Venture forth to the Proving Grounds!

Resourceful Capsuleers!

To mark the exciting new mining chapter in EVE’s New Player Experience, a very special Proving Grounds event is set to take place from 12-14 March!

The challenge this time around? Grab your trusty mining Ventures, and fit them for an intense 48 hours of free-for-all combat! The skill requirements are low, the stakes are affordable, and everybody’s welcome in this fun twist on the format.

As always, some fitting restrictions apply. Sensor Dampeners, Weapon Disruptors, Shield Rechargers, Shield Power Relays, Shield Flux Coils, and Core Defense Field Purgers are banned altogether.

Additionally, you can only bring one local repair module (shield or armor) with you, and all modules are limited to Meta 4.

As you’d expect, there are a few extra twists to be found in the combat arena itself! The following bonuses will be in place to keep you on your toes as you optimize your ship fits:
 • +100% turret damage
 • -50% turret capacitor consumption
 • +25% turret optimal range
 • +100% bonus to the benefits of overheating, other than EWAR

There’s a lot to think about with this one! Pore over your ship fits, and get ready to explore the other side of industry by blowing up some stuff. You might even get a taste for a different playstyle in EVE!

We Stand Together

CCP Games stands in support of the people of Ukraine and joins the international call to end the violence and restore peace in the region. We are devastated by the terrible situation unfolding and our collective thoughts are with all those affected by these distressing events.

Like our community, CCP employees come from many countries, including both Ukraine and Russia. We are joined with them in our shared grief and dismay at the conflict that is taking place.

As a measure of practical support, CCP will be launching a new PLEX For Good program to contribute toward humanitarian relief efforts by raising money for those suffering in the conflict. CCP will match donations from the EVE community and our employees up to a total of $250,000. The campaign will be going live later this week and players can make a contribution by contracting their spare PLEX to the in-game character CCP PLEX for Good.

In this time of strife, our hearts go out both to our Ukrainian community and our Russian community, who like everyone else are ordinary people that want no part in war. Over the past week, we have been heartened to see the reaction from the EVE community to the conflict in Ukraine. Alliance leaders across EVE Online posted announcements in support of players from both Ukraine and Russia and called on their members to leave real-world differences outside the game. Moreover, we’ve seen some movements formed to agree to not interfere or even defend in-game assets of Ukrainian-run corporations while they are unable to do it themselves.

In these times, it is important to remember our commonalities and shared purpose – not just as gamers, but as people. Please capsuleers, when you’re in New Eden remember to treat your fellow pilots with the same care and humanity no matter where they’re from.

Everyone at CCP sincerely hopes that we see an end to this conflict very soon. In the meantime, we know that the best way to get through this is by supporting one another.

Road to Fanfest - Live Now!

Intrepid Capsuleers,

As EVE Online picks up speed in 2022, many of the exciting updates introduced in the Road to Fanfest blog are now live in-game! Balance changes, new player-focused improvements, visual enhancements, and more are set to propel New Eden into a future that’s never looked brighter! Whether it’s adding more immersion to the EVE experience, giving rookie pilots a smoother pathway into the universe, or increasing the usability of beloved ship classes in battle, this update packs a mighty punch. A big thank you is due to all Capsuleers who helped test and give feedback on these changes while they were on the Singularity test server.

NEW PLAYER EXPERIENCE UPDATE - MINING MYSTERY TOUR!

A new mining adventure has been added to the AIR new player experience, significantly updating the first hour of gameplay for rookie Capsuleers in EVE Online. This portion of EVE’s introductory experience sends you on a resource gathering expedition fraught with intrigue and hints at the unfolding AIR storyline. This adventure also teaches new pilots how to make money from mining, as well as market and industry fundamentals that will light the fires of their industrialist careers!

ENTER THE ORBITAL WARZONE

The quality-of-life improvements surrounding player owned customs office (POCOs) warfare first outlined in the Road to Fanfest blog are also now live in-game. Gantry shield EHP has been greatly reduced from 10,000,000 to 500,000, and both the onlining delay and unanchoring delay have been increased, creating more fun and fairer gameplay for both attackers and defenders. In addition, players can now warp directly to the gantry when it is placed in space, and the location from which players can launch the gantry has been standardized.

In a related update, the Epithal – known as the hauler for planetary industry commodities – now has a command center bay, allowing players to also use it as the go-to hauler for beginning their PI colonies.

REFLECTING SPACE – ANOTHER GRAPHICAL UPDATE

Maintaining EVE’s visually stunning universe is as big a priority going forward as ever, and in that vein, the graphical improvements mentioned previously are now live. Reflections in-client now include structures, effects, and other significant objects in the space around you, adding to the immersion of New Eden. Undock now in your shiniest ship and revel in its reflective radiance!

COMPRESS TO IMPRESS

The long-awaited changes to compression as part of sweeping industry improvements are here, and finally available to Capsuleers after the merciless raid and theft from ORE research facilities! From the proposed changes to compression being announced and placed on the Singularity test server, to the heaps of positive and constructive feedback received from the community, a lot of work has been carried out on this element of industry to ensure that the in-space compression experience is just as good as it is in structures.

While in space and in the same fleet as an industrial command ship with a special compression module, you can now instantly compress resources of any amount from your hold – and compressing in structures remains unchanged.
 • Compression is now a more social ability. Industrial command ships (Rorqual, Orca and Porpoise) have new modules which allow all nearby fleet-mates to instantly compress their own materials.
 • This remote compression is available at long ranges - over 200 km is possible.
 • As frequently requested, gas and moon ore resources are now compressible using these new modules.
 • The Porpoise can now compress gas and asteroid Ore, and both the Orca and Rorqual can compress all resources - gas, ice, asteroid ore, and moon ore.
 • Compression continues to be loss-less.
 • The capacity of jetcans has been doubled to make it easier for high-volume miners and haulers to work together more efficiently.

Check out the dedicated forum post for all the details.

BATTLESHIP BUFFS

The proposed changes to the beloved battleships of EVE are now live in-game, improving their mobility and survivability on the battlefield. A new role bonus has been added to all empire, faction, marauder, and black ops battleships (apart from the Praxis) which increases the effectiveness of armor plates by 50%, and bumps shield extenders by 100%. In addition, a +5% additive bonus to the hull hitpoint bonus from reinforced bulkheads has been incorporated to strengthen a battleship’s ability to hull tank. Lastly, large micro jump drive fitting requirements have also been reduced substantially.

Speaking of battleships, many scintillating SKINs for this class of vessel will be on sale between 8-16 March in EVE Online’s New Eden Store, including examples from the Eden’s Hunters, Ghost’s Hex, Vampire’s Hex, and Steel Cardinal SKIN lines to name but a few. Gotta stay sharp to look sharp!

CRAB IT WHILE IT’S HOT

If you’ve been CRABbing in your capital with the Concord Rogue Analysis Beacon (CRAB), you’ll be pleased to know that there are now improved rewards for this activity in the form of a decrease in the Loyalty Point cost for the beacon blueprint, as well as an increase in the amount of Rogue Drone infestation data per run. The time is right to get your claws out!
BOLSTERED BULKHEADS

In an update to the changes introduced with Surgical Strike in 2020, resistance modules which had their resistances lowered by that update have now had half the resistances they lost returned. This has been done so that Capsuleers can enjoy the best of both worlds, worlds where force auxiliaries will still be vulnerable and combat can still be longer and more tactical. The benefits will be felt far and wide, by wormholers, Lowsec pilots, and small-medium gangs (and solo fighters) generally.

This also provides new challenges to master, while rewarding good decision making, and opens the door to more specialized fits and doctrines, while also enabling more ship diversity for all areas of combat.
THE LONG AND BINDING ROAD

The road to Fanfest is long and filled with excitement, so there’s even more to look forward to on the horizon including a blog that will discuss revisions to structure combat power and more. Be sure to check out the patch notes for full details on the above updates.

The gate has never been greener.

Welcome back to the Community Beat where we take look at what you have been up to in the world of EVE online in recent weeks.

In the last Beat we covered a ridiculously good Naglfar built in Space Engineers, a wonderful charity initative to St Jude Children‘s Hospital by Rampage Inc.
GAMBLING AN ALLIANCE TOURNAMENT SHIP IN STYLE
Knowledge equals profit, or so says the quote. It‘s not new to see problems being solved in EVE Online using mathematics but every now and then, some of those solutions become very interesting when there‘s also a lot on the line.

Reddit user Low_Put posted his statistical analysis of the estimated profit from putting a brand new Alliance tournament ship, the Raiju up for raffle.

Unfortunately according to the player he ended up losing on his gamble, but we are sure that the lucky winner who purchased a mere 5 tickets is enjoying his winnings. If the new owner intends to try his luck as well, he can at least be well informed on his decision to do so.
CRAFTY CAPSULEERS: EVEMOEDESU
Artwork: evemoedesu

Saying that evemoedesu has a creative way of portraying the ships of EVE Online would be an understatement. Who wouldn‘t want an anthropomorphized ship selfie from your most recent structure bash? I guess that depends on who you ask but the talent on display is undoubtable.
FRIENDSHIP WEEK HIGHLIGHTS:
The annual Friendship Week concluded ending spectacularly with a Dev Caravan Roam where Fleet Commander Pandoralica lead the gang on a faction battleship fleet. What a week it‘s been with nearly twenty streamers coming together on CCPTV, having a good time sharing their experienceS of EVE with the rest of the community.

Here are just a few fun highlights from the week for your enjoyment. We sure enjoyed them.
PARTNER SPOTLIGHT – Steve Ronuken
Steve Ronuken needs no introduction to most but we‘re going to do it anyway. Steve is a third party developer that has diligently served the EVE Online community, not just with amazing tools for the players to work with but also being elected from CSM 9 through to CSM 14.

We can safely say that most players that have dabbled in industry on a somewhat larger scale have come into contact with the work from Steve Ronuken over at Fuzzwork. If your thinking of dipping your toes into industry then we most surely recommend that you go over to Fuzzwork and check out the tools available to get you started.
