to multiple resistance types.

In the interest of sportsmanship, ships entering this Proving Ground may have a maximum of one local repair module fitted (shield or armor).

The following arena effects are in place for the event:
+25% Hybrid turret damage and optimal range
+10% Kinetic missile damage

Prepare your fittings as well as your Proving Ground filaments, available in Abyssal Deadspace or on the in-game market, and brace yourself for team-based combat as you strive for glory - making your mark on the leaderboard and earning special rewards!
