Join the Proving Grounds frigate frenzy!

Calling all Capsuleers,

The time has come to get ready for the next round of action at the Abyssal Proving Grounds, with a 2v2 Frigate Frenzy kicking off on 18 March. Excitement and drama are assured!

This event will feature team-based frigate combat, and has been shaped to welcome Capsuleers of any and all skill levels, bringing together veteran and new pilots, as well as anyone in between.

The Proving Ground will run until 22 March and will allow use of the following ships: Punisher, Tormentor, Merlin, Kestrel, Incursus, Tristan, Rifter, Breacher, Executioner, Condor, Atron, and Slasher.

The make the event even more enticing for brand new players, module choices for the event are limited to Meta 0 base modules only. That means You can take a Warp Scrambler I, but not an Initiated Compact Warp Scrambler, for example.

As with other recent events, additional restrictions and buffs will be in place to spice up the meta:
Sensor dampeners, shield rechargers, shield power relays, shield flux coils, and core defence field purgers are banned.

Ships entering this Proving Ground may have a maximum of one local repair module fitted (shield or armor).

The following arena effects are in place for the event:
+25% Turret damage and tracking speed
+50% Shield, Armor, and Hull HP

To join this round of frigate-focussed Abyssal Proving Grounds action, grab those Proving Filaments and head to the Proving Grounds between 18 and 22 March, starting 11:00 UTC. As ever, the Proving Grounds leaderboards will allow you to track Capsuleer performance throughout this approachable team-based event.

Glorious Battleships & Bolstered Bulkheads now live!

GLORIOUS BATTLESHIPS

The changes to the beloved battleships of EVE are now live in-game, improving their mobility and survivability on the battlefield. A new role bonus has been added to all empire, faction, marauder, and black ops battleships (apart from the Praxis) which increases the effectiveness of armor plates by 50%, and bumps shield extenders by 100%. In addition, a +5% additive bonus to the hull hitpoint bonus from reinforced bulkheads has been incorporated to strengthen a battleship’s ability to hull tank. Lastly, large micro jump drive fitting requirements have also been reduced substantially.

Speaking of battleships, many scintillating SKINs for this class of vessel will be on sale between 8-16 March in EVE Online’s New Eden Store, including examples from the Eden’s Hunters, Ghost’s Hex, Vampire’s Hex, and Steel Cardinal SKIN lines to name but a few. Gotta stay sharp to look sharp!

A week from the update, battleships have been the official cause of death for 2.6 million NPCs, and they have fired over 8.6 million shots in PvP fights in the same time period!

BOLSTERED BULKHEADS

In an update to the changes introduced with Surgical Strike in 2020, resistance modules which had their resistances lowered by that update have now had half the resistances they lost returned. This has been done so that Capsuleers can enjoy the best of both worlds, worlds where force auxiliaries will still be vulnerable and combat can still be longer and more tactical. The benefits will be felt far and wide, by wormholers, Lowsec pilots, and small-medium gangs (and solo fighters) generally.

EVE Academy – Invention and T2 Production

Academic Capsuleers,

A new tutorial has been added to EVE Academy! This video focuses on the process of Invention in EVE Online as a part of the Industrialist career path. You can find the video below or over on the EVE Academy site itself.

EVE Academy is your guide to New Eden - a website aimed at giving new EVE Online players the best start by providing a tailored learning experience. It provides a wealth of information designed to help you decide who you want to be. Pick from Explorer, Industrialist, Enforcer (PvE) or Soldier of Fortune (PvP) to get skill plans, beginner ship fittings, and curated links to resources created by the EVE Online community.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Invention is a science-based industry process that uses Tech 1 blueprint copies (BPCs) and Datacores to attempt to produce a limited run T2 blueprint copy. Your chance to succeed can be improved by training the relevant skills seen in the Industry window or by using an optional Decryptor. Should you succeed, it is possible to take the T2 BPC and produce modules or ships that are worth much more than their T1 equivalents.

New content is always being added to the Academy so be sure to check back regularly to get the latest new videos to help you excel in EVE Online!

PLEX for GOOD: Ukraine

Caring Capsuleers,

CCP developers hail from many countries, including both Ukraine and Russia. We are joined with them in their shared grief and dismay at the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

According to UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, as of 8 March 2022 more than 2 million refugees have already fled Ukraine, crossing borders into neighboring countries in search of shelter and safety.

UNHCR is anticipating an estimated four million refugees may flee Ukraine in total as the conflict continues.

With the burgeoning humanitarian crisis, hundreds of charities and non-Government organizations (NGOs), both small and large, have swung into action to provide those affected populations with food, clothes, shelter, medicine, and other essential supplies in addition to mental health and legal support.

Capsuleers are also deeply affected – some directly – and have called on CCP to start a PLEX for GOOD campaign. In response to our players’ compassion as well as the voice of our own conscience, today we announce PLEX for GOOD: Ukraine.
What is PLEX for GOOD?
PLEX for GOOD is a charitable giving project operated by CCP Games which allows players to convert their in-game currency into real world money which is then donated to charities and NGOs on their behalf. Since 2005, EVE Online players have raised over US$700,000 for humanitarian relief across a range of crises:

 • 2005 - $25,326 – Southeast Asia (tsunami)
 • 2010 - $34,350 – Haiti (earthquake)
 • 2010 - $38,900 – Pakistan (monsoon)
 • 2011 - $44,600 – Japan (earthquake and tsunami)
 • 2011 - $32,900 – United States (Hurricane Irene)
 • 2013 - $190,890 – Philippines (Typhoon Haiyan)
 • 2015 - $103,650 – Nepal (earthquake)
 • 2020 - $107,454 - Australia (bushfires)
 • 2020 - $135,550 - Global (COVID-19)
How long will this campaign run?
The campaign is active as of now and will run until 23:59:59 UTC on Tuesday 22 March 2022.
How can I contribute?
Making a donation is very simple. It’s just a matter of contracting PLEX to the in-game character CCP PLEX for GOOD which is an account operated by CCP Games. Your contracts will be accepted daily and added to the pool of PLEX donations.

At the conclusion of the campaign, the PLEX collected will be converted back into real life currency by CCP Games and then delivered to our charity partner on behalf of the Capsuleers of New Eden. For this campaign, CCP Games will also match player donations up to a maximum of US$250,000, which will effectively double the amount of money raised by players.

We are requesting that players respect a minimum donation of 200 PLEX. This will help us process donations efficiently while also allowing those with only a small amount of PLEX to participate.

If you don’t have any PLEX or ISK with which to obtain it from the market but would still like to give, we would encourage you to make a direct donation to one of the following organizations who are also providing assistance to refugees:

IMPORTANT: CCP regards any scamming attempts surrounding PLEX for GOOD to be morally reprehensible, and any attempts at scamming relating to this program will be met with the harshest and swiftest action at our disposal. If you become aware anyone of attempting a scam related to PLEX for GOOD, please notify us at [email protected].
Where will my donation go?
For this campaign, CCP has partnered with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency.

UNHCR protects people forced to flee their homes because of conflict and persecution. They work in over 130 countries, protecting millions of people by responding with life-saving support, safeguarding fundamental human rights and helping them build a better future.

In response to the conflict in Ukraine, UNHCR has stepped up its operations inside Ukraine and neighbouring countries to deliver life-saving humanitarian assistance. This includes distributing core relief items such as blankets, sleeping mats, emergency shelter support, and cash assistance so that people can purchase necessary items such as food and medicine.

UPDATE: In response to calls from the community and within CCP we are adding an additional cause to this PLEX for GOOD. As well as the UNHCR, funds from this PLEX for GOOD will also be distributed to the National Bank of Ukraine Humanitarian Assistance campaign. This will ensure that money raised by EVE Online players will not only provide support to those that have successfully fled the war but also provide additional support to those who are still in Ukraine. The National Bank of Ukraine Account for Humanitarian Assistance will use your donations to:

 • provide food and shelter for refugees and citizens that have been displaced due to military conflict
 • provide clothing, shoes, and medicine for them
 • buy staple goods for the population
 • pay out one-off financial aid and to meet other essential needs of the population.

CCP will continue to match donations made up our players up to a total of $250,000.
Conclusion
In these times, it is important to remember our commonalities and shared purpose – not just as gamers, but as people. Please Capsuleers, when you’re in New Eden, remember to treat your fellow pilots with the care and humanity no matter where they’re from.

Everyone at CCP sincerely hopes that we see an end to this conflict very soon. In the meantime, we know that the best way to get through this is by supporting one another.
