Songs of Conquest in Hero's Hour!

[p]Some time ago, we had the pleasure of talking with the wonderful team at Goblinz Studio, the publishers behind Hero’s Hour. Their game is a gorgeous pixel-based strategy RPG with more than a little in common with Songs of Conquest. Turn-based strategy, fantasy factions, pixel charm, it’s hard not to love it.

Cecilia looks less "I'll kill everything in the name of my family" in this version

With their latest update, they added a familiar face to the battlefield. Cecilia has stepped into Hero’s Hour, bringing a band of trusty Minstrels with her. Needless to say, our office spent the day diving back into this gem, making sure she pulled her weight.

[/p][p]Aggressive little minstrel, isn't he?

It’s a real honor to see a part of Songs of Conquest appear in such a beautiful game. And we think you’ll enjoy playing as Cecilia just as much as we do. A small word of advice, though, those Minstrels are powerful but fragile, so keep them safe in the backline. I may have learned that the hard way when I lost them all quite early on.[/p][p]Watching them march across the battlefield, strumming lutes and swinging swords, is a joy in itself. Benjamin, the developer behind Hero’s Hour, did a fantastic job bringing Cecilia and her companions to life.

Look at them go!

When you move your heroes across the map, it’s turn-based, but the battles themselves are real-time, so you can sit back and enjoy your strategy play out or affect the action directly with orders or spells to turn the tide of battle if it feels your side needs the support. And if you lose too many units, you will have to get more troops in your settlements, and who doesn’t love a good settlement management screen?

Riverside is just starting up, but it will be a mighty fortress in the end

If you have not played Hero’s Hour yet, now is a great time. With 11 factions, local co-op, close to 200 units, and now a few pixels of Songs of Conquest woven in, it is even more worth your attention. You can check it out here, and it's on sale as I write this!

[dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]And when it comes to just regular Songs of Conquest, we are hard at work on our next big update; we just need to do a last bout of play-testing internally first before we share the pixel-fruits of our labor. Other than that, we are also working on something secret and very different. [/p][p]

A vague update

[p]Greetings Wielders!

We are back at it! Truth be told, we have been back for a couple of weeks, but our time has been spent on some rather mysterious things for you. Many of you have requested an updated roadmap for 2025, and we are working on it. A few details are still being finalized before we can share the full picture.[/p][p]So what is this post then? Think of it as a little tease of what lies ahead. More detailed news will follow soon, but I cannot resist giving you at least something to speculate about.[/p][p]First and most exciting, depending on your taste, we have started work on our next faction. Do not worry, we are multitasking, so for those who are not daydreaming about new units, there is more news on the horizon. You might be asking what the new faction is about. When will it arrive? What is its theme? Well, we cannot reveal too much yet, but we can share a very cool fox, because who doesn't like foxes? Is it connected to the new faction? Maybe. Your guess is as good as anyone’s.[/p][p][/p][p]Look at that little thing, it looks like it has so many tails to tell.

And speaking about small animals, you might also have noticed a few Wielders sporting small pets. Ever wondered what that is about? It goes back to Early Access, when we created a Supporter Pack to give an extra treat for those who supported us a little more. It included a small pet for your Wielders and two additional colors. Early Access feels like ancient history now, but we still receive questions about that pack, so we have decided to make it more accessible by significantly lowering the price.

[dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]Over the summer and long before that, we have received suggestions on how to improve the co-op experience, which is a play mode that we often return to here in the office. Many of you enjoy sharing the game with friends, and that feedback has shaped what comes next. We are introducing more than a few quality of life improvements. A new feature is about to change how you experience battles together, whether you are leading armies or simply watching the story unfold.

This picture hints at nothing, carry on

Thank you for continuing to share your thoughts and ideas. It helps us keep building the game into something truly special, together with all of you. Finally, a big thank you to everyone who keeps supporting and inspiring us. Your ideas and feedback shape the game more than you know. We cannot wait to share what is coming next, and trust us, the coming 12 months will have plenty of surprises for all Wielders out there. Stay tuned, more news is right around the corner.

But what about you, wonderful players who play our game on consoles? Well, Roots is coming, but we’re a small studio and things take time, right now we are working on setting up the store pages and making sure console players get the latest update. [/p][p]
Oh, and we haven’t forgotten about Rise Eternal, and looking at the wishlist that keeps coming in, neither have you. Want to convince us to prioritize it? Just comment Rise Eternal (or something like that) in the comments section to help us know if you still want to play it, and we might pick up that undead ball of joy sooner rather than later.[/p][p]
